Ric was a great wrestler, but I would genuinely rate Bryan’s overall body of work over his at this point.
Bryan’s pre-WWE work alone put him near Flair.

Isn't it funny how Ric always has a low opinion of guys when he thinks that doing so will score points in the eyes of WWE management? Ask Bret, Kanyon and so on.

Okay. Flair has an opinion, just like everyone does. Just because he's Ric Flair doesn't mean his opinion is worth more than anyone else's.

Nobody even said Flair didnt draw , they said he is worst wrestler than Bryan.
The only perso talking about drawing are the ones saying "people are revisiting his drawing power"

I love, love, LOVE Ric Flair. He's one of my favorite wrestlers of all time but people grossly undersell what a draw he was. I'm glad people are coming around on it. The Steamboat/Flair matches are my favorite American wrestling matches ever but if you look up what they actually drew and the size of the buildings they were in you might be surprised.
Anyway, Bryan's pre WWE work absolutely smokes anything Flair ever did. "As a heel he's not me." Yeah, because he was an ACTUAL heel. Flair in NWA was Poochie. Even when he was supposed to be the top bad guy he got mentioned every five seconds on the shows, had fans dressed like him in the crowd and constantly had people talking him up. Bryan was a cocky, annoying bastard who just happened to be a great wrestler. I wanted to see Nigel take his head off.

We need a book of Flair quotes: "Shit My Drunk Grandpa Says"
Like... Danielson has ALWAYS been great. Can't convince me otherwise. Better than Flair ever hoped to be. Flair was great in his time, don't get me wrong, but I watch his old matches from the 80's and... I just don't see what others do. But Danielson, I rank him in my top five greatest wrestlers ever. Dude just knows how to work the crowd. Watch the match from Wednesday, he had them eating out of the palm of his hand. Flair... I hesitate to say he NEVER did that, but Flair needed guys who were willing to go along with his style and his type of match. That's why Flair and Hogan only had one really memorable match, and why he never truly clicked with Bret or Savage (who are in my top 3, btw), because he wasn't willing to work their type of match. Danielson can work with literally ANYONE and the match will at least be good, even if it's not great or a classic.

Ric Flair was a great wrestler fin his time, just like Danielson is a great wrestler now, just like someone else will be a great wrestler years from now.
The difference for me being that during Flair’s top years there were only a few others that were also great wrestlers, Danielson is the measuring stick during a time when a large number of guys and girls can go out there and have a legit five star match. 🤷🏻♂️

Like most of you I'm also out on Flair. I agree that the HHH match was what made him on a large scale, really that entire night, but Bryan is clearly great. Here's what frustrates me about Flair. His entire prime was spent in a second rate promotion as the top guy. The NWA was lesser than the WWF and Flair was on top the whole time. At no point were they ever big competition once Hulk got started and Flair acts like it was neck and neck. Only when WCW moved to other guys did they become real competition. When Flair went to the WWF he was a failure as the champion and couldn't draw. I get he was great but quite honestly he's never been in my top 5 ever. Sacrilege! NWA had the better talent and was better respected than the cartoonish WWF of the time. It's just plain wrong to call it a second rate promotion.

Yeah, that was more of a regional thing at the time and the promotions were 1a and 1b, if anything. You couldn't tell my Carolinian grandparents that the top promotion was anything other than Crockett/NWA. I do think that Flair is spouting off to try and have people discussing things other than DSOTR, and I vehemently disagree with his opinion, but I don't think you can reasonably argue that Flair was anything other than one of the greatest and most popular professional wrestlers of all time. That's just revisionist history.

It sounded as if that person had never seen NWA programming when they were younger. I'm 40 and I started watching NWA wrestling when I was 5 and that came to include WWF, AWA and WCCW and eventually WCW, ECW and SMW.

Flair threads are starting to go the way of certain other threads of old man yells at cloud takes, how much attention and stock do you really wanna give them?

Flair will change his mind when needs Danielson to buy a belt or a robe off him to bail Naitch out of more financial misdemeanors.

I'd be totally fine if we just stopped quoting Ric Flair all together.
It's not like he ever says anything worth a shit.

I don't imagine Bryan especially gives a shit about if he has Flair's endorsement. I don't think anyone wants Flair's endorsement right now.

I mean I think Flair is a trash person and I disagree with him but at least he's phrasing it as his opinion and not a fact.
