It's not a knock against their talent. But there's a bunch of actors where it's hard to see them as anything other than 1 character.
Like Michael Richards. Dude could get a role playing the president and you'd be like "Why is Kramer trying to run the country?"
And Matt LeBlanc, you're always gonna expect him to ask how you doin?

Many of us here watch animated stuff so we'd be like "Val you are wrong", but the vast majority of people would be like "Hey look it's Luke Skywalker!" and then might remember his name is actually Mark Hamill.

I know Sam Waterston has done tons of incredible work. Dude has an Oscar nomination on his resume, his voice is what many people think of when they think of Abraham Lincoln thanks to Ken Burns, and he did ads for TD Ameritrade, which years later ended up being the reason I chose them as my stock outlet of choice. I'm going to think of him as Jack McCoy first.

Ooohh, tough one, one could argue he's equally known as Indiana Jones

Crazy thing is, I don't think of him as either Luke Skywalker OR the voice of the Joker. I think of him as The Replicator on Criminal Minds.

Ed O'Neil-Until Modern Family he was always known as Al Bundy.
Adam West-Adam was stuck as Batman66.

Ooohh, tough one, one could argue he's equally known as Indiana Jones And as Deckard. And even if people don't know the character's name, people talk about his role in Air Force One a lot. I think Ford's known for more than one might think at first. One that's similar to Harrison Ford would be Sigourney Weaver. I know she's in Ghostbusters, Galaxy Quest, Avatar, etc. but I really only think of her as Ripley. A few others I thought of: Hugh Jackman's basically only known for Wolverine, IMO. William Shatner as Captain Kirk Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy Mac Culkin as Kevin MacAllister Alfonso Ribeiro as Carlton Rowan Atkinson as Mr. Bean If you venture into horror movies, then you get guys like Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger, but that might not be totally fair.

Every time I watch That 70’s Show, I can only see Kurtwood Smith as Clarence Boddicker from Robocop hiding in a secret suburban identity as “Red Foreman”.

What about the Rock/Samuel Jackson/Seth Rogan scenario: You have tons of different characters but the vast majority of them are the actor "playing their own character".
I swear Samuel Jackson has played himself 50+ times.

Hugh Jackman's basically only known for Wolverine, IMO. Depends who you ask... if they're into musicals they can probably list a bunch of things Jackman's done besides Wolverine

Every time I watch That 70’s Show, I can only see Kurtwood Smith as Clarence Boddicker from Robocop hiding in a secret suburban identity as “Red Foreman”. Actually, I like the headcanon of Eric Foreman growing up, moving from Point Place, WI to Detroit when he finally snapped, and taking the name of a criminal he kills when he first gets there. After all, we all grow up to look like our dads when we get older. I know I did.
