Jason Alexander as George Costanza. I think the only other thing people may know now is McDLT commercials. McDLT is definitely tied with "No, he's not the same guy that married Britney Spears in a quickie chapel that one time." I prefer to pretend he is. That’s way more interesting.

I know he was in Aquaman and he did a Punisher movie back in the day, but I'm guessing Dolph Lundgren is Ivan Drago to most people.

Cool, it only took to the first reply in this thread to get a completely wrong answer. Usually it takes at least a few replies before somebody says something wrong. Aaron Paul will always be Jesse Pinkman. Jack Gleeson will always be King Joffrey.

I know most of you know him as Newman. but for me Wayne Knight is Dennis Nedry, and not much else.

And even if people don't know the character's name, people talk about his role in Air Force One a lot. I think Ford's known for more than one might think at first. And his roles as Jack Ryan and Dr Richard Kimble.

Mariska Hargitay will always be Olivia Benson.
But I hope she can prove me wrong.

R. Lee Emery was always going to be know as Drill Sgt. Hartman from Full Metal Jacket and pretty much played that role over and over again in practically every movie/TV show/video game he was casted in thereafter.
Which makes perfect sense because prior to his acting career he was an actual Drill Sargent, first brought in to coach Lou Gossett Jr. during filming of An Officer and a Gentleman and was hired to do the same for Full Metal Jacket until Kubrick and the producers thought Emery could fit the role perfectly himself.

Jaleel White as Urkel and Henry Winkler as The Fonz I think of Henry Winkler as the lawyer from Arrested Development more than the Fonz.

A couple that popped into my mind. Ed O'Neil-Until Modern Family he was always known as Al Bundy. He's still AL Bundy to me. Same with the rest of cast of MWC actually. Nah, I could forget Al when I watched Jay Pritchett. Kind of like how most people see Hyacinth when they see Patricia Routledge. But Hetty Wainthropp was so good, I could forget for a bit. I can't believe this hasn't come up yet... How about, well, everyone on Gilligan's Island? To Tina Louise's chagrin, of course. (though having watched Dobie Gillis a lot lately, I will give Bob Denver even money between Gilligan and Maynard G. Krebs) Also, James Earl Jones' voice = I can't stop thinking of Darth Vader.

I'm quite surprised no one unless I have missed it which is possible has said Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt. While Mission: Impossible is his biggest moneymaker, Tom Cruise definitely falls under the category of actors best known for being themselves.

GW Bailey as Captain Harris Untold airings of M*A*S*H reruns means a lot of people will remember him as Sgt. Rizzo.

A LOT of sitcom roles fit...
Besides some of the aforementioned (the Fonz, Urkel, Al Bundy, Gilligan)...
Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams = Laverne and Shirley Jimmie Walker = J.J. Carroll O'Connor = Archie Bunker Sherman Helmsley = George Jefferson Gary Coleman = Arnold Jackson Dennis Haskins = Mr. Belding Dustin Diamond = Screech Al Lewis = Grampa Munster Don Adams = Maxwell Smart. And even That Other Role was an animated Maxwell Smart type. Jerry Mathers = The Beaver Ken Osmond = Eddie Haskell
The Golden Girls were versatile, but I think Sophia when I think Estelle Getty. Maybe it's hard to not see Blanche when I see Rue too.
Not a sitcom, and kind of stretching, but...Jon Bauman will always be Bowzer despite his attempts to work as himself. Charo as "the cuchi-cuchi girl"

I’d imagine most Star Trek actors fall into this category. Even ones who have done popular stuff outside of Star Trek. Like when I was Orange is the New Black, every time Kate Mulgrew was on screen I kept thinking to myself “Man, Captain Janeway is having a rough time.”
