If you count the one time I picked up my daughter from the theater after she watched a movie with her cousins…once?

Once. I took my daughter to see “In the Heights”. There were about 4 other people in the theater, so we felt safe enough. We just kept our masks up.

I went once to see Free Guy. Wore my mask the whole time, and was one of three people in the theater. Everything else I wanted to see was on HBO Max.

Twice. Both times to see Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 on opening weekend. Pre-COVID, I used to go to theaters regularly, so that first time was really emotional. The second time (w/ my wife) was notable in that a big freakin earthquake shook the hell out of the theater for a surprisingly long time and *nobody* made a sound or moved from their seat.
Planning to see Matrix 4 on Saturday, safety permitting.

It would be 8 for me. After getting my vaccine and theaters started opening up, I've been finding any excuse to go.

Three. Promising Young Woman, Shang-Chi and No Way Home. The first one was in January and feels like it happened five years ago.

I've gone four times this year.
The 35th anniversary of Star Trek IV, the director's cut of Rocky IV, and then saw Dune twice.
Of them all, Rocky IV was the most packed.

Just once to see Spider Man last week.
Last time I went to a theater before that was the last Spider Man movie in 2019.
I don't like theaters, I just go when I know I won't be able to avoid spoilers if I wait for streaming.

Four times, with only one inside a cinema that was even close to resembling a full crowd.
Spiral in May: The theater was largely empty, so there was little to be concerned about.
The Conjuring III in June: This was in a packed auditorium, but it was at a time when the pandemic appeared to be waning, so even in a nearly-capacity crowd, I wasn't sweating too much.
A Quiet Place Part II in June: Again, the theater was largely empty, we had the place mainly to ourselves.
Malignant in September: About a half-full auditorium, there was enough room to stretch out without worrying about the person next to you or behind/in front of you.

None. I've seen some stuff that was released on streaming but I was never big into going to a theater even before pandemic. I do regret not renting out a theater in May when AMC was offering cheap theater rentals and movies I'd love to show my friends... why was I so cheap?
