Once. The Green Knight. Had an awesome time That did account for my one trip to a local art house this year. Glad you enjoyed it, because I think that's one that definitely benefits from home viewing.

Three. Promising Young Woman, Shang-Chi and No Way Home. The first one was in January and feels like it happened five years ago. Completely off topic but it occurred to me earlier that the big freeze here in Texas that killed hundreds and shut the whole state down was only 10 months ago. This year has been a time.

Zero.
I believe last year was zero as well.
The last time I took the family to the theater, they told us that we would not be able to sit together because every single seat in the middle of the theater had been reserved on line in advance. We could only get five separate seats scattered around the edges of the theater. We said no thanks and walked away.

and that's only because my dad wanted to go when he was visiting me
I don't feel comfortable going to the theater right now... and not for the foreseeable future

I think this is the first time in my life I never went all year.
There were a number of things that I wanted to see, but I just never got around to it.

Let's see. At the theater down the street, I saw:
the 35th anniversary screening of Rad a double feature of Dracula and Frankenstein a double feature of Wolf Man and Invisible Man the Rifftrax Live version of Amityville 4 and a live screening of a performance of The Nutcracker
And then at a drive-in near my brother's place, I saw a double feature of Addams Family 2 and No Time to Die. So that's six times all together. It would have been seven, but the one night screening of the director's cut of Rocky IV sold out before I could snag a ticket.

A lot. I will list them off. - Godzilla vs. Kong
- Mortal Kombat
- Army of the Dead
- Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard
- F9: The Fast Saga
- Cruella
- Black Widow
- Space Jam: A New Legacy
- Old
- Snake Eyes: GI Joe Origins
- Free Guy
- WWE Summerslam 2021
- Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
- The Suicide Squad
- Copshop
- Queenpins
- No Time to Die
- The Many Saints of Newark
- Dune (2021)
- My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission
- Red Notice
- Eternals
- Ghostbusters: Afterlife
- Venom: Let There Be Carnage
- Gremlins (a theater showed it)
- Don't Look Up
- Spider-Man: No Way Home
So that's 26 movies, but I went 28 times because I saw one of those movies twice and because I saw Summerslam in theaters.

Something that is surprising to me looking at these lists is how many people still went to theaters for films that were available simultaneously on streaming services.

Same here. Last summer when theaters had nothing new to show, one I regularly go to ran a bunch of old movies so they could keep the lights on. I saw the first Ghostbusters, the first Back to the Future, and the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead and I own all of them on DVD, Blu-ray, and/or digital. I was the only person in the theater for each of them, and it was an absolute blast.
