 Today in Ring of Honor History: October 28- 2006: Ring of Honor held "Irresistible Forces" in Chicago Ridge, IL. With their last two matches ended in time limit draws ["Fight of the Century" - 8/5/06, "Survival of the Fittest 2006" - 10/6/06], ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson and Samoa Joe met in a "Anything Goes" grudge match with no time limit. After three straight loses, Colt Cabana and Jimmy Jacobs finally picked up a win as a tag team, besting Jimmy Rave and Sal Rinauro. Slowly deteriorating for months, the lose finally brought about the end of The Embassy, with Rave deciding to go solo, while Rinauro was quietly dropped from the roster. Despite being a victory, the match would also bring about the end of Cabana and Jacob's partnership. Following the match, Cabana's girlfriend Lacey offered him a contract to officially join Lacey's Angels, but instead of signing, Cabana dumped Lacey due to her treatment of Jacobs. Cabana tried to get Jacobs to leave with him, but Jacobs sided with Lacey and violently attacked Cabana, kicking off their bloody four month feud. After months of insisting he was not biased against the ROH wrestlers, just Homicide, Ring of Honor Commission Jim Cornette proved himself a liar by congratulating Adam Pearce and Top of the Class Trophy holder Shane Hagadorn on a tainted victory over Irish Airborne. Later in the night, Pearce and Hagadorn helped Steve Corino score a tainted victory of his own over Delirious, but the decision was reversed when the referee learned what happened. However, as Cornette had personally asked Corino to face Delirious (due to finding him to be an annoying problem), he used his authority as Commissioner to overrule the referee, who he threatened to fire if he did not name Corino the winner. The Briscoes found they were not as adept at singles wrestling as they were at tag team wrestling, as Jay Briscoe came up short against Matt Sydal, while Mark Briscoe fell to Davey Richards. Austin Aries took on Christopher Daniels in a friendly exhibition match, while Roderick Strong tried to do likewise with Shingo, only to end up getting put through a table. And Brent Albright picked up his first win in ROH by whooping Trik Davis. - 2017: ROH held "Soaring Eagle Cup" in Mount Pleasant, MI. With the exception of "Do or Die V" [8/20/05] (which was a bonus show), it is the only Ring of Honor show that has never been released on video. It was not released on DVD, made available for streaming on HonorClub or Fite, and was not aired on television. The only footage that has ever been released publicly (that I've been able to find) is the aftermath of a time limit draw between ROH World Champion Cody and former champion Christopher Daniels, with Daniels refusing Cody's request for five more minutes. The bulk of the show was dedicated to the Soaring Eagle Cup tournament, which was pretty much Survival of the Fittest with five opening round matches instead of six. After besting Flip Gordon in the first round, Dalton Castle outlasted Frankie Kazarian, Matt Taven and Silas Young in the Four-Way Elimination finals to be the first and only winner of the Cup. The match between Cody and Daniels was an opening round match in the tournament, but as it ended in a draw, neither wrestler advanced. The other participants in the tournament were Cheeseburger, Jay Lethal, and Jay White. White's opening round match against Kazarian was his last in his year and a half long Ring of Honor excursion, and he returned to New Japan a week later repackaged as the "Switchblade". In the only non-tournament match of the night, the Motor City Machine Guns defended the ROH World Tag Team Championship in a Three-Way Tag Team match against Nick Jackson and Adam Page of Bullet Club and The Dawgs. - 2018: ROH sailed on with night two of "Chris Jericho's Rock 'N' Wrestling Rager at Sea". The Sea of Honor Tournament continued in quarter final action, with Jay Briscoe advancing over Cheeseburger while his brother Mark Briscoe advanced over Adam Page, and Flip Gordon advancing over Marty Scurll. Dalton Castle was scheduled to face Christopher Daniels in the fourth quarter final match, but he was forced to withdraw due to a concussion. Fortunately for him the powers that be allowed a substitute to take his place, and as a result former CHIKARA wrestler "Smoothing Sailin'" Ashley Remington came out of retirement for one night to defeat Daniels and advance Castle to the semifinals (Castle subsequently made the world's fastest recovery from a concussion and was cleared to compete the next day). In the main event of the show, ROH World Champion Jay Lethal came out on top in a non-title Four Corner Survival match against ROH World Tag Team Champion Frankie Kazarian, Kenny King and "Real ROH World Champion" Matt Taven. Cody squared off with Delirious, while his wife Brandi Rhodes teamed with WOH World Champion Sumie Sakai against Jenny Rose and Mandy Leon. And Silas Young and Beer City Bruiser took on The Dawgs. |

Oh wow! Had no idea Soaring Eagle Cup wasn't released. Kinda cool that there's a lost Ring of Honor show. Something to hope resurfaces.

 Today in Ring of Honor History: October 29- 2005: Ring of Honor held "This Means War" in Woodbridge, CT. The show was headlined by Bryan Danielson defending the ROH World Championship against 2005 Survival of the Fittest winner Roderick Strong in what was their first time facing each other in ROH. The match was first in their trilogy over the title ["Vendetta" - 11/5/05; "Supercard of Honor" - 3/31/06], and its ending saw one of the most bizarre finishes in Ring of Honor history. After half an hour of hard hitting wrestling, things exploded in the final minute as the two seemingly got into a shoot fight after Strong appeared to have legitimately knock out Danielson with an elbow strike. Nigel McGuinness took a break from defending the ROH Pure Championship, competing instead in a Four Corner Survival match against BJ Whitmer, NOSAWA, and the former Ebessan, Kikutaro. However, just because he was taking a break from defending the title, he didn't take a break from being a dick of a champion, as he attacked Claudio Castagnoli following his 20-minute time limit draw against Alex Shelley. Austin Aries and AJ Styles faced off in their first singles match ever against each other. In a continuation of his feud against Homicide, Colt Cabana took on the "West Coast Rottweiler" B-Boy. Jay Lethal was originally scheduled wrestled Christopher Daniels, but when Daniels did not arriving at the building in time, Lethal had to settle for wrestling Curry Man instead (Daniels was upset when he learned he missed Curry Man again ["Dragon Gate Invasion" - 8/27/05]. Azrieal and Davey Andrews picked up a win over newcomers Jason Blade and Kid Mikaze. Mitch Franklin made his professional wrestling debut by being the latest ROH Wrestling Academy student to be murdered by Ricky Reyes. And in a bit of trivia, notably absent from the show was Samoa Joe, making this the first show he had missed since "Night of the Butcher" [12/7/02]. - 2016: ROH held a television taping in Baltimore, MD. The final taping before "Final Battle 2016" [12/2/16], the night saw several wrestlers having to pull double duty. Ultimo Guerrero, Hechicero and Okumura represented CMLL in the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship Tournament, winning against The Addiction and Kamaitachi in the opening round, only to lose to The Kingdom in the semifinals. The tournament match would be Kamaitachi's last in his Ring of Honor excursion, while The Addiction would go on to be 0-2 for the evening, later losing to The Briscoes. The Briscoes in turn would go 1-1, later teaming with Jay Lethal and Silas Young in a losing effort against the Motor City Machine Guns, Lio Rush and Jay White. The Eight-Man Tag Team match would be Lio Rush's second win of the night, as earlier he defeated Jonathan Gresham, while also being Silas Young's second loss, as earlier he was defeated by Kyle O'Reilly. The duo of Colt Cabana and Dalton Castle would go 1-1, first losing to Shane Taylor and Keith Lee, then later winning a squash match over Ken Dixon and Preston Quinn. Their victory would be their match as a tag team, as immediately after it Cabana did the unthinkable and attacked Castle, turning heel for the first time in ROH since 2003. Adam Page challenged Bobby Fish for the ROH World Television Championship, Kevin Sullivan managed BJ Whitmer and Punishment Martinez in a tag match against War Machine, Donovan Dijak faced Joey Daddiego, and Cheeseburger and Will Ferrara squared off with The Tempura Boyz. While most tapings consist of four episodes being recorded, that night saw five, as an extra episode was done showcasing the Women of Honor. Veda Scott wrestled her final match in Ring of Honor, teaming with Kennadi Brinks against Sumie Sakai and Faye Jackson. Also competing in her final match was ODB, who took on Kelly Klein. Deonna Purrazzo faced Candice LeRae, and Mandy Leon wrestled Jessicka Havok. - 2018: ROH continued on with night three of "Chris Jericho's Rock 'N' Wrestling Rager at Sea". The Sea of Honor Tournament was nearing its end, with Flip Gordon advancing to the finals over Dalton Castle, while Jay Briscoe advanced over Mark Briscoe. Flip would pull double duty that day, later teaming with Brandi Rhodes against Cheeseburger and Sumie Sakai. That match was Sakai's second of the evening as well, as earlier she made the very first defense of a Ring of Honor title at sea, retaining the WOH World Championship against Jenny Rose. The main event saw Chris Jericho and The Young Bucks team up as the "Alpha Club" to take on Kenny Omega, Cody and Marty Scurll, in what was their final time teaming under the name Bullet Club. Scurll would also be part of the double duty crew, competing in an interpromotional match against Impact Wrestling's Sami Callihan. The Addiction picked up a win in a Four-Way Tag Team match over ROH World Champion Jay Lethal and Cheeseburger, Silas Young and Beer City Bruiser, and The Dawgs. And Adam Page, Kenny King and ROH World Tag Team Champion Scorpio Sky faced off in a Three-Way match. |

 Today in Ring of Honor History: October 30- 2018: Ring of Honor held their fourth and final show as part of "Chris Jericho's Rock 'N' Wrestling Rager at Sea". Flip Gordon scored what was then his biggest win in ROH, besting Jay Briscoe to win the Sea of Honor Tournament. Jay Lethal made the first successful defense of the ROH World Championship at sea, retaining it against ROH World Tag Team Champion Scorpio Sky. Delirious and Matt Taven squared off in a good old fashioned "Kiss My Foot" match. Jenny Rose challenged the chinless wonder James Ellsworth for the World Intergender Championship. And in the main event, Mario (Matt Jackson), Luigi (Nick Jackson), Yoshi (Adam Page), Bowser (Cody) and Wario (Marty Scurll), backed up by their friends Princess Peach (Mrs. Matt Jackson), Princess Daisy (Brandi Rhodes) and Toad (Kenny Omega), joined forces in a 10-Man Tag Team match against the Impact Wrestling contingent of Impact World Champion Johnny Impact, Impact X Division Champion Brian Cage, Impact World Tag Team Champions LAX, and Sami Callihan. - 2020: ROH aired their lasted episode of television from Philadelphia, PA. In the main event, ROH World Tag Team Champion Jonathan Gresham defeated Tracy Williams to become the first ROH Pure Champion in fourteen years. And EC3 made his in-ring debut, teaming with The Briscoes against Shane Taylor Promotions. |

 Today in Ring of Honor History: October 31- 2021: Ring of Honor streamed a special Halloween episode of television from Philadelphia, PA. The episode was originally scheduled to air on television, but due to technical difficulties with Sinclair Broadcasting, which suffered a ransomware attack a week prior, the episode was streamed on YouTube while a special on Jay Lethal being aired in its place on television. In the main event, the odd squad of Danhausen, PCO and Sledge challenged Shane Taylor Promotions for the ROH World Six-Man Championship. ROH Women's World Champion Rok-C teamed with Quinn McKay to face Miranda Alize and the monster Max the Impaler. And in a randomly paired "Trick or Treat" Four-Way Tag Team match, the duo of Silas Young and Rey Horus came out on top over the teams of Demonic Flamita and O'Shay Edwards, EC3 and World Famous CB, and Matt Taven and Flip Gordon. |

 Today in Ring of Honor History: November 1- 2003: Ring of Honor held "Main Event Spectacles" in Elizabeth, NJ. The show would see the Briscoe Brothers defeat Special K to win the ROH Tag Team Championship for the first time, Bryan Danielson returning after a seven-month absence for rematch against AJ Styles one year in the making ["All-Star Extravaganza" - 11/9/02], and CM Punk and Steve Corino become co-winners in a non-title Four Corner Survival match involving ROH World Champion Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels (which marked the only time Corino and Daniels, who feuded for half the year, ever wrestled each other in ROH). However, the show would best be remember for the first ever Scramble Cage match, or more accurately what happened immediately after it. What made the Scramble Cage different from a regular steel cage were platforms placed on the four corners of the cage, which allowed the wrestlers to hit insane dives off the top of the cage. The Backseat Boyz would win the inaugural Scramble Cage, defeating the Carnage Crew, The SAT, Special K's Hydro and Angel Dust, and the team of Teddy Hart and the debuting Jack Evans. After the completion of the match, Hart decided he wasn't done, so he stopped selling and began repeatedly climbing the "30 foot cage" to hit unplanned dives onto other wrestlers (which included a Shooting Star Press on Special K that saw him land knee-first on Angel Dust's ribs), before simply climbing up and repeatedly doing backflips until he threw up. Surprisingly, that didn’t go over well with the other wrestlers, most notably DeVito in front of the camera (who gave him a couple of stiff slaps with a leather strap) and CM Punk backstage (who maintains the cage wasn't 30 feet). While Jack Evans would go on to have a lengthy run in ROH as major player, Teddy Hart did not, wrestling one more match in the Gabe Sapolsky Era ["At Our Best" - 3/13/04], and one during the Adam Pearce Era ["Final Battle 2009" - 12/19/09] (that appearance again saw him go off script post-match, with Hart delivering a long, rambling promo while referee Bryce Remsburg continuously yelled at him to get out of the ring as there was a literal blizzard going on outside and they still had an hour long main event to due). Outside of Hart acting like the Kayne West of wrestling, Dan Maff bested Colt Cabana to earn his second point in Block B of the Field of Honor tournament, tying him with Cabana and BJ Whitmer. Whitmer, meanwhile, wrestled Homicide in their only singles match together in ROH.  Today in Ring of Honor History: November 2- 2007: Ring of Honor held "Glory by Honor VI: Night One" in Philadelphia, PA. The show was headlined by a special appearance by the legendary Mitsuharu Misawa, who teamed with fellow Pro Wrestling NOAH star KENTA in a 30-minute time limit draw against former ROH World Champion Takeshi Morishima and Naomichi Marufuji. Unfortunately, though, his performance was hindered due to being sick and wrestling with a fever. After suffering a torn bicep in his first title defense ["Chaos at the Cow Palace" - 10/21/07], ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness planned on taking the night off, but was goaded by Larry Sweeney into putting the belt on the line against 2007 Survival of the Fittest winner Chris Hero. The Briscoes made their fifteenth successful defense of the ROH World Tag Team Championship, retaining against Roderick Strong and Rocky Romero of the No Remorse Corps. With one win each, Austin Aries and Bryan Danielson squared off in the final match of the Best of Three Series to determine who is the ace of Ring of Honor. The Vulture Squad continued their feud with The Age of the Fall, facing them in full force in a Six-Man Tag Team match. Likewise Kevin Steen and El Generico continued their new feud with The Hangmen 3, taking on Brent Albright and BJ Whitmer. Delirious wrestled Davey Richards, Claudio Castagnoli met Hallowicked, and Ernie Osiris defeated Mitch Franklin to become the new holder of the Top of the Class Trophy. - 2013: ROH held "The Golden Dream" in Cincinnati, OH. The show was originally scheduled to be headlined by Kevin Steen challenging Adam Cole for the ROH World Championship in what would be his first shot at the title since losing it at "Supercard of Honor VII" [4/5/13]. However, Cole was forced to withdraw from the bout due to suffering a concussion during the Champions vs. All-Stars match at "Glory by Honor XII" [10/26/13]. Instead, Steen wrestled a number one contender's match against his longtime rival and the man who defeated him for the title, "Real ROH World Champion" Jay Briscoe, who was returning to in-ring action after four months on the shelf with a shoulder injury. Matt Taven racked up another successful defense of the ROH World Television Championship, retain against Adam Page. Meanwhile, Tommaso Ciampa defeated Jay Lethal and Mark Briscoe in a Three-Way match to become the new number one contender for the title, setting up his showdown with Taven at "Final Battle 2013" [12/14/13]. ROH World Tag Team Champions reDRagon split up for the night to take on Alabama Attitude in singles matches, with Kyle O'Reilly facing Corey Hollis and Bobby Fish taking on Mike Posey. Tied at two wins and two loses, Jimmy Jacobs wrestled the final match of his Trial Series, squaring off against soon-to-be Decade stablemate Roderick Strong (coincidentally, their other teammate BJ Whitmer joined in on commentary for their match). Davey Richards and ACH wrestled their only singles match against each other in ROH, and Michael Elgin met Silas Young in a rematch from ROH TV [Ep. #79 - taped 3/3/13]. - 2019: ROH held "The Experience 2019" in Pittsburgh, PA. To date this was the final edition of "The Experience", Ring of Honor's version of "Cyber Sunday", with fans voting on the match stipulations/participants. The main event would see the return of one of ROH's founding fathers, as with Brody King out with a knee injury, Villain Enterprises' Marty Scurll and PCO teamed with Dan Maff to defend the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship against the fans' choices of Colt Cabana, Jeff Cobb and Cheeseburger. The show marked Maff's first appearance since being stripped of the ROH Tag Team Championship and blackballed from wrestling after a personal falling out with Homicide nearly fifteen years prior ["Back to Basics" - 3/12/05]. In keeping with continuity, commentators stated Maff had come out of retirement after making a recovery from his "career-ending car accident", the excuse Ring of Honor had used to write out Maff. The Six-Man title match would be Jeff Cobb's second of the evening, as earlier he was voted over Eli Isom, Kenny King and PJ Black to be the one to face Dragon Lee in an exhibition match. Meanwhile, as a result of not being selected, Isom, King and Black took part in a Four Corner Survival match with CMLL's Ultimo Guerrero. Marcus Kross and Griff Garrison somehow ended up being more popular that Silas Young and Josh Woods, the Soldiers of Savagery and the Tate Twins (a.k.a. The Boys), being chosen by the fans to challenge The Briscoes for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. ROH World Champion Rush and former champion Matt Taven faced each other for the final time in a mystery partner tag team match, with fans picking Taven to team with Dalton Castle, and Rush teaming ROH World Television Champion Shane Taylor (a replacement for Jay Lethal, who was out after suffering a broken arm at "Honor United 2019: Bolton" [10/27/19]). The night overall would be a horrible one for Taven, as in addition to losing the tag match, the show would also bring about the end of The Kingdom, one of the longest running factions in Ring of Honor history. Late in show Vincent Marseglia and TK O'Ryan (in his final ROH appearance) were found knocked out backstage after being attacked, causing Taven to publicly call out the perpetrator, who ended up being none other than Marseglia himself. Marselia violently attacked his former friend and leader, leaving him a bloody mess and beginning a feud between the two that would last nearly two years ["Glory by Honor XVIII: Night 2" - 8/21/21] (it was dragged out that long in large part due to the COVID-19 pandemic). Mark Haskins and Jonathan Gresham faced off in what fans selected to be a Two out of Three Falls match. And the feud between Tracy Williams and Flip Gordon (and really the feud between LifeBlood and Villain Enterprises) came to an end, with fans choosing for them to settle things in a Last Man Standing match. Before the live stream began, Ring of Honor taped matches for television, with Shane Taylor defending the ROH World Television Championship against the debuting Danhausen, PJ Black facing newcomer Bateman, and 2019 Top Prospect winner Dak Draper taking on Ryan Nova. |

"The Golden Dream" is such a weird show. Normally Steen and Jay Briscoe have pretty incredible chemistry together, but I remember it feeling like something was just off that night.
Also, random side note, I believe this was one of the final ROH events to get a standard-case DVD release before they shifted to the slim cases.
Haven't watched it in over a half-decade but was Strong-Jacobs a satisfying finish to the series?

 Today in Ring of Honor History: November 3- 2006: Ring of Honor held "Honor Reclaims Boston" in Braintree, MA. The show was ROH's first in the Boston area in over a year ["Survival of the Fittest 2005" - 9/24/05], and they kicked things off by bringing back former ROH Pure Champion and Boston native John Walters to face Nigel McGuinness. KENTA began wrapping up his Ring of Honor excursion, teaming with his American protégé Davey Richards in the main event against Austin Aries and Roderick Strong. By way of winning the 2006 Survival of the Fittest tournament [10/6/06], Delirious received his third and final shot against Bryan Danielson for the ROH World Championship, but once again came up short. Building up to their inevitable showdown, Christopher Daniels and Matt Sydal squared off against ROH World Tag Team Champions the Kings of Wrestling in singles matches, with Daniels besting Chris Hero and Sydal defeating Claudio Castagnoli. The night before their long awaited Fight Without Honor, Steve Corino teamed with The Briscoes to defeat his hated enemy Homicide, Samoa Joe and BJ Whitmer in a Six-Man Tag Team match. Jimmy Rave, now on his own for the first time in Ring of Honor in years, came out on the losing end of a singles match against Colt Cabana. And Daizee Haze squared off with future ROH Women's World Champion Mercedes Martinez. - 2007: ROH held "Glory by Honor VI: Night Two" in New York, NY. One night after being partners in a tag team match, the show was headlined by the legendary Mitsuharu Misawa defending the GHC Heavyweight Championship against Pro Wrestling NOAH junior heavyweight KENTA. The match was saved for Ring of Honor in large part due to that fact that wrestlers in different weight classes do not usually face each other in Japanese wrestling (the only other singles match Misawa and KENTA had against each other was during KENTA's Trial Series in 2004). Despite being the biggest match advertised for the show, it did not end up being the main event. Earlier in the night, The Briscoes defended the ROH World Tag Team Championship against Jimmy Jacobs and Necro Butcher of The Age of the Fall, with the match ending in a no contest one minute in after both teams began attacking each other with chairs. Refusing to let their weekend end like that, the Briscoes made a second title defense against The Age of the Fall at the end of the night, this time No Disqualification. After winning a quick squash match against Shane Hagadorn earlier in the show, Austin Aries would likewise make another appearance later on, put his newly earned title shot for the ROH World Championship on the line against Chris Hero. The match was Hero's second of the night as well, as he opened the show with a victory over El Generico. That match saw Hero hit a very impressive top rope leg drop, which would've been even more impressive if a gust of wind didn't suddenly come out of nowhere to cause him to land two feet short (at Larry Sweeney's insistence, Hero had dragged Generico completely across the ring to the far corner before attempting the dive). With Generico in singles action, Kevin Steen teamed with Delirious in a tag match against their common enemies Brent Albright and BJ Whitmer of The Hangmen 3. Back in the building where he got his eye smashed in ["Manhattan Mayhem II" - 8/25/07], Bryan Danielson unleashed his fury in a grudge match with former ROH World Champion Takeshi Morishima. Claudio Castagnoli and Naomichi Marufuji squared off in an exhibition match. Tyler Black scored his first singles victory in Ring of Honor, winning a squash match over Alex Payne. And in his first appearance in the Manhattan Center since winning the title, the New York City fans began turning on injured ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness, with several heckling him for setting up a title match on the next New York show ["Rising Above" - 12/19/07] instead of defending the title that night. - 2012: ROH held their final television taping of the year in Belle Vernon, PA. Kevin Steen made another successful defense of the ROH World Championship, retaining against Mike Bennett, while his S.C.U.M. teammates Jimmy Jacobs and Steve Corino retained the ROH World Tag Team Championship against Rhett Titus and BJ Whitmer. Corino would pull double duty on the show, later facing Jay Briscoe in a Street Fight. The match would be Jay's second of the evening as well, as earlier he teamed with his brother Mark Briscoe to defeat The Head Bangers in a grudge match. Adam Cole faced off with his former friend turned rival Kyle O'Reilly, retaining the ROH World Television Championship. O'Reilly wouldn't leave the show empty handed, though, as he formed a new tag team with Bobby Fish, with the two kicking things off in successful fashion with a victory over the Bravado Brothers. Fish would leave the taping 2-0, having defeated Ryan McBride in a singles match as well. Former ROH World Champion Davey Richards was also part of the double duty crew, losing to Michael Elgin in a rematch from their five star encounter at "Showdown in Sun: Day #2" [3/31/12], before later getting a win over Vinny Marseglia. C&C Wrestle Factory closed out the year the same way they began it [ROH TV: Ep. #27 - taped 3/3/12], with a victory over Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team. Roderick Strong took on his future young boy Tadarius Thomas, Jay Lethal faced Chris Silvio, Adam Page squared off with QT Marshall, and MsChif wrestled Allysin Kay. - 2016: ROH held "Survival of the Fittest 2016: Night 1" in Arlington, TX. The second two-night Survival of the Fittest tournament, the bulk of the show was dedicated to the opening round matches, with the finals taking place the next night. The 2016 edition of the tournament would break away from its tradition format of twelve wrestlers competing in singles matches (or the occasion tag match) in the opening round. Instead, several multi-man matches were held for the first round, and as such the 2016 tournament would be the largest Survival of the Fittest in terms of number of participants, with eighteen wrestlers taking part in it. In singles matches, ROH World Television Champion Bobby Fish would advance over Kenny King, while Jax Dane advanced over Donovan Dijak. In Three-Way matches, Dalton Castle would advance over Chris Sabin and Rhett Titus, while Punishment Martinez advanced over Cheeseburger and Colt Cabana. And in Four Corner Survival matches, Lio Rush would advance over Adam Page, CMLL wrestler Misterioso, Jr., and SHO, while CMLL's Panther advanced over Silas Young, Will Ferrara and YOH. In non-tournament action, The Briscoes won a Three-Way Tag Team match against War Machine and the duo of Shane Taylor and Keith Lee (the match saw Mark Briscoe once again dive off the ring truck). And Kyle O'Reilly and Christopher Daniels faced off in their only singles match ever against each other. - 2018: ROH held a television taping in Atlanta, GA. The episode featured the buildup to Ring of Honor's last major show of the year, "Final Battle 2018" [12/14/18]. In what is to date their final traditional tag team match against each other, longtime rivals The Briscoes and The Young Bucks squared off against each other to determine the number one contenders for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. As with their first encounter nine years prior [ROH on HDNet: Ep. #32 - taped 9/10/09], the final showdown between the two brother tag teams ended without a winner, as both teams were disqualified for using chairs. Meanwhile, ROH World Tag Team Champions Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky made their first successful title defense, retaining over Stuka, Jr. and Guerrero Maya, Jr. of CMLL. Their SoCal Uncensored teammate Christopher Daniels would be less successful, losing in a singles match to Kenny King. ROH World Champion Jay Lethal teamed with his two immediate predecessors, Cody and Dalton Castle, to take on "Real ROH World Champion" Matt Taven and The Kingdom in a Six-Man Tag Team match. As the episodes being taped would take ROH past "Final Battle 2018", Lethal and Taven would face off again that night, each captaining a team in a "Christmas Drawing" 10-Man Tag Team match. Lethal's randomly paired team of ROH World Television Champion Jeff Cobb, Cheeseburger, Rhett Titus and The Kingdom's Vinny Marseglia would emerge victorious over Taven's team of Beer City Bruiser, Brian Milonas, Jonathan Gresham and The Elite's Marty Scurll. That match would be Taven's third of the evening, as early on he won a Handicap match over The Boys. In addition to the 10-Man Tag, Jeff Cobb also competed in a non-title singles match against Josh Woods. Flip Gordon's feud with Bully Ray found him facing Silas Young in an "I Quit" match. Adam Page wrestled his final match on ROH TV, defeated Façade. And in Women of Honor action, Kelly Klein bested Jenny Rose to become the first challenger to enter the WOH World Championship Four Corner Survival match at "Final Battle 2018" [12/14/18], Madison Rayne and Britt Baker teamed up to face The Twisted Sisterz, and Brandi Rhodes wrestled her final match in Ring of Honor, defeating Stella Grey. - 2019: Ring of Honor held "ROH Unauthorized: Hanukkah Comes Early - Eight Crazy Matches Hosted by Colt Cabana" in Columbus, OH. In was it to date the last "ROH Unauthorized", the show saw Colt Cabana take over matchmaking duties for the evening. One night after teaming together, ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion PCO and the newly returned Dan Maff faced off against each other in a No Disqualification match. ROH World Champion Rush teamed with his brother Dragon Lee for the second time in Ring of Honor, with the two of them taking on Mark Haskins and Tracy Williams of LifeBlood. Mark Briscoe and Josh Woods squared off in a singles match, with an added stipulation that every time they made an unsuccessful pin attempt, their respective partners ( Jay Briscoe and Silas Young, who were doing live commentary) would have to do a shot of Jack Daniels. ROH's smallest competitor was paired up with its two biggest, as Cheeseburger teamed with "Double Cheeseburger" ( Beer City Bruiser) and "Triple Cheeseburger" ( Brian Milonas) in a Punderful Six-Man Tag Team match against Dalton White Castle, Kenny Burger King, and Burger Flip Gordon. Delirious teamed up with Mini Delirious against the debuting mysterious masked duo of El Jéfe Cobbo and El Villainisto (a replacement for El Lethál, who had to withdraw from the match due to a broken arm), with the stipulation being that the wrestler pinned or submitted would have to unmask. As such, when Mini Delirious was pinned by Cobbo, he was revealed to be former WWE wrestler Swoggle. Cobbo and Villainisto must have had travel issues getting to the show, as they appeared to have borrowed Jeff Cobb and Marty Scurll's ring gear (complete with Scurll's umbrella). Jonathan Gresham faced off with CMLL wrestler Ultimo Guerrero. Jenny Rose wrestled her final match in Ring of Honor, teaming with Sumie Sakai in a losing effort against The Allure. And ROH senior official Todd "The Dragon" Sinclair and commentator "Macho Man" Ian Riccaboni made their in-ring debuts as competitors, teaming with Colt Cabana, ROH office member Gary Jester and cameraman Camera Man Gator in a 10-Man Tag Team victory over Brian Johnson and Shane Taylor Promotions. The match was made somewhat easier due to Johnson's "Mecca vs. Everybody" attitude causing Shane Taylor Promotions to immediately walk out on him. |

I attended the TV taping in 2012. Headbangers were one of my favorite tag teams growing up, so it was a treat to see them live!
There was a segment with Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team that I don't think made it to TV since there was a constant "F*** YOU, CHARLIE" chant throughout the entire thing.

 Today in Ring of Honor History: November 4- 2005: Ring of Honor held "Showdown in Motown" in Detroit, MI. In an effort to prove he truly was the "Best Wrestler in the World", ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson had sent out open contracts to various promotions for title shots. That night he received his first challenger, TNA wrestler and hometown hero Chris Sabin, who was making his first Ring of Honor appearance since being forced to leave due to the Rob Feinstein Controversy. More memorable than the match itself was the DVD cover for the show, as the unfortunate placement of the title graphic made Danielson and Sabin appear to be naked (with Sabin clearly being the more… confident of the two). ROH subsequently changed the DVD cover, once it was pointed out to them. After meeting the requirement that he did not lose at "This Means War", Claudio Castagnoli was granted his title shot against Nigel McGuinness for the ROH Pure Championship, but was screwed out of the belt when McGuinness successfully pulled off an Eddie Guerrero and caused him to be disqualified. Christopher Daniels scored his first victory over longtime rival Samoa Joe, pinning him in a Four Corner Survival match that included Adam Pearce and Jimmy Jacobs. Pearce and Jacobs were last minute replacements in the match, being added after the scheduled participants Colt Cabana and Homicide injured themselves while brawling around the arena. A few months before they would go after the ROH Tag Team Championship together, AJ Styles and Matt Sydal teamed up for the first time to take on their common enemies Jimmy Rave and Abyss of The Embassy. Generation Next's leader Austin Aries squared off with Alex Shelley in a grudge match, while Roderick Strong and Jack Evans took a break from the Generation Next/Embassy war to face ROH Tag Team Champion Sal Rinauro and Chad Collyer. BJ Whitmer took on Delirious, Allison Danger faced Daizee Haze, and Davey Andrews defeated Derek Dempsey and Shane Hagadorn in a Three-Way Elimination match to become the first holder of the Top of the Class Trophy. - 2006: ROH held "The Bitter End" in Philadelphia, PA. The show was named after the main event, as after four years, nine matches, a ruptured eardrum, a torn AC, attempted murder, and lots of blood, the feud between Homicide and Steve Corino came to an end in a Fight Without Honor. Their feud would not be the only thing to end that night, as due to his increasingly unprofessional behavior, ROH management (with a little prodding from Homicide's TNA pal Konnan) removed Jim Cornette as Ring of Honor Commissioner. Ending as well that night was KENTA's excursion in ROH, with him facing Matt Sydal in his last match. KENTA's exit would not be an entirely pleasant one, as Samoa Joe asked him to deliver a message to Pro Wrestling NOAH, with that message being given in the form of a bitchslap. For his part on the show, Joe continued his feud with ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson by teaming with one of Danielson's toughest opponents of the year, Nigel McGuinness, against American Dragon and Jimmy Rave. Consequently the match would be the start of McGuinness and Rave's feud, as after winning McGuinness called out Rave for being unprofessional when he ran into the crowd to go after a fan who throwing toilet paper at him. Austin Aries and Roderick Strong received their rematch against the Kings of Wrestling for the ROH World Tag Team Championship, but their zeal for payback ended up getting them disqualified. Delirious and Davey Richards teamed up to face The Briscoes, Christopher Daniels squared off with Matt Cross, and Pelle Primeau went crowd surfing in the audience after winning a Four Corner Survival match over BJ Whitmer, Colt Cabana and Tank Toland. - 2016: ROH held "Survival of the Fittest 2016: Night 2" in San Antonio, TX. ROH World Television Champion Bobby Fish outlasted Dalton Castle, Jax Dane, Lio Rush, CMLL's The Panther, and Punishment Martinez in the Six-Way Elimination finals to win the Survival of the Fittest tournament. After defeating Christopher Daniels the night before, Kyle O'Reilly proved to be equally successful against his Addiction tag team partner Frankie Kazarian. Christopher Daniels, meanwhile, took on Jay Briscoe in what was shockingly their first singles match ever against each other. One night after meeting in a Three-Way Tag Team match, War Machine again faced off with Shane Taylor and Keith Lee, this time with no rules. Colt Cabana's new heel attitude led him to a tainted victory over Chris Sabin. Having abandoned "The Cabinet" gimmick ["Road to Final Battle 2016: Night 2" - 10/22/16], Caprice Coleman and The All-Night Express rebranded themselves The Rebellion, and picked up a victory in a Six-Man Tag Team match over Misterioso, Jr. and The Tempura Boyz, before launching an attack on the Motor City Machine Guns and Donovan Dijak. For his part on the show, Dijak faced off with Adam Page. Mark Briscoe took on Silas Young. And longtime indy wrestler and future ROH World Tag Team Champion and ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion Scorpio Sky made his fist Ring of Honor appearance in over six years, teaming with Andy Dalton against Cheeseburger and Will Ferrara in a Future of Honor match. - 2018: ROH held "Survival of the Fittest 2018" in Columbus, OH. After three years of spreading the tournament out over multiple nights, the 2018 version revered back to being held in a single night. First advancing past Silas Young and CMLL's Stuka, Jr. in a Three-Way match in the opening round, The Elite's Marty Scurll outlasted his stablemate Adam Page, Christopher Daniels, CMLL's Guerrero Maya, Jr., Jonathan Gresham and the debuting PJ Black to win the tournament. The other participants: Andrew Everett, Beer City Bruiser, Colin Delaney, Dalton Castle, Flip Gordon, Luchasaurus, and the debuting Tracy Williams. Despite winning the Survival of the Fittest, the night overall was bad for The Elite, as The Kingdom defeated Cody and The Young Bucks to win the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship for the third (and ultimately final) time. ROH World Champion Jay Lethal and ROH World Television Champion Jeff Cobb teamed up to face ROH World Tag Team Champions Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky of SoCal Uncensored in a Champions' Challenge match. And one night after being tag team partners, Madison Rayne bested Britt Baker to become the second challenger to enter the WOH World Championship Four Corner Survival match at "Final Battle 2018" [12/14/18]. |

 Today in Ring of Honor History: November 6- 2004: Ring of Honor held "Weekend of Thunder: Night One" in Revere, MA. The show saw the ROH debut of the legendary Jushin "Thunder" Liger, who took on Bryan Danielson in the main event. ROH World Champion Samoa Joe's disregard for the ROH Pure Championship found him and his protégé Jay Lethal come out on the losing end of a tag team match against Pure Champion John Walters and Nigel McGuinness. After earning their title shot at "Joe vs. Punk II" [10/16/04], Roderick Strong and Jack Evans of Generation Next challenged The Rottweilers for the ROH Tag Team Championship, but came up short. Meanwhile their stablemate Austin Aries continued Generation Next's feud with the Second City Saints, taking on CM Punk in a rematch from "Glory by Honor 3" [9/11/04]. The feud pitting Dan Maff and BJ Whitmer against the Carnage Crew over who is the face of "Ring of Hardcore" found them facing off in a Street Fight, much to the delight of Allison Danger. After winning a Four Corner Survival match over Angel Dust, Dunn and Fast Eddie Vegas, Homicide's pro-New York/anti-Boston attitude talked a fan into the jumping the guardrail, which earned him a free ass kicking curtesy of The Rottweilers. Low Ki took on Chad Collyer, Ace Steel squared off with Jimmy Rave. And Shane Hagadorn made his main show debut, teaming with fellow ROH Wrestling Academy student Davey Andrews against The Outcast Killaz. - 2005: ROH held "Vendetta" in Chicago Ridge, IL. One week after the heated conclusion to their first match ["This Means War" - 10/29/05], Bryan Danielson and Roderick Strong met in the second match of their trilogy for the ROH World Championship. The match would not be the main event, however, as that spot went to Austin Aries, Jack Evans and Matt Sydal of Generation Next teaming with AJ Styles in an Eight Man War against The Embassy. Prince Nana's first match in over a year and a half ["Round Robin Challenge III" - 5/15/04], The Embassy would walk away the winners after Sydal's longtime valet Daizee Haze turned on Generation Next and cost them the match. One night after getting pinned in a Four Corner Survival match, Samoa Joe got his win back against longtime rival Christopher Daniels when the two met in a singles match. The new Lacey's Angels had a successful evening, with BJ Whitmer defeating newcomer Claudio Castagnoli, while Jimmy Jacobs scored a victory over ROH Tag Team Champion Sal Rinauro in a singles match. In his first appearance since being left a bloody mess at "Punk: The Final Chapter" [8/13/05], Ace Steel teamed up with Delirious in a tag team grudge match against Chad Collyer and his partner ROH Pure Champion Nigel McGuinness. Adam Pearce picked up his first win in Ring of Honor, defeating Top of the Class Trophy holder Davey Andrews. Even though he wasn't medically cleared to compete in a sanctioned match, Homicide refused to let his injuries prevent him from getting his hands on Colt Cabana, brawling with him all over the arena and leading to one of the feud's most memorable moments when Homicide duct taped Cabana to the turnbuckle and tried to cut his tongue out with a pair of scissors. ROH Commissioner Jim Cornette arranged a special appearance by his good buddy "Cowboy" Bill Watts. And one night before SHIMMER Women Athlete's two debut shows, Sara Del Rey stepped into an ROH ring for the very first time, facing Lacey in a pre-show bonus match. Several SHIMMER wrestlers seconded the match, with Allison Danger, Daizee Haze, MsChif and Shantelle Taylor (a.k.a. Taylor Wilde) supporting Del Rey, and Cheerleader Mellisa, Rain and Tianna Ringer supporting Lacey. - 2009: ROH kicked off their final round of HDNet tapings for the year in Philadelphia, PA. ROH World Tag Team Champion Davey Richards received his very first shot at the ROH World Championship, challenging Austin Aries in a Four Corner Survival match that included Kenny Omega and Davey Richards. To settle the issue of future challengers, new Executive Producer Jim Cornette, having grown tired of the sham "A Double L Double" (Austin Aries' Lucky Lottery), created the Pick 6 Contenders Series. Future title shots (minus those already guaranteed to Richards ["Aries vs. Richards" - 11/13/09] and Omega ["The Omega Effect" - 11/14/09]) would only be granted to wrestlers in the Pick 6, who would have to defending their rankings much like a title belt. If a wrestler defeats someone in the Pick 6, they claim that ranking (along with a $2,500 bonus), while the previously holder and everyone below them falls down one spot, with the person at #6 falling out of the rankings. To determine the initial contenders, ROH held three Pick 6 matches that night, with Tyler Black defeating Sonjay Dutt to claim the #2 ranking, Colt Cabana defeating Claudio Castagnoli to claim the #4 ranking, and Delirious defeating Kenny King to claim the #5 ranking. Matches to determine ranks #1, #3 and #6 were held the following night. The Briscoes faced off with their longtime rivals Kevin Steen and El Generico for the final time in Ring of Honor, defeating them to become the number one contenders for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Necro Butcher's feud with The Embassy found him taking on Joey Ryan. Kyle O'Reilly made his ROH television debut, losing to Chris Hero. Erick Stevens won a squash match over Remy Marcel. And nearly three years to the day of his last appearance ["The Bitter End" - 11/4/06], Steve Corino made his return to Ring of Honor and quickly demonstrated his attitude hadn't improved much, choosing to forfeit his match to Lance Lude instead of wrestling him, as defeating Lude wouldn't amount to much. While his first four years in ROH saw him infrequently appearing off an on, after his return in 2009, Corino would remain in Ring of Honor fulltime for the next seven years. - 2011: ROH held their final television taping of the year in Louisville, KY. With ROH recording five episodes instead of their usual four, the night would see several wrestlers pulling double duty. In two first time singles match in Ring of Honor, ROH World Champion Davey Richards faced off with his protégé Kyle O'Reilly in a non-title match, before taking on Michael Elgin in a Proving Ground match. O'Reilly and Elgin would both pull double duty as well, with O'Reilly teaming with his Future Shock partner Adam Cole against The Young Bucks, while Elgin competed in a Handicap match against Raphael Constantine and Sean Casey. Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander also found themselves on the double duty crew, first squaring off with The Briscoes, then later taking on the Bravado Brothers. The Briscoes' match would end in a no contest due to the interference of ROH World Tag Team Champions Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team. That interference would come back to bite the champions later when the Briscoes cost them a Proving Ground match against The All-Night Express. After losing the ROH World Television Championship to Jay Lethal on the second episode [taped 8/13/11], El Generico received a rematch for the title, wrestling Lethal to a time limit draw. And after months of repeatedly disrupting shows, former ROH wrestler Kevin Steen stopped by with his lawyers for a settle negotiation with Jim Cornette, leading to his former friend Steve Corino challenging him to a match at "Final Battle 2011" [12/23/11] that would either bring Steen back for good, or get rid of him once and for all. The remained of the episodes were comprised of filler matches, with Eddie Edwards squaring off with Andy Ridge, Mike Bennett against Jamin Olivencia, Mike Mondo facing Alex Silva, TJ Perkins taking on Chris Silvio, and Tommaso Ciampa versus Shiloh Jonze. - 2021: ROH aired their latest episode of television from Philadelphia, PA. After winning the 2021 Honor Rumble ["Death Before Dishonor XVIII" - 9/12/21], Alex Zayne received his shot at the ROH World Championship, challenging Bandido. And Josh Woods made his first defense of the ROH Pure Championship, retaining against LSG. |

The match would eventually lead to the start of Danielson's first feud with Homicide, as after the loss he would be attacked by Low Ki and The Rottweilers. Speaking of Homicide, as he was barred from challenging for the ROH World Championship for the remainder of Joe's reign, he turned his attention to the ROH Pure Championship that night, challenging John Walters. Though he was unsuccessful in his match, his fellow Rottweilers weren't, with Ricky Reyes and Rocky Romero retaining the ROH Tag Team Championship against Dan Maff and BJ Whitmer. The feud between the Second City Saints and Generation Next rolled on, with CM Punk and Ace Steel defeating Austin Aries and Roderick Strong in a No Disqualification match. Izzy ended Special K's long losing streak, besting Fast Eddie Vegas, Jack Evans and Trent Acid in a Four Corner Survival match to get the group's first victory since the "Second Anniversary Show" [2/14/04]. Unfortunately Dixie and Angel Dust wouldn't be as fortunate that night, losing to The Ring Crew Express. That match ended up taking a long time to get started, as CM Punk had staged a sit-in in the middle of the ring, refusing to move until Samoa Joe gave in to his demand for another shot at the ROH World Championship ["All-Star Extravaganza 2" - 12/4/04]. To fill his time while he waited, Punk read the new children's book "Tales from Wrescal Lane", given to him by Mick Foley, who had stopped by the show to see Jushin Liger. Jimmy Rave picked up a victory over Jay Lethal, the Carnage Crew punished ROH Wrestling Academy students Davey Andrews and Anthony Franco, and after being paired together by Ricky Steamboat ["Joe vs. Punk II" - 10/16/04], Chad Collyer and Nigel McGuinness now faced off against each other, wrestling to a time limit draw. - 2009: ROH wrapped out their final HDNet taping of the year in Philadelphia, PA. And El Generico took on Rhett Titus, while his tag team partner Kevin Steen won a short match against Alex Payne. - 2011: ROH held "Gateway to Honor" in Collinsville, IL. One night after coming to blows at the television taping, ROH World Champion Davey Richards and his American Wolves partner Eddie Edwards tried to move past it and work together in a match against The All-Night Express. Four months after winning the Number One Contendership Tournament ["Tag Team Turmoil" - 7/8/11], Future Shock finally received their title shot against Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team for the ROH World Tag Team Championship.  Today in Ring of Honor History: November 7- 2008: Ring of Honor held "The French Connection" in Montreal, QC. The show was the first under new booker Adam Pearce, and saw immediate changes put into effect. After nearly seven years of referees having discretion whether or not to count out wrestlers fighting on the floor, effective immediately all matches had a strict 20 count. As such, shows for the next several months would see a number of matches end by count out, as well as an increase in matches ending in disqualifications or no contests (including on this night's show). The main event saw all the champions in one match, with Nigel McGuinness defending the ROH World Championship in a Four-Way Elimination match against ROH World Tag Team Champions Kevin Steen and El Generico, and FIP World Heavyweight Champion Go Shiozaki (the final time the FIP title had relevance in Ring of Honor). One night before their Dog Collar match, Austin Aries teamed up with Bryan Danielson to take on Jimmy Jacobs and his Age of the Fall partner Tyler Black. Delirious faced Jerry Lynn, while The Age of the Fall's new monster Brodie Lee took on its old one, Necro Butcher. On the Sweet n' Sour, Inc. front, Roderick Strong squared off with his former No Remorse Corps partner Davey Richards in a grudge match, while Erick Stevens fought Eddie Edwards. And Kenny Omega and Kenny King teamed together in a losing effort against The Briscoes, beginning a nine month long rivalry between the two. The Kennys would lose after King walked out on Omega mid-match to hang out with his new friend Rhett Titus, forming a partnership that would eventually be known as The All-Night Express. - 2009: After two days of HDNet tapings, ROH closed out their triple shot weekend with "Boiling Point" in Edison, NJ. The show would be Ring of Honor's last in Edison, and the second to last to be held in the state of New Jersey ["Killer Instinct" - 10/6/12]. In the main event, Kevin Steen and El Generico wrestled the final match in their feud against The American Wolves, taking on ROH World Tag Team Champion Davey Richards, who teamed with Chris Hero as Eddie Edwards was still recovering from his broken elbow. Following the implementation of the Pick 6 Contenders Series during the HDNet tapings, Jay Briscoe became the first wrestler to fall out of it, losing his #6 spot to Claudio Castagnoli. #1 ranked Roderick Strong was originally scheduled to take on Pro Wrestling NOAH's KENTA, but when he withdrew from the show due to a knee injury, Strong instead defended his spot against the #4 ranked Delirious in their first singles match in ROH since their Fight Without Honor two years prior ["Live in Tokyo" - 7/16/07]. Kenny Omega defeated Sonjay Dutt to successfully retain his #3 ranking. Tyler Black was scheduled to defend his #2 ranking against Kenny King, but when that match got ruined, he teamed with Colt Cabana and Grizzly Redwood in a Six-Man Tag Team match against King, ROH World Champion Austin Aries and Rhett Titus. Necro Butcher's feud with The Embassy continued with him teaming up with Mark Briscoe against Erick Stevens and Joey Ryan. And Bobby Dempsey won his last singles match on the main show, defeating Tony Kozina. - 2014: ROH held "Survival of the Fittest 2014: Night One" in Columbus, OH. The show was the start of the first multi-night Survival of the Fittest tournament, and saw all six opening round matches take place, with the finals being held the next night: Adam Cole advanced over 2006 Survival of the fittest winner Delirious, Adam Page advanced over Cedric Alexander, Hanson advanced over 2012 winner ROH World Television Champion Jay Lethal, Matt Sydal advanced over ACH, 2005 winner Roderick Strong advanced over his former Decade young boy Tadarius Thomas, and Tommaso Ciampa advanced over Will Ferrara. In non-tournament action, The Briscoes squared off with Michael Bennett and Matt Taven of The Kingdom in a No Disqualification grudge match, and The Addiction faced Jimmy Jacobs and BJ Whitmer of The Decade. - 2018: New Japan returned to Ring of Honor for the "Global Wars 2018 Tour", kicking things off in Lewiston, Maine. The 2018 tour would be New Japan's last "Global Wars", with CMLL taking their place in 2019. The main event saw ROH World Champion Jay Lethal team up with Chris Sabin, Jonathan Gresham and IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion KUSHIDA in an Eight-Man Tag Team match against Los Ingobernables de Japón. New ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions The Kingdom made their first defense, retaining against former champions Dalton Castle and The Boys. ROH World Tag Team Champions Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky competed in a non-title match, facing The Bouncers, while their SoCal Uncensored stablemate Christopher Daniels took on Juice Robinson. The Elite had a dismal night, with The Young Bucks falling to Bully Ray and Silas Young, while Cody and Adam Page lost to The Briscoes in a match so intense, it blew the power (it was actually the really severe storm outside that caused the building to temporarily lose power mid-match).  Today in Ring of Honor History: November 8- 2008: Ring of Honor closed out Adam Pearce's first weekend as booker with "Bound by Hate" in Markham, ON. The show was named after Austin Aries and Jimmy Jacobs, whose hate filled feud had led them to face off in a very bloody Dog Collar match. Despite being the show's namesake, it was not the main event that evening. After repeatedly coming out on the losing end in 2007, Kevin Steen and El Generico finally turned the tables, retaining the ROH World Tag Team Championship against their greatest rivals The Briscoes. Necro Butcher challenged Nigel McGuinness for the ROH World Championship, but failed to gain the title when, for the second night in a row, he won by disqualification after being attacked by The Age of the Fall. Costing Necro the ROH World Championship would be the one bright spot for The Age of the Fall that night, as they went 0-3 for the evening. In addition to Jimmy Jacobs coming up short in the Dog Collar match, Delirious and Brodie Lee lost via count out in a grudge tag team match against Rhett Titus and his new partner Kenny King, while Tyler Black failed to win a Three-Way match against Bryan Danielson and newcomer Kenny Omega. That match remains the only time Black and Omega have ever wrestled each other. Former enemies Roderick Strong and Erick Stevens united to take on their common foes Eddie Edwards and Go Shiozaki of Sweet n' Sour, Inc. Jerry Lynn and Davey Richards faced each other for the only time in Ring of Honor. And Mitch Franklin scored his first victory after being renamed Grizzly Redwood, defeating Alex Payne. - 2014: ROH held "Survival of the Fittest 2014: Night Two" in Toledo, OH. After advancing over Delirious the night before, Adam Cole outlasted Adam Page, Hanson, Matt Sydal, Roderick Strong and Tommaso Ciampa in a Six-Way Elimination match to win Survival of the Fittest. During the match Strong had to contend with his former Decade teammate BJ Whitmer, while Ciampa was repeatedly attacked by Michael Elgin, which took him out of the match for a long period due to requiring medical assistance after being thrown through a table. Outside of the tournament, Jay Lethal made another successful defense of the ROH World Television Championship, retaining against Cedric Alexander in a rematch from "All-Star Extravaganza VI" [9/6/14]. ROH World Champion Jay Briscoe teamed with his brother Mark Briscoe to take on The Addiction. Michael Bennett faced Will Ferrara, while his Kingdom teammate Matt Taven squared off with ACH in a match with Maria Kanellis providing really insightful commentary (Ferrara accidently knocked her out with a spear, so Bennett, being a concerned husband, just propped her up on the commentary table for the match). And RD Evans' #TheNewStreak extended to 173-0 when he team with Moose to defeat The Decade, while The Romantic Touch's losing streak extended to 0-17 when he fell to Tadarius Thomas. - 2018: ROH and New Japan continued the "Global Wars 2018 Tour" in Lowell, MA. ROH World Champion Jay Lethal teamed with Jonathan Gresham in the main event to win a Four-Way Tag Team match over ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions Vinny Marseglia and TK O'Ryan of The Kingdom, The Young Bucks, and Chris Sabin and IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion KUSHIDA. ROH World Television Champion Jeff Cobb was once again in a non-title match, facing Christopher Daniels. Likewise ROH World Tag Team Champions Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky of SoCal Uncensored where in non-title action, as they split up for the night to compete in singles matches, with Kazarian taking on Flip Gordon, and Sky squaring off with Jay Briscoe. Jenny Rose tried to earn a shot at the WOH World Championship, but came up short in a Proving Ground match against Sumie Sakai. Los Ingobernables de Japón had a largely successful night, with Tetsuya Naito winning against Adam Page in a singles match, while EVIL and SANADA bested Bully Ray and Silas Young in a tag team match. BUSHI was the only one to have an off night, losing to ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion and self-proclaimed "Real ROH World Champion" Matt Taven.  Today in Ring of Honor History: November 9- 2002: Ring of Honor held "All-Star Extravaganza" in Philadelphia, PA. Headlined by Low Ki and Steve Corino representing ROH in an interpromotional match against Pro Wrestling ZERO-ONE's Shinjiro Otani and Masato Tanaka, the show would see a number of firsts in Ring of Honor. In addition to the main event, Low Ki was part of the very first defense of the ROH Tag Team Championship, teaming with Homicide and Doug Williams in a Six-Man Tag Team match against champions Christopher Daniels and Donovan Morgan of The Prophecy, and their hired gun Samoa Joe. Besides being the first defense of the ROH Tag titles, the match marked the first ever meeting between future rivals Samoa Joe and Homicide, as well as the first time future Rottweiler members Homicide and Low Ki teamed together in Ring of Honor. Homicide would have another pivotal moment of his ROH career that night, as his feud with Steve Corino quickly escalated when he attacked Corino in the locker room after the show and stabbed him in the eye with a fork as payback for Corino costing them the match against CZW's Backseat Boyz at "Glory by Honor" [10/5/02]. Speaking of "Glory by Honor", after winning their non-title match on that show, 18-year-old Jay Briscoe received his first shot at the ROH Championship, challenging Xavier in his first title defense. To settle the issue of future challengers, as well as to have a quasi-secondary singles title, Ring of Honor created the Number One Contender's Trophy. To determine the first holder, ROH held a Gauntlet match featuring The Amazing Red, "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, Michael Shane and Paul London, with the winner later facing AJ Styles for the trophy. Besides Punk's in-ring debut and adding another chapter to the London/Shane feud, the gauntlet and finals saw three first time matches: Paul London vs. The Amazing Red, Bryan Danielson vs. Paul London, and AJ Styles vs. Bryan Danielson. It also featured a surprise appearance by Tommy Dreamer, who stopped by to put over Ring of Honor as the spiritual successor to Extreme Championship Wrestling. Dreamer wouldn't be the only ECW alum to appear on the show, as former ECW Television Champion JT Smith made a special appearance, only to be on the receiving end of a beatdown by Special K. For their part on the show, Dixie and newest member Joey Matthews represented Special K in a Tag Team Scramble match against Da Hit Squad, Divine Storm and The SAT. Allison Danger wrestled her first singles match in ROH, losing to Alexis Laree in a continuation of her feud with the Christopher Street Connection. And the Carnage Crew once again did battle with The Ring Crew Express, whoopin' them good in a Bunkhouse Brawl. - 2018: ROH and New Japan continued the "Global Wars 2018 Tour" in Buffalo, NY. Best Friends picked up a big win in the main event, defeating The Briscoes and The Elite's IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Cody and Adam Page in a Three-Way Tag Team match. Omnipresent supergalactic oneness "Constellation" Chris Sabin earned a shot at the ROH World Championship by taking Jay Lethal to a time limit draw in a Proving Ground match. Despite getting a title shot, neither wrestler was satisfied with a draw and agreed to restart the match, this time with the title on the line, but it was quickly ruined by Kenny King, who was scheduled to face Lethal for the belt on the final night of the tour [11/11/18]. For his part on the show, King was booked to wrestle a warmup match for his title shot, only to end up feeling disrespected when his opponent turned out to be Cheeseburger. ROH World Television Champion Jeff Cobb was once again in non-title action, winning a singles match over EVIL. All in all it was a down night for Los Ingobernables de Japón, as in addition to EVIL losing, Tetsuya Naito and SANADA fell to The Young Bucks, while BUSHI was pinned by IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion KUSHIDA in a Four Corner Survival match that included Flip Gordon and Jonathan Gresham. Gordon would make another appearance later in the show, attacking Bully Ray after he ruined Juice Robinson's match against Silas Young. Gordon would ultimately come out on the losing end of his attack on Bully, but was spared from another vicious beating with a kendo stick [ROH TV: Ep. #372 - taped 10/14/18] when ROH COO Joe Koff threatened to fire Bully from Ring of Honor if he ever hits another person with a kendo stick. After The Kingdom's scheduled match against The Boys devolved into a public beating, a fired up Dalton Castle scored a victory over ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion TK O'Ryan. And Kelly Klein picked up another win on her road to the WOH World Championship showdown at "Final Battle 2018" [12/14/18], defeating Madison Rayne. - 2021: On Week by Week, it was The OGK vs. ROH World Tag Team Champions La Facción Ingobernable, as Matt Taven took on ROH World Television Champion Dragon Lee in a non-title singles match, while Michael Bennett faced Kenny King |

The show was headlined by three of ROH's elite, former ROH World Champion Jay Lethal, reigning ROH World Television Champion Kenny King and Dalton Castle, teaming up to take on The Elite, Kenny Omega and ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks. Rocky Romero received his first shot at the ROH World Championship in twelve years ["Steel Cage Warfare" - 12/3/05], challenging Cody in a match with some very relaxed rules. To date, the match was also the last time Romero challenged for the title. Vinny Marseglia and TK O'Ryan of The Kingdom challenged the Motor City Machine Guns for the ROH World Tag Team Championship, while their leader Matt Taven faced Flip Gordon in a singles match. Best Friends picked up some momentum heading into their Tag title showdown at "Final Battle 2017" [12/15/17], winning a Three-Way Tag Team match over The Addiction and Bullet Club's Marty Scurll and ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion Adam Page. Punishment Martinez and Shane Taylor squared off in a battle of the big men. Former Vaudevillain Simon Grimm made his ROH debut, competing in a Three-Way match against Jonathan Gresham and Josh Woods. Silas Young and Beer City Bruiser took on Coast 2 Coast. Cheeseburger teamed with Hanson to face The Dawgs after they ruined his scheduled singles match. And Rain made her first appearance in ten years ["Driven" - 6/23/07], besting Brandi Rhodes in a Women of Honor match before attacking Sumie Sakai. - 2018: ROH and New Japan closed out the "Global Wars 2018 Tour" in Toronto, ON. Kenny King received his first shot at the ROH World Championship in over eight years ["Pick Your Poison" - 4/23/10], challenging Jay Lethal in the match event. The Super Smash Bros. returned to Ring of Honor for what would be their final appearance, challenging for the ROH World Tag Team Championship for the first and only time against SoCal Uncensored's Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky. Meanwhile, SoCal Uncensored member Christopher Daniels faced off with "Real ROH World Champion" Matt Taven in match that, from start to finish, coincidentally ended up being very similar to Taven's match at "Elite" one year prior. Los Ingobernables de Japón went 50/50 for the night, with Tetsuya Naito and BUSHI winning over ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions The Kingdom, while EVIL and SANADA lost to The Briscoes. Former ROH World Television Champion KUSHIDA made his final Ring of Honor appearance, teaming with the inventor of the cosmic astral code "Constellation" Chris Sabin in a losing effort against The Young Bucks. After IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Cody had to withdraw from their scheduled title match due to injury, Beretta went all out with Juice Robinson in a hard fought match.  Today in Ring of Honor History: November 12- 2010: Ring of Honor held "Survival of the Fittest 2010" in Dearborn, MI. After advancing over his former Sweet n' Sour, Inc. stablemate ROH World Tag Team Champion Chris Hero in the opening round, ROH World Television Champion Eddie Edwards outlasted Adam Cole, ROH World Tag Team Champion Claudio Castagnoli, Kenny King, Kevin Steen and Rhett Titus to win the tournament. The 2010 edition would be one of the weirdest Survival of the Fittest tournaments in history, as Edwards suffered a shoulder injury during his first round match, causing him to be largely inactive during the finals before temporarily withdrawing from match and going to the back, only to return at the very end to win. Consequently, it was also the shortest Survival of the Fittest finals ever, with Steen being the first one eliminated less than ten seconds into the match (in large part due to him being attacked by El Generico just before the start), and King being the last one eliminated at a little over fifteen minutes. Other participants in the tournament: Colt Cabana, El Generico, Grizzly Redwood, Kyle O'Reilly and Steve Corino. In non-tournament action, Michael Elgin began competing in ROH fulltime as the newest member of The House of Truth, teaming with ROH World Champion Roderick Strong and Zack Gowen in a Six-Man Tag Team match against Christopher Daniels and The Briscoes. And Andy Ridge wrestled the third match of his Trial Series, squaring off with Homicide. - 2017: ROH held a television taping in Lakeland, FL. The Young Bucks swapped out Adam Page for Kenny King, teaming with him to defend the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship against Rocky Romero and Best Friends. Adam Page, meanwhile, took on the Bullet Club's favorite victim, Flip Gordon. Gordon pulled double duty on the taping, later teaming with former WWE wrestler Simon Grimm (Simon Gotch) against The Dawgs. Rounding out Bullet Club's night, Marty Scurll faced Beer City Bruiser, while ROH World Champion Cody captained ROH World Tag Team Champion Chris Sabin, Josh Woods, Punishment Martinez and Scorpio Sky in a "Christmas Surprise" 10-Man Tag Team match against Dalton Castle's team of Hanson, Jonathan Gresham, Silas Young, and Cody's Bullet Club buddy Marty Scurll. And in Women of Honor action, Sumie Sakai took on Rain in a follow up to their angle the night before, and Mandy Leon faced off with Stella Grey. - 2021: ROH aired their latest episode of television from Philadelphia, PA. Vincent wrestled his first match on television in nearly a year [Ep. #481 - aired 12/4/20], leading The Righteous to victory in a Six-Man Tag Team match against Jonathan Gresham, Rhett Titus and Tracy Williams of The Foundation. Caprice Coleman's feud with The Bouncers found him stepping away from the commentary booth to face Ken Dixon.  Today in Ring of Honor History: November 13- 2005: Eddie Guerrero, who appeared on Ring of Honor's first and third shows ["The Era of Honor Begins" - 2/23/02; "Night of Appreciation" - 4/27/02], passed away at the age of 38. - 2009: Ring of Honor held "Aries vs. Richards" in Novi, MI. As the name suggests, the main event saw Austin Aries defend the ROH World Championship against ROH World Tag Team Champion Davey Richards. As his previous time challenging for the belt was in a Four Corner Survival [ROH on HDNet: Ep. #37 - taped 5/11/09], the match marked Richards' first one-on-one shot at the title. A lot of focus on the show was dedicated to the new Pick 6 Contenders Series, with three matches taking place. Kenny Omega retained the #3 ranking against Katsuhiko Nakajima, who returned for what would be his final weekend in ROH, while Tyler Black retained the #2 spot against the #6 ranked Claudio Castagnoli. Castagnoli would end up kicking himself for failing to win later on, as Chris Hero defeated Roderick Strong to claim the #1 spot, causing everyone to shift down one spot and knocking Castagnoli out of the rankings. The remainder of the show consisted of tag team matches. Despite his knee injury getting increasingly worse, Kevin Steen was still able to pull out a victory with El Generico over The Young Bucks in a rematch from "Contention" [6/12/09]. Colt Cabana and Delirious team up again Rhett Titus and Kenny King, The Briscoes squared off with The House of Truth in a rematch from "Clash of the Contenders" [10/9/09], and The Embassy's Erick Stevens and Joey Ryan faced The Super Smash Bros.- 2010: ROH held "Fate of an Angel II" in Mississauga, ON. The show was named after Christopher Daniels, who challenged Roderick Strong for the ROH World Championship in the main event, marking his first time wrestling for the title in Ring of Honor in five years ["A Night of Tribute" - 11/19/05] (the last time Daniels wrestled for the title overall was against Bryan Danielson at an independent show in Texas on June 11, 2006). Thanks to an unintentional assist from El Generico, the Kings of Wrestling made another successful defense of the ROH World Tag Team Championship, retaining against Kevin Steen and Steve Corino. Besides a general hatred for Steen, Generico's involvement in the title match was payback for Steen's involvement in Generico and Colt Cabana's number one contender match against The All-Night Express. Steen and Generico's repeated interferences would lead ROH owner Cary Silkin to issue a restraining order against the two, forbidding them to be within 50 feet of each other until their match at "Final Battle 2010" [12/18/10], which Silkin decreed would now be a Fight Without Honor. Founding fathers Homicide and Jay Briscoe squared off in their third and final singles match against each other in Ring of Honor, with Homicide once again walking away the victor. Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly picked up another win over the Bravado Brothers, besting them in a rematch from ROH on HDNet [Ep. #81 - taped 10/1/10]. Zack Gowen proved not to be House of Truth material, as for the second night in a row he cost the group a win, this time teaming with Michael Elgin in a losing effort against Bobby Dempsey (in his final non-HDNet match) and Grizzly Redwood. Mark Briscoe was the latest challenge for Andy Ridge, who was now 0-3 in his Trial Series. And Sara Del Rey defeated Jamilia Craft (a.k.a. Jenny Rose) in a rematch from HDNet earlier in the year [Ep. #66 - taped 5/22/10]. - 2015: ROH held "Survival of the Fittest 2015: Night One" in Milwaukee, WI. The 2015 tournament combined the 2011 format of having multi-man opening round matches [11/18/11] with the 2014 formula of spreading Survival of the Fittest out over two nights [11/7-11/8/14], with the opening round matches taking place the first night, and the finals taking place the next night. ROH World Television Champion and 2005 Survival of the Fittest winner Roderick Strong advanced after defeating Cedric Alexander in their final singles match together in ROH. 2011 winner Michael Elgin advanced after winning a Three-Way match over his longtime rival Adam Cole (the 2014 winner) and Moose, while hometown heel Silas Young advanced after winning a Three-Way over Adam Page and his current rival Dalton Castle. Christopher Daniels advanced after winning a Four Corner Survival match over Hanson, Kenny King and Mark Briscoe, while Jay Briscoe did likewise after winning over Frankie Kazarian, Rhett Titus and Rowe. For the last opening round match, ACH and Matt Sydal, tied at two wins each, met in the final match of their Best of Five Series, with ACH winning the series and advancing to the finals of Survival of the Fittest. In non-tournament action, reDRagon challenged The Kingdom for the ROH World Tag Team Championship, while Bullet Club's AJ Styles and The Young Bucks teamed up in a Six-Man Tag Team match against ROH World Champion Jay Lethal and The House of Truth. And with Steve Corino still suspended, Mr. Wrestling 3 made his debut as Ring of Honor's new commentor. - 2020: ROH aired their latest episode of television from Baltimore, MD. For the first time since returning from the COVID-19 hiatus, Ring of Honor moved away from Pure Rules matches. The Briscoes took on the Soldiers of Savagery, while Shane Taylor and Kenny King squared off in the main event. |
