What angles or storylines have you heard pitched in the office, but never came into fruition that would more than likely end up being crap? Here are some angles that come to mind...
Bob Backlund - A punk rock/cross dresser:I don't know where I came across this rumor, but I swear I read somewhere that after he lost the WWF championship, the company was going to update his character to get with the times by having him wear make-up, get his ear pierced, and have him dress similar to Adrian Street. Fortunately we were spared that and Mr. Backlund quietly left the company in the summer of 1984, only to return 8 years later.
Dan Severn - A Ministry Disciple: I'm sure we can all agree that the UFC veteran is one of the (legit) toughest guys to step foot in a pro wrestling ring. So tough, it's been said that many in the locker room were afraid to fight him(or afraid of him in general) for fear that he may shoot on them in the ring. They even addressed him as "Mr. Severn" to get on his good side.
Even though he can bend 99% of the roster into pretzels, charisma wasn't his strong suit. While you can get away with doing your talking in the ring in 1970/80s NWA, it wouldn't fly with late 90s WWF fans who preferred/expected their wrestlers to be something out of a comic book come to life. Well according to rumors, management wanted to do just that by not only making him a Ministry Henchman, they wanted him to have the number "666" tattooed on his forehead.
This act of sacrilege made The Beast ask for his release, which he was granted shortly thereafter.
Heidenreich - Frozen Nazi: Yes, there was talk that the original idea for Heidenreich to be a Nazi who was frozen for 60 years to be thawed out to compete in a WWE ring. He would be managed by Paul Heyman(who ironically enough was Jewish and parents were Holocaust Survivors). Sadly, I would've rather seen that then what we did get. Especially with his humbling of Michael Cole and tarnishing the Road Warriors name.
Any you can come up with?

Pitched by the same person who suggested Unfrozen Nazi Heidenreich supposedly. You just know they would have somehow tried to make a faction with them and write Nunzio into there too.

Shiek Tugboat.
Either it’s a rib or they totally thought Shiek Tugboat and Hulk Hogan would sell 100,000 tickets.

Shame there's the historical connotations to it and thus I'd never justify actually doing it, because "The Axis" does sound like it could be a good wrestling stable name.

He could've be billed as Mussolini's great-grandson as they form an Axis Powers stable. Question is, who would they feud with?

I feel like it is a totally made up story by Bruce and it wasn't even until the podcasts that it even came to light, after 25-30 years. Tugboat was being phased out as Hogan's buddy early on and the same time Slaughter was coming back and I'm sure there were at least thoughts of him being a main eventer.

I don’t know, that’s part of what me thinks it’s a rib. It feels like it can’t possibly be true.

Has anybody ever confirmed that in shoot interviews if the idea was pitched, or did somebody from the IWC make that up and then it took a life of it's own? I just think it sounds preposterous, even by wrestlecrap standards, but what do I know, we had David Arquette as WCW champion to promote a B movie, Katie Vick, and Jinder Mahal as WWE champion to drum up ticket sales in India, so I guess something like that is technically possible.

Plus, they were all on Smackdown, as was Kurt Angle, so timing wise that would've been possible.

Mark Jindrak who was doing his “Reflection of Perfection” Narcissist gimmick gets an All American change when he teams with Kurt Angle. And after he bodyslams a sumo associated with Hirohito.

The Undertaker originally being set to come out of the egg at Survivor Series, and be called The Eggman. From my understanding that was never actually pitched, and the idea was always the Gooker. People like Undertaker himself thought that he was going to debut by coming out of the egg though because the egg debuted like right after he signed his contract. Everyone surrounding it though said that was never actually the case though.
