The Headshrinkers lost the tag team titles to Diesel and HBK at a house show a couple days before SummerSlam 1994. He appeared on Razor Ramon’s Survivor Series team and that’s the last I ever seen from him in a mainstream company. I’m not a mark for the guy or nothing, but once in a while that question pops in my head.

Wasn't he gone before Survivor Series? I think it was Sionne/Barbarian on Razor's team.

He left to recover from injuries, but he did come back briefly in '95 as a gang member from Fatu's past when Fatu was in the midst of his Make a Difference run.

They just showed him and Matt Anoa'i (a.k.a. Rosey) watching Fatu's matches in the crowd.

I met him at a show in 2014. It was in an area I think that crossed between PA and WV. It was awesome to see him. He looked so happy and his son and he were in a six man tag. I met him another time in 2017 and got a picture with almost the whole family (Afa, Sika, Fatu, Samu and many younger relatives)
He's always been favorite, there's just something about him I always liked-maybe following in his father's footsteps doing the school or maybe because the fame and money wasn't what drove him and he stepped away for so long. I'm sure the show he did, he probably didn't sell too many signed photos. I think he only did autographs pre show where most people were probably friends or family of wrestlers and I think he went to the back to get dressed in ring gear. But I'm sure he did it for the love of his son.

In all seriousness? Pittsburgh. He was a mainstay in local fed PWX in the late 90s, both in the ring and on the book. Total legend.
According to Shane Douglas, he would finalize the upcoming night's booking while lying on his back in the middle of the ring. He was willing to listen to anybody and everybody, provided they meet him in the ring... Literally.

I hear two stories, one being that he was recovering from injuries (kayfabe reason being he ate some bad fish) and someone else (I forget who, it may have even been Barbarian himself - possibly in the interview he did with Hannibal) that Samu was causing problems backstage and they had enough. I do know Barbarian was already back with the WWF in June working House Shows as Barbarian, so they may have been ready to bring him back to TV as Barb and then decided to get rid of Samu and put him in that spot

He also did an autograph signing with Fatu just a few weeks ago.

Ran the PA version of the Samoans training center once Afa moved south. Had health issues and did his benefit event. Looks and sounds great lately. I am hoping he is doing as well as he looks and sounds! Side note: he is one of those guys that make you appreciate just how big everyone on TV in the 80s and 90s were. He's way taller than you might expect and just a physically massive and impressive person. Super nice guy, a real sweetheart to boot.

I guess Afa had been in the business long enough to not take that personally.

I knew I had heard it somewhere before. I guess he was becoming a problem! I really wish the Samoan Gangster stable would have come off in 1996 though, it looked cool and interesting after MADFatu was such an awful dud.

He's had an interesting career, especially when you factor in that he had already had a previous run in WWF as the third member of the Wild Samoans back in 1983/84, Freebirding the tag titles, I believe. That run gets overlooked a lot.
