I do like the idea of this being a national list, so we can just remake them here in Britain, Back to the Future but with accents! as long as it's not london based accents. *looks at map*

Does anyone think in, say, 10+ years someone will try to remake the Harry Potter series?
The ONLY reason I could maybe get behind a BTTF remake/re-imagining is with the new special effects since the original was made. I still don't think I could buy new people playing those characters (which also presents a problem someone wanting to remake the Harry Potter franchise would have).

Don't ever remake Back to the Future, the first two were perfect. Doesn't Robert Zemeckis have it in his will that it can never be remade?

I like Back to the Future but it's in no way a sacred cow for me.

Does anyone think in, say, 10+ years someone will try to remake the Harry Potter series? Probably but I predict it will be a tv series instead of a film franchise. Really Harry Potter: The Animated Series is a thing I would be super into (this idea of mine exists in a world where JKR isn’t terrible).

Not that this is the point of the thread at all, but if they wanted to make a new Harry Potter-related property, it should really be a Marauder's prequel. There's *so* much to mine from there.

Honestly, remakes don't bother me as much as the recent "direct sequel to the original even though there already is a sequel but this is the REAL one" trend. At least with a remake you know it's its own thing and you don't need to open a chart to explain what order to watch it in. Ah, yes, the Terminator approach. Not often a movie has three different Part 3s, four if you count the live action television show.

I'll second this, and tie it into my intense dislike of sequels having the same name as the original, like how the new Scream movie is just "Scream" instead of "Scream 5." At least give it some kind of subtitle, y'know?
Like I used to be okay with Halloween having a remake, because then I could narrow it down to just "the first one" and "the remake." But now it's "the first one," "the Rob Zombie one," and "the new one" and I hate it. And combining that with the Halloween franchise having three different timelines (four if you wanna count the third movie), and I feel like I need to open up some kind of Excel spreadsheet to keep track of the whole thing.

I see Harry Potter being a good target for a remake. Not to "erase" the originals, but just as a different adaption of the books. Harry Potter could easily be 6 seasons with each seasons with like 6-10 episodes and each season is 1 year at Hogwarts. And for god's sake figure out a way to get some god damned chemistry between Harry and Ginny this time. In the movies Harry has more chemistry with random strangers, ghosts and inanimate objects than he does with Ginny.

Only one way to solve this... HALLOWEEN: NO WAY (HE CAME) HOME.
