Exactly this. Bruce knows how to run a show that Vince likes, and it would appear that the head of writing knows how to write one that Vince likes. They are directing a show written for, with edits by, an audience of one - Vince McMahon. Vince isn't in the wrestling business, so HHHunter's show, which firmly was a wrestling show, was not going to be to his taste. In some ways it almost feels like it was a prolonged audition - can HHHunter make a show Vince likes so Vince can feel comfortable leaving him to run the big shows - the answer to which was no. Vince feels WWE is above wrestling, it's a form of entertainment all on it's own and Bruce and Lubrano appear to get that. It's why the room is stacked with TV writers and not old wrestlers. Vince wants a soap with some fighting, he doesn't want a wrestling show. HHHunter did. You are leaving out one major thing. The show isn't entertaining. Far from it. It's boring and the crowd are sitting on their hands every week. That's patently incorrect on all levels. I watch NXT 2.0 every chance I get and not only is it a hell of a lot more entertaining than RAW has been in years, the crowds are usually into damn near everything that shows up.

It appears to be more lively because the arena is smaller. Fact is, Raw hasn't been lively since the mid 2000s. Compare the crowd reactions to the Attitude Era/early Ruthless Aggression era. Miles apart.

I will say while I disagree with Negan and find the crowd to be pretty lively for the NXT 2.0 shows I've watched, arent WWE also vetting the crowds who go there to make sure they have fans who don't hijack the shows? Thought I saw they had specific Facebook Groups and such to sign on to get into the tapings, so they seem pretty focused on making sure that a lot of the crowd aren't plants per say, but very into what's being shown to them no matter what. That being said the shows being shit or being great are all subjective, I think the show is fine but is straying further and further away from something that should be on national television and should probably revert to its former incarnation on Peacock eventually.

Oh, I wasnt commenting on the quality or perception and opinions there of, just saying they do what Vince wants, and it's his toy box, so that's all that matters.

The relationship between NXT and main roster has been debated since the changes started. I've said many times that the best thing for the Black and Gold Brand would have be the FS1 deal. Smaller audience but Fox was gonna make NXT a staple of the network and promote it on college football, basketball, and MLB games. They were also gonna get the same recap show we got (forget what it's called) as a way to build up what happened and promote Smackdown.
But that didn't happen and we are where we are.
On the other hand, agents and producers on Raw and Smackdown have reportedly complained for a long time about wrestlers who got called up from NXT in that they had to readjust. Heck guys like The Forgotten Sons, Chris Hero, and Adam Cole talked about guys having g that issue because NXT became a super indy but that's not what the main roster was so there was a huge adjustment for many... and to go with that Dean Malenko said in a shoot that many had issues with NXT wrestlers because they were under the impression NXT was supposed to be the stop gap for indy wrestlers to learn the WWE style but what it became was indy wrestlers would learn the NXT style then would have to let the WWE style when called up and it caused a lot of stress for them.
Is that right or wrong? Honestly it's subjective and as many on here have said this all could have been avoided if they're was a clear synergy for NXT the entire life of it (I feel like the change happened around 2015?) And they didn't just decide to sign everybody just cause they could.

My interest has already taken a hit with Breakker winning … this isn’t ideal. My Tuesdays might open up. Nvm, I’ll be good. I’m just salty about Breakker. Lol
