Really I think the first time they really f***ed up with Ali was when he basically did every bit of the work in making people care about the Cruiserweight title tournament and his feud with Cedric, on his own time, and then just he loses anyway because Cedric was the plan.

Yeah, like, the "Heart vs. Soul" stuff was entirely done by Ali and Alexander on social media and not only did Ali lose, the match was overshadowed by John Cena gawping at ringside for an Undertaker match that wasn't remotely worth it.

John Cena doing reaction faces like they were cut-ins for the hospital scene in Samurai Cop was great comedy but a massive disservice to the highest profile match those guys ever got, and it completely undercut their chance.

And the worst thing is, we’d find out later that the Cena match going the way it did was because ‘Taker was hesitant to take the match in January so it was basically them hampering other stuff for a squash match that was originally going to be a full one until a last minute switch. Like…gah!

Seeing what they just did to WALTER and Sarray in NXT, yeah Ali wanting out is even more believable now.

“Yeah, sorry, we can’t grant your release now. It’ll look bad if we do it before our quarterly cleansing and there just happens to be one next month!”

Wonder if they’ll talk him into coming back with the right storyline.

Just sad, damn. I really don't understand how a company that does mass releases can turn around and hold someone hostage that doesn't wanna be there. It's the height of pettiness. But yea he should just start streaming on twitch etc, that'll take care of that.

Kind of wonder why they let Toni Storm leave when she asked for her release, yet they won’t let Ali go when he asks for a release. If the guy is unhappy, just let go if he doesn’t want to be there. And even if he has years, all they are gonna do is waste him even more. Because they aren’t gonna actually push him, so there really is no point.

The only answer I have is he declined Vince's idea so Vince wants to get over on him.. Apparently Ali has years left on his desk so they could do to him what they did to Brodie.

He should just start taking bookings.
What are they going to do, fire him?

I remember when they did this to Brodie Lee, it made me so angry then. I think this one makes me very angrier than usual too. We know he wants out because of something that offended him as a human being, and not just his place on the card. Decision after decision in court has found that a key tenant of an employee is someone not allowed to perform for a competitive business, while independent contractors is the freedom to provide services for other businesses, competitive or non-competitive. These wrestlers are not independent contractors, so at least treat them like employees and give them benefits. They should be allowed to leave with 90 days notice, just as they can be fired with 90 days notice.
An embarrassment as usual and just reminds me about all the people cut when they didnt want to be, and all the people held when they wanted to leave. I hope he has a great career when he is finally free to ply his trade as a real independent contractor.

With the "independent contactor" contract, I can't imagine there's much preventing Ali from pulling a CM Punk and just not coming back. What could they possibly do?

SRS basically says they're holding onto Ali because of his perceived value. So they know he's worth more to the competition yet they still won't use him properly. Go figure.

I mean, that was their MO with a lot of people for years. And then those same people got released in the first round of cuts so…
