Fightful is reporting that Mustafa Ali could be returning to television, potentially as soon as RAW tomorrow night.

A surprising return to WWE TV has been discussed internally.

Fightful Select has learned that as of this weekend a possible return to WWE television for Mustafa Ali was discussed. There was a pitch made for him to actually appear on WWE Raw Monday, though we can never be sure that something like that will actually happen until he appears on the air, due to the constant changes of the program.

Ali has not appeared on WWE programming since October, and had been booked to lose 11 consecutive matches across Raw, Smackdown and PPV. He was drafted to the Smackdown brand in the fall, but had an argument with Vince McMahon over his creative direction that led to him being off television, and not backstage for months. Ali voiced his frustration and publicly asked for his release in January after not being on TV for two months. It was reiterated to us at that point that despite the fact that he had a child, he asked for only one week off of television at that point and was willing to work.

UPDATE: In an update, we can confirm that Ali is tentatively scheduled for the April 25 Raw.

The scuttlebutt I’d heard around the place was Edge had been pitching for Ali to be a part of his new group, but who knows.

Cool if true. Give this man work, if nothing else.

In a perfect world, there is a match with Edge/Priest/Ali v. House of Black.

Not a fan of the idea of sticking him with Edge if only because while Ali is a good heel he's way better as a face, plus thus far this stable is just pretty terrible.

Don't have a good feeling about this, mainly because I really hate this Edge stable and storyline right now... but it'd give him SOMETHING to do, which is something I'd welcome if they won't release him...

Guys like Edge and Bryan being part of a company is great because they, with their pull, actively push for talent to be on tv and to work with them. If Edge can get Ali as part of his stable and Ali does well then shit, that's a positive.

Nah he's actually been training hard and been hinting at wanting to return.

This stable could give him the matches he wants which is dope.

You know in Vince's weird, twisted logic he likely respects Ali more now for sticking to his guns and saying no and sticking to no regarding whatever storyline they tried to make him do.

Doesnt mean he wont get jobbed out, but you can see Vince deciding he likes that - until he doesnt.

That’s possible. Didn’t something similar happen with Brodie? Requested his release publicly, it wasn’t granted, eventually he was called back to TV and joined Bryan’s stable for a bit and then was released later on.
