Since it’s my new obsession, screw it, I might as well make a thread about it even if it’s just me in here.
Anyone else started playing it? I’m really enjoying it so far and, right now anyway, things are generous enough where I can finish one deck and work on building others.
Right now, I have a Tri-Brigade Melffy deck that is almost like my real life one but with more Lightning Storms somehow and working on a Madolche deck when I get more UR points.
Right now, my big gripe is that I wish this was a thing earlier but hey, it’s here now.

Yep started playing yesterday...kind of amassing a ghostrick deck at the moment.
Not gonna be my main deck but it will suffice for now.
Really staying away from ranked at the moment after I saw a duel and someone had out like 3 Dark Dragoons and had like 15 negates in like their first turn....yea gonna totally nope on that one for now lol.

I have somehow not encountered that, which is somewhat crazy. I have surprising seen a Demise deck in Gold rank which, considering it’s one of the solo mode decks…made respect.

Downloaded it on PS5 so I could get the 50 free packs. I haven't played Yugioh seriously (like, seriously seriously) since the mid-00s. I did mess around with Duel Links for a few weeks or so but either way, I had to check this out since it's poppin.
Now I'm looking up some of the best cards to pull to see if any of the ones I got are any good. I only know maybe 10% of these lol.

I have hard time believing there is a banlist in this game lol even though their supposedly is one because the absoloute broken as f*** cards are just littered evrywhere in ranked and not even limited either lol.
You really have to settle in a type and just go all in with it right now.
but I also find it fun because it is just a wild west feeling of just find everywhere which way to break the game with the most insane should make no sense builds that OTK.

So, I think the actually genuinely good advice is to go through the story mode and look up the decks because even though a lot of them aren't meta anymore (Brilliant Fusion being banned killed Gem-Knights for example), it's a good way to get a feel of how the game is now. And even watching some of the live duels and slowing them down seems like a right direction because, as someone I watch pointed out, you can at least feel how it effects the game compared to playing it yourself. Having said that, as someone who mostly played YGO in London, I miss the gathering of kids at a finals of a locals acting like they heard the greatest diss when a combo popped off. Too many white guys here in Dublin to make that effective haha. Which deck did you pick to start with, by the way?

I'm just getting a feel of things so far and based on what I've seen this game has changed so much lol. When I played Duel Links I didn't really get into the thick of how the game's evolved but with this you can easily see some drastic changes which aren't bad, it's just different from what I'm used to. This game's super popular too from what I'm seeing. I didn't expect it to pop off at this level but I was wrong. I'm seeing tons play it. I don't even have a style yet lol, I just did the practice tutorial, did my 50+special summons and then I came here. I started with Power of the Dragon but I heard the Sychron deck was the best one. Still I'm glad I chose it since I'm more familiar with those types of units. Another plus for this game are the summon animations. I don't know what any of them mean besides the rainbow (UR) and yellow (SR) but after playing so many gachas, they've got that part down. It really makes you wanna summon so I'll probably summon more after I finish story. I'm definitely not gonna spend any money on this though. It's great but I've played way too many gachas lol.

Just need my card so I can start building my deck. Oh and Maxx C being unlimited let alone not banned is insanely funny.

When I played Duel Links I didn't really get into the thick of how the game's evolved but with this you can easily see some drastic changes which aren't bad, it's just different from what I'm used to. It's more like various mini-plots and they're all basically one or two battles and you'll either get more cards or an actual deck to build from. It's a good excuse to get more cards and if you want to get more experience with them, the gates are there for harder stuff. To put a long, long story short, this has been a long time coming. If you wanted to play YGO online, there was either Duel Links or unofficial places like EDOPro, Dueling Book, YGO Omega (which I personally used since it helped me understand combos more, Dueling Book is very assumption based). Magic's had a tonne of these for years so YGO needing one wasn't a long time coming as much as "they should have done it years ago". Especially with how the game has gone, they really needed to make this stuff accessible. And it's clear from the streamers and Yugitubers (real term haha) I watch that people are saying to them that this might be the thing that does it. Also, just like pro wrestling, YGO loves nostalgia. If you play your points right, you can get a whole Blue Eyes core because they've made a lot of Blue Eyes cards. And funnily enough, the system they use for rarity is the same as in Duel Links so good way of getting that crowd interested, too.

Stuff like this release essentially explains why (contrary to contemporary belief), Konami does make a lot of money from their video game division. They don't really do AAA releases that much anymore, but between Yu-Gi-Oh and Japan oriented stuff like Momotaro Dentetsu, they likely feel they don't need to.

I am interested to see if they ever impliment Rush duels as a seperate game mode or what not could be interesting because it streamlined what became very complicated and made it faster and was recieved pretty well....well almost the ultra hardcore level players found it got overly simplified.

Which sort of makes it strange that it has taken this long to do a game like this, to try and get people into the card game itself. Like, yeah, they've done anime games and sort of tried to bridge the gap but it's still weird even now that it took them a good decade to get on this. Especially one this good, I can't possibly think about playing something like Link Evolution again. It doesn't make sense.

Might just be a case of company restructuring and getting all their ducks in a row as far as long term plans with Master Duel. As I said, Konami may not go big in production value anymore, but I definitely suspect with a launch like this the planning must have been extensive.

Oh, absolutely, it was why I wasn't personally annoyed about the lack of information. If this works, it's a potential gateway for new players, Duel Links players, returning players, an entry point for the World Championships, it had to go almost flawlessly or at least enough to go right where they can sort the wrongs later. They couldn't have a second go at something like this right away, you know.

So I’m somehow in the Platinum tier for ranked.
I don’t think I’ve reached gold in anything, never mind Platinum.

I've been playing on and off since it came out on the Switch, mostly with a Vampire deck I just pieced together from a decklist off the net. It's been fairly good so far, although that's mostly been against A.Is in Solo Mode. (The fact that the A.I has decided to BM me by taking 5+ minutes to decide on an action on three separate occasions when losing has not been lost on me.) My brief foray into Ranked put me at 2-1, with the single loss thus far being an absolute disaster (my opponent summoned five things and banished them, then did 3000 damage to me next turn with an effect... and then did it again a turn later for 8000.)

They’ll be a 6 hour block set for maintenance late Wednesday/early Thursday which people are of course speculating on new features and banlist…but it’ll probably be just technical features and tweaks.

I just started Master Duel. I've never been great at making my own decks but I'm having fun so far. I do have one question through, I can make a Ojama deck right?

Ojama King and Ojamatch are UR but the rest are SR and below so it should be really simple to make. Oh, and get all three of the bundle packs. You’ll get three of the best cards in the game that you keep forever and 30 Master Packs to either add to your deck or milk for Ojama points.
