Stargate SG1 ploughed through the Egyptian pantheon then non Egyptian gods and ended up with grey aliens, humans with spaceships, ancient entities, space vampires and so on.

Was that the show that went from "we visit a version of Earth each week across all dimensions and times. Allowing fairly deep thought provoking 'what if' plots" to "we gotta stop those interdimensional cavemen nazis"

Angel went from supernatural noir detective show to running an evil law firm that has a luchadore as a mail courier. And that ended up being the best season of the show by far. Amazing. YOU'RE A WEE LITTLE PUPPET MAN!

I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?

The first season of That 70’s Show really leaned heavily into its setting, with a whole bunch of references to the times (an episode where they meet President Gerald Ford, references to gas shortages and Japanese autos first becoming common in the US, an episode about the original premier of Star Wars, etc.). Further into they series, they lightened up on that and let the show stand as a family/teenage sitcom in its own right.

At least the first few seasons before recasting started happening

Izombie. Starts off as a cute fun show about a sexy chick that becomes a zombie who then eats the brains of victims to help solve crimes. Turned into a weird stupid show about a city of zombies that the entire world knew about and a bunch of government conspiracies and stuff. Wait, hold on, is this a real show? I watch absolutely ZERO TV, so unless it's from like, 2001 or prior, or something my girlfriend has streamed before, I've likely never heard of it. This, however....this I might wanna see.

It was at least around when the Flash started. As I remember only the "coming up next" announcement from Rose McIver (who I now thoroughly enjoy on Ghosts) just before the preview for next week's Flash played.

I don't know if you watch Funhaus on YouTube, but "IZOMBIE" costar Rahul Kohli would visit and always be funny. They would always do a bit where they would make fun of him for people watching other CW shows and not his. NSFW, mostly some language

I loved iZombie. This is the clip that hooked me into trying the show and I wound up regretting nothing. Technically, the clip is a spoiler. It didn't ruin my enjoyment of the show or anything, though, for whatever that's worth. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}

iZombie is (loosely) based on a graphic novel, too.
Also, Rahul Kohli dunking on Cryptobros lately makes me a fan of his.
