That saudi line makes me feel like this is ending 1 way and that is the Saudis are gonna buy this company. Think I saw someone jokingly crunch the numbers...Saudis pay 50mil a show...so if they just moved WWE to saudi full time and did a show everyday that is 18 billion. You ready for WrestleMania in Jeddah? That is a hell of a threat.

Presumably it's them finally doing Reigns v Goldberg for Saudi. It is what it is. I think that's actually the last match on his current deal, isn't it?

Combing through more comments.. Nick Khan on the Saudi events..."Why limit it to just 2?" He also thinks they'll have more bidders for their tv shows in the next go around leading to a significant increase in tv revenue. That saudi line makes me feel like this is ending 1 way and that is the Saudis are gonna buy this company. Think I saw someone jokingly crunch the numbers...Saudis pay 50mil a show...so if they just moved WWE to saudi full time and did a show everyday that is 18 billion. Some people on Reddit we're saying it's sounding like maybe a Newcastle situation.

Remember 6-7 years ago when there was all that hubbub about TNA’s financial troubles, the Harris twins, and people joking about how surreal it was that a wrestling promotion might get sold to Nazis? I have no idea what I’d think if WWE did a “hold my beer” on that.

I did originally think there was some kind of prospect of the Saudis buying WWE (and one of the likely reasons they don’t want shareholders seeing the Saudi deal itself, I think, is because it includes some kind of clause of that nature) but I think someone said here that they’d need to clarify their intention to do so publicly in some capacity? Not sure who said it but I know it was talked about.
I can’t really see it going well, though. Especially since, outside of Newcastle, a lot of Saudi ownership attempts haven’t gone through as hoped (SNK is owned 40% by the Saudis but a full on buyout failed last year for example).

If you are still watching WWE in the hopes that the product improves, time to give up. They have zero reason to even ponder if they have to change an iota of how they do things if these are the numbers they are recording.

The takeaway from all this is that the fans don't matter to WWE. I think if you added a 'hardcore' before the word fans in there, you may be about right. Large numbers of people have hated WWE's product for decades at this point. But they continue to have millions more willing to watch and buy tickets to their shows. As ever, the comparison isn't to what that number of fans in North America was like in 2001, it's what it is compared to the other sport and live TV properties around the world. And on that the WWE continues to score highly.

Do you believe that whatever passes as a casuaL fan today would invest 5-6 hours a week into WWE programming? There's a big difference between treating yourself/family to a live show and actually being a regular part of the eyeballs that they rely on drawing money from the networks.

It's reached the point with the company that they could air a jar of mayo in the middle of the ring for six hours a week and pull down the same amount of revenue. They could save even more money by pulling all live events apart from the supercards, probably without any negative impact on their bottom line. When I say the fans don't matter, I mean it. We're becoming not just irrelevant, but an annoyance to the company.

There's a big difference between treating yourself/family to a live show and actually being a regular part of the eyeballs that they rely on drawing money from the networks. It's weird to figure out where WWE really is right now. For a long time they wanted casuals/"minnows", then they shifted like so many other current businesses have to "whale" consumers, targeting the people who're willing to spend >$1,000 for a Wrestlemania ticket or whatever. But now that Fox, NBC, and the Saudis are the only "whales" that matter, WWE technically doesn't have to appeal to anybody. And yet there's still the question of their long term prospects with TV ratings. They remain near the top of the heap on current cable ratings, yet at the same time have a fanbase that's only continuing to age, is seemingly losing a number of people in the prime demo (though those numbers still remain high enough to be valuable), and doesn't seem to be replenishing its ranks with a lot of kids. By sheer math, at some point that'll spell trouble, because we're rapidly getting into an era where there'll be no more "legends" to bring back for a quick spike in numbers and there's really very little in the pipeline to denote much of a future. But, again, by the time that trouble hits it's quite possible that Vince will be gone and some other entity entirely might own WWE.

Do you think they'd rehire Michael Bennett to work that much🤔

Could you imagine if you were a wrestling fan and just for fun you bought hundreds of shares when it was like what 8 dollars a share back in the day?
