The implication from it was that if you were adopted, it’s probably because you were a bad kid. Not very face-like. I don’t think she meant that if anyone was adopted it was because they were bad kids, but just Leyla herself. To Kris, Leyla is a horrible bitch, so to her, she must have been a bad kid. It’s really Kris throwing it back in Leyla’s face, who is the heel trying to invoke personal hardships for sympathy. Oh I‘m sure she didn’t mean it that way, but that’s the way it can come off. Maybe it was just the phrasing of it.

I loved it. It was definitely her best promo and gave her more of an edge. And really, in storyline, Leyla deserves it for the shit she’s done to her. There is no reason for Kris to play nice with her and be sympathetic to Leyla’s past hardships. If I got beat up all the time by a guy who was an orphan and was adopted, that doesn’t mean they are in the right. You wouldn’t have to show her sympathy or think she was in the right to just not make that particular dig at her. There’s a middle ground there. But in real life, and this is just me, and I’m generally a nice guy, but as I said, if I was being bullied and attacked by someone, and just because that someone had a hard life, they are still the asshole. Even if I said something harsh like that. I’m not the heel for saying it, and neither is Kris. Kris is angry and frustrated, and has every right to say what’s on her mind. And to me that shows she’s human (or in this case alien). Leyla was the one who made it all personal, everything is fair game in stuff like this.

I don't see what was so harsh about what she said. Certainly much tamer than the trash Ruby and Britt talked to each other...

Honestly, it just felt like the kind of thing a member of the Best Friends would say, since they're faces... but also dicks.
Kinda like if the "It's Always Sunny..." cast were a wrestling stable.

Are they gonna bring Kris' struggles, whatever they are into this,? Because for me I had to hope daily to get adopted from a Russian orphanage beats I pretend to be an alien in terms of what makes someone a babyface.

Are they gonna bring Kris' struggles, whatever they are into this,? Because for me I had to hope daily to get adopted from a Russian orphanage beats I pretend to be an alien in terms of what makes someone a babyface. The point never was Kris' struggles, the point was Leyla's been an asshole for weeks, and then when she had to own up to her actions, she played it off and questioned Kris' comeup in life by trying to throw her own backstory into the mix unprovoked to try and justify her actions and essentially gaslight Kris in the process. I'm flabbergasted this has any controversy whatsoever tbh, this is a babyface backstory, but Hirsch used it in a heel way, after hurting her former friends for the last like two months. She brought it to the table, I'm glad Statlander didn't just stand there and take it. It's also not like Leyla seemed to take it personally either, she just basically flipped into "I'm gonna kick your ass and show you I'm the better wrestler" immediately after.

Look whatever people think about it we can all agree it did its job in bringing more interest in this feud since people are now talking about it. Statlander as a babyface won't be damaged one bit by this.

From a kayfabe standpoint its not bad because you could assume since Kris an alien that she still doesnt fully understand human nature and whats in her mind is just wanting to beat the crap out of Leyla.

Exactly, with Leyla and all thing things has done leading up to it, made it fair game to hit with a low blow like that. She asked for it.

Leyla smashed her in the face with a chair last week. She had this coming. I’ve never bought the idea that somehow getting hit in the face with a chair is a justifiable reason to do much of anything in a medium where the point is to beat tour opponents so badly they can’t answer a 3 count. Stat’s comments are whatever but “you hit me with a chair” rings hollow for me as some cause of righteous indignation in pro wrestling.

I mean, Austin’s response to Brian Pillman antagonizing him was to go to his house and try to kill him with a gun so probably not the best comparison… Kinda got it backwards, Austin broke Pillman's ankle because Brian was being a little too happy building up Bret before the Survivor Series '96 match. Then Austin went to Brian's home and that's when Pillman pull out the gun. Austin was still 100% asshole heel

Statlander as a babyface won't be damaged one bit by this. I much prefer it to Statlander chasing Hirsch around the ring and then stopping because Layla went up a slight incline.

Let's take a simple line. "I'll kill you, then I'll kill you some more, and then some more." Let's say Austin or Rock delivers it with his typical style. My reaction? Maybe lol, maybe sigh. Let's say Statlander delivers it like a slightly more animated Hannibal Lecter. My reaction? Okay, that was ... unsettling.
