Probably one of the most iconic Simpson’s episodes, and definitely one of the best
EDIT: Back in the 90’s, pre DVD and pre streaming, it used to bring me pure joy when this episode came on

So back in 2017, for the episodes 25th anniversary, Fox aired a one-hour special about it called "Springfield of Dreams: The Legend of Homer Simpson" in the style of a Ken Burns' documentary. It featured some fun commentary and interviews including a very funny cameo by then NYC Mayor Bill deBlasio about Steve Sax. As near as I can tell it is not on either Disney+ or YouTube. Does anybody know if it is available to watch anywhere?

This is my favourite Simpsons episode and one of many that it took me growing up to really understand. As an adult it now evokes a strange melancholy in me, I suppose as I relate more and more with grown men wanting to live out boyhood dreams of sporting glory.

I still liked this episode better than Steinbrenner.

I quoted a line from this episode once and the person didn't get right off.
Timeless classic. I do sometimes binge Simpsons on FXX after not watching for years. My bias is towards Seasons 1-10.

I put on Simpson’s every night when I go to sleep and never go past Season 8. I’m not someone who hates the post Season 10 stuff, but the early seasons are just comfort food for me and make it easy to fall asleep.

It's not my absolute favorite Simpsons episode. That'd be Round Springfield. But it's in my top five along with Last Exit To Springfield, You Only Move Twice, and Treehouse of Horror III.

‘Uh-oh. I don’t understand a word he’s saying. Why won’t he just let me bat? I wish I was at home with a big bag of potato chips. Mmmm...potato chips.’
Haven’t seen the episode in years, but I can remember that line. Brilliant song over the end credits too.

Only three members of the 1992 Springfield Power Plant Softball team made it to the Baseball Hall of Fame (all on their first ballot).
Six members of Mr. Burns' dream roster (all long dead at the time) made it to the Hall.

It's funny because when I first heard the latter in the "Gang Beats Boggs" episode of It's Always Sunny, I thought it was sung by Randy Newman.
