Right now it’s my biggest fear, them flushing almost 60 years of history away. Best case scenario is they do like they did with the women’s titles a couple years ago and split them down the road.

I'll call my shot here - wrestling's got more than one Royal Family and it needs more than one champion so TV networks don't get mad. Cody's beating Roman sooner vs. later. Where did the idea that Cody is winning the title come from? Dude just returned and had one match. Do we really think he's winning a World belt anytime soon? That just doesn't make sense to me.

The way McMahon called Theory a future Universal champion instead of WWE champion would make me think yes, but I don’t think they’re merging the titles.

Seems like Drew McIntyre is next up for Roman. Bobby Lashley, Cody & AJ Styles are the top babyfaces, KO, Rollins & Edge are the top heels on Raw. If they want to have a world title on Raw, guessing there's a multi man match where Roman doesn't have to get pinned or they could have one of the Usos wrestle as his proxy and drop the belt that way. After last night I can't see any scenario outside of Roman being injured that they would have him take a pin or submit anytime remotely soon.

Because if you want to entice guys from AEW to come to WWE, you make an example out of Cody by strapping a rocket to him and treating him like an absolute star. Plus, he's one of the few guys Roman hasn't beaten yet.

AJ didn't win it until nearly seven months into his run. I'm seeing people calling for Cody to win it tonight. I don't think Roman is keeping both belts, but Cody is not even in my top ten of people I'd expect to get it. Based on past history, it's just too soon.

I know the first time they merged the belts in 2001, it lasted nine months.
How long was it between the Cena/Orton match and the introduction of the Universal title?

Respectfully, I think the whole "Vince needs people to take their lumps" mentality isn't true anymore and probably hasn't been for a bit. They signed him for what is apparently a stupid amount of money, are paying for his family's bus travel and brought him into WrestleMania with 90% of his AEW character and put him over one of their top guys. That's not how you treat somebody you're going to test. They're bought in.

There a chance they unify the World titles and finally make RAW/SD championships? I like this idea. Have the WWE World title as the top prize in the company, and have the champion travel between shows. Then you have Raw and Smackdown titles for the main event guys on both shows who aren't challenging for the WWE title. They could even structure things so we have Main Event guys on both shows as WWE title challengers, upper mid card guys as Raw/Smackdown title challengers, mid card guys as IC/US titles challengers, then your lower card and 24/7 guys. This way the networks still have an exclusive top title to keep them happy and we get back to only 1 top guy as World champion.

As of now, they are calling it the Undisputed WWE Universal Title and it's still technically two titles by history on the WWE site. I'm guessing the reason they haven't folded it into one history yet is because they don't want to get rid of the WWE Title history and they don't want to get rid of the days as champion total Roman has with the universal one.
We're probably a controversial finish away from them being un-unified maybe.

It was done before Wrestlemania 30, and the Universal was introduced at Summerslam 2016. Yeah but at that point, a strict brand split was long gone and the WHC was more or less a mid card belt.

Right now WWE are treating them both as still active if their roster page is anything to go on.

Predicting in January 2016 that WWE would use AJ Style well would make you a naive moron who somehow turned out to be right, not someone with the gift foresight

Honestly, I’d say f*** it and keep the lineages for both until they do another brand split and can split them up again
