My father was around Scott's age, I was almost exactly Cody Hall's age when I was called from the hospital to come see him. I knew what they just told me, I knew when I saw him that he was on life support - but it didn't register that he was definitely going to die that day. I was even cracking a joke about his facial expression he likely would have enjoyed. Life and death have equally funny ways to devestate us, to pull us up, but it's hard to notice either when you're looking right at them. This is so bad, but hopefully Scott can be at peace whatever happens.

I’m really angry about this. Guy turns his whole life around and escapes persistent death watch only to fall victim to hip replacement surgery complications? This world sucks. It hits home for many, too. My Uncle Matthew, my dad's wee brother, was an addict and an alcoholic for much of his life. He had learning issues and his mum (my gran) died young and he tried to self-medicate the depression as a teenager and it all spiralled from there. Long periods of time he was completely out of it, and at one point he just vanished off the face of the planet for 5 years. (To the point he had no idea where he'd spent it.) And then in 2003-ish, my Dad found him and convinced him the family wanted to see him. But we were all so delighted to see him, that he really from that day on, did a Jake the Snake. He cut the booze, he cut down the weed. He got medication for his mental health issues, he got a heavy vehicle driving licence. He moved from his slum flat back to his hometown, and made friends and became a cog in the community, driving shopping to the elderly in Winter and so on. And you know the punchline here. After cleaning up, and reuniting with everyone, and getting work, and finding a spot in the community, THAT'S when he died, very suddenly, in his sleep, of a heart attack. He was 48. This was nearly a decade ago now and still a week doesn't go by I don't think of him. I hope Scott Hall's family and friends cherish the extra time they got with him these last few years, because I know we did.

Heartbreaking, there's no other way to put it. The guy got himself righted, then is taken away due to a surgical complication in a common procedure. It's criminally unfair.
That said, I choose to take a sliver of solace in the idea that by getting himself clean, he got to spend the last number of years of his life in a much better place than he otherwise might've wound up. To know that he was there with his family, that to the end there were people who cared about him close by and there to support one another through all of this, is a small bit of comfort when compared with how many of us feared his story would end.

Scott Hall beat the wrestling curse. He didn't pass away in a hotel room alone after one night too many with drugs and alcohol. The guy got himself back together and was able to live a decade with a sober mindset. I'd also encourage folks to not judge if stories of him come out after the fact saying that he slipped up here or there. None of that matters when at the end of the day, he seemed to be doing better.
He's getting an end to his story that so many of his peers didn't. I'm sad it seems he'll be gone soon, but there's part of me that feels like he'd be happy knowing his family was getting the chance to say goodbye as opposed to getting a phone call. I just hope Cody's OK. I know there were rumblings he was having issues of his own.

I'm going to watch his bit with The Giant on Starrcade '97 tonight. I don't know why, but that is one of my favorite bits he did... he called him Frankengoof and it made me laugh so hard. I loved his feud with Larry Zbyzsko and how they would get into these pull-aparts and Hall got Larry over. Reading the news yesterday was heartbreaking, godspeed Scott Hall. Scott had the stroke to go over (or put over) just about anyone he wanted. While I definitely think the NWO went on too long without ending, it's hard to argue that Scott was loyal to Larry and wanted to make him huge and make him matter to the WCW audience.

The definition of machismo.
Survey time! Who came to see WCW? *Some cheers*
Now Who came to see the N...W...O?
*Big Pop*
Score another one for the Good Guys.

It's hard to see the silver linings right now but 20 years ago I don't think any of us would have expected to see Scott Hall make it to 63 years of age. It's thanks to his own fighting and the help of people like DDP that he did and in the last decade he did a lot to rehab his image. There was that ESPN 360 documentary which laid all his demons bare, him going to live with DDP, his Hall of Fame induction which produced one of the greatest speeches and he got multiple chances to appear in front of big crowds with his friends again in recent years.

This one will hurt. Getting to meet him, Nash, and Waltman at WrestleCade several years ago was one of the best awe moments of my teenage years. They were extremely cool.
Reading Nash's post got me.

Wow, just devastating. But as has been mentioned it could've been a lot worse.
Scott Hall was one of my favorites as a kid.

Sting owes his career post-1996 to Scott Hall in many ways.

If the is is truly the end for Hall, he’s surrounded by family and friends, and he has an outpouring of support and love from fans like myself that grew up watching him. He’s also a man that was able to battle his demons and beat them.
So while it is sad that he’s not much longer for this world and in a way that he had no way of preventing, he can hopefully leave this life with a peaceful mind, knowing that his legacy will live on.

Really feels like an Eddy thing where they'd turned the corner but lifetime of damage had already been done.
Won't see another like him.

Rewatched his 2001 Japan work this morning.
It's under 5 minutes, but if you can, take a moment to watch Scott Hall vs Tanahashi from September, 2001. The crowd pop at the end is amazing.

Obviously this sucks and as others have said, it seems like a really bad joke given what he has overcome in the past decade.
All that said, we should all be so lucky to have lived a life that results in having a friend or friends feel the way about us that Kevin Nash expressed in that post earlier.

I'm just glad that, despite a couple relapses which is normal with longtime addicts, he was given that second chance and had these several years of a renewed life.

Shit man, this is a tough one. If it's as it looks like it is, I'm glad that the man got to live out his final years as happy and healthy as possible.
But, man oh man, the world is just unfair sometimes.

As someone who has to make the call to take my Dad off life support a year ago next week per advance directive orders, this hits especially hard.
I feel for his family.
My dad was a lifelong wrestling fan, so hopefully he and Scott will cross paths in that great arena in the sky.
