Jimmy Fallon someone I am very neutral on, would go up so many points in my book and being awesome, if he took one night off and let David Letterman guest host, let an old man's life long dream come true.
Question would NBC ever allow that, I think that would be a good ratings grab, so from this prospective money to be made.

Would Letterman even do it? Someone should have a Top 10 List why he should.

I'd say Jimmy Fallon is the Michael Cole of talk show hosts, but Michael Cole has moments where he's actually good every once in a while.

Really hmm, perhaps the point is moot. Yeah, that's a big reason why he was seen as THE guy to replace Carson. The dream was getting it permanently as his show. Yeah, it's why he had to be convinced by his agent to take the CBS deal in the first place. NBC dangled a BS offer for him to host the show permanently....after a period of time that could allow Leno to potentially get his feet under him and establish himself fully as Carson's replacement. It would have prevented Dave from leaving and would have forced him to stay at the 12:30 slot for the short term and potentially for the long term as well. It was a transparent effort to have their cake and eat it too while kneecapping Dave's ability to progress his career. NBC then threatened to enact a clause in their last contract with Dave that allowed them to match any contract offer he received. CBS countered that threat by putting a poison pill in their offer, one where they would have to pay a penalty of $50M/year (I could have that amount wrong) if they did not have Dave as the host of a show that starts at 11:30 (the Tonight Show slot), a clause that NBC would have also had to adhere to if they matched the contract. CBS always intended to have Dave host that slot to begin with, so that did not bother them in the slightest, but it would have forced NBC to triple their late night budget or give Dave the Tonight Show and live with Leno rightfully suing them into oblivion.

Fallon is a P.O.S. the guy threw Norm MacDonald under the bus when Norm had his own little nontroversy. Then after Norm died, tried to pretend they were such good friends. He's a phony. A great big phony.

Can they include James Cordon in this ? He’s about as funny as knob rot. Craig Ferguson was already brilliant but when he’s compared to the dross on now, he’s in the top level imo.

Cordon is just unfunny. I like Trevor Noah. Steven Colbert is a good interviewer but he kind of laid on the political stuff too much over the past few years. Johnny Carson to me of all the late night talk show host I’ve been able to see was the best. It did help that his calibre of guests was better. I mean he could have Jonathan winters and robin Williams on together and he’d just leave them do their thing and interject when needed. It wasn’t about him.

As Mike Stoklasa once said, the only thing Jimmy Fallon should host is a parasite.

How he lasted as long as he did on SNL is beyond me, since Lorne Michaels supposedly detests people breaking character or going off-script.

The recent Fallon segment where he had Paris Hilton on to talk about NFTs is the only television segment I've ever seen where you can almost hear the audience cringing.

I don't know what was the worse change of hosts: the transition from Conan O'Brien to Jimmy Fallon or the transition from Craig Ferguson to James Corden.
