Will most NXT 2.0 callups now change their name?

But they started again with Gunther and our newest addition, BUTCH.

Being fair both WALTER and Dunne were names used outside of WWE. They don't have the same reason to change, like, Bron Breakker.

If they change the name and nothing else like with WALTER/GUNTHER, it's not ideal but it's a wee bit easier to swallow.

That being said, BUTCH is one of the worst name changes I've seen in a long time. Makes GUNTHER look competent.

I think it's because in Vince's mind when he thinks of Europe he thinks of tea, crumpets, dudes with white wigs and other stuff from decades ago. He's gotta go super "European stereoype" with it.

A name like Butch to him sounds like a guy who you'd see in an English backalley wearing a newsboy cap, wife beater and suspenders.

I'm just curious why WWE hits on so many shitty, nothing names these days. You can make up a good, or even passable, ring name no problem, even if you have to clumsily retcon it, but nobody's going to think, "Once in a lifetime star," just hearing the full name Gunther or Butch or Erik.

Like I still wouldn't be crazy about Pete Dunne suddenly being Butch MacKenzie or something but at least it's a name.
