Being that it's almost two years since this event, I sometimes wonder if this event should count as a Wrestlemania. Granted, it happened at one of the weirdest times in history and while we are still technically in a pandemic, the time when this happened was when things were more restricted. It was a strange time for everyone. It felt like it was done just to say that the event happened. That isn't to say that the overall event wasn't bad. Night One was the better one, while Night Two had some good matches, as well. But with no crowd, it still felt weird. Hell, Rob Gronkowski trying to hype up the audience at home, while I could understand what he tried to do, it just didn't work. Then again, you could say the same about all of the Performance Center shows at that time.
What do you think?

I mean, I guess it does by default. Like, it’s not like it could be helped how it happened (even if the Florida Government and WWE were basically thinking more about money than the potential lives affected by holding it anyway) and it still had the matches as advertised even in not ideal circumstances.
So yes but not because they could help it.

Yes. It’s got a uniqueness that (hopefully) no other Wrestlemania will ever have.

Of course. It will always be different from the others and there were some good matches despite the circumstances. Drew's "thank you" at the end was unique to the show having no audience.

Yes, it's just a WrestleMania I'll never want to revisit (other than Wyatt/Cena and Taker/AJ)

Yes. I'd apply the same rules as those bubble NBA and NHL seasons as well. They happened. And people won things.

Honestly it's probably the best one in recent years.

That Boneyard Match has a popular meme seen often in the wild outside of wrestling sites. That alone puts that Wrestlemania above most of the last decade.

Yes. It’s got a uniqueness that (hopefully) no other Wrestlemania will ever have. This. It's the perfect Wrestlemania you can use to describe how great characters and storylines are without the influence of fans. Yeah, fans are great and everything but if you strip that way then you're back to the basics. Those basics show how great a product truly is.

yeah, but not cannon. And by that I mean, I don't rate it as a good or a bad show.

I actually didn't watch it. I thought without the fans there, I'd lose interest in wrestling (even though I'd only just got into it, again). That didn't happen, lol.

And it definitely has its share of highlights, for me the main three being the Boneyard and Firefly Funhouse matches along with Charlotte/Rhea standing out as a great example of how to tell an in-ring story with no audience. Seth/KO is pretty solid and the SD women's 5-way is fun too.

I’ll look back at Wrestlemania 36 as sort of a time capsule of the weirdness that was going on in the world at that time in 2020.

I'd be surprised if more than two seconds of it gets shown in Mania hype packages chronicling all the Manias in future

I found it unwatchable without fans and crowd noise. Like the RAWs before they put the crowd screens in were so awkward and weird. I could cope once they put the screens in for the crowd but no crowd at all sucked- apart from Rock Vs Mankind.

Not only is it a real Wrestlemania, but Orton/Edge is actually still going on.

I think it should still count.
If we want to make sure, we could ask Edge and Randy Orton because I think their match is still going, two years later.
