If we are counting "One Hit Wonders" as in people that people consider one hit wonders despite having more than one... The thread title is a little clumsy. "Successful Acts with One Song Way More Popular Than the Rest" would be a better way of phrasing it.

Ace of Base is most remembered for “the sign”, but I clearly remember at least two other hit songs
All that she wants Don’t turn around

Co-signed. That song f***ing slaps. I'm actually seeing them in July I gotta admit, when Steven Page left, I kinda stopped paying attention. Ed's great in his own way, but BNL was always centered around Steven for me. He's one of the most criminally underrated voices in music, equally at home in a whisper as he is belting out high notes. But more than that, his writing always had a weight in the center of it that Ed's writing tends to lack for me. Steven always has a meaning just under the surface of the silliness, a bit of grit right under the veneer. All that being said, I do believe that they are a classic Lennon-McCartney, and they have rarely done anything without the other that has been anywhere near as good. Steven has a handful of solo tunes I enjoy, but he's not quite hit the same paydirt. Same for me. I love Gordon and Maybe You Should Drive, but then each album a little less. I think I stopped buying after Stunt? I really should go check out their other stuff. I forget what grade it was, but did a lip sync thing to the King of Bedside Manor. Obviously, those days you couldn’t just Google lyrics and the teachers never listened to the song beforehand because I can’t imagine “I couldn’t help but notice that riding crop/Sticking out of your haversack/Well I, I wouldn't mind riding you bareback” Would fly. I was young enough to have no idea what that meant.

Also, the only reason anyone remembers their song "Heaven" is because of those Rock Ballads compilations. "Heaven" actually had a lot of air play in the 80s since it was more radio friendly than "Cherry Pie". It was actually bigger hit for them than "Cherry Pie", but for whatever reason the band was defined by "Cherry Pie", even though it was one of their worst songs. Janie Lane HATED “Cherry Pie”. He was pretty proud of most of the material for their second album, particularly the planned title track, “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”. The label rep wanted one more “single” for the album and just wouldn’t let it go. To get him off his back, Janie spent literally 15 minutes shitting out a song that did all of the thing the label asked for, expecting them to hate it and leave him alone.

I know they've scored a bunch of hits on the rock chart, but Papa Roach's Last Resort seems to be their debut single that gets the most airplay when it comes to radio. Although Scars was another huge hit for them on the pop charts, but it certainly had a long lasting impact on their career.
And controversial as it may sound, Nirvana helped contribute to the rise of grunge and left a legacy in rock music. But if you ask a random person to name at least one song from them, nine times out of ten it's "Smells Like Teen Spirit."

Warrant planned on the album that would become "Cherry Pie" being called "Uncle Tom's Cabin", with the song being the lead single. I think "Cherry Pie" is a fun song, and it certainly helped the band's career, but it's not really a fair representation of Jani as a songwriter. "Uncle Tom's Cabin" is a *much* stronger song. The intro alone is fantastic.

Eh... there's also Come as you are, In Bloom and Lithium that still get a lot of air play. I think I hear Lithium more than any of the others honestly.

ICP never really had any hit songs, but I have yet to meet someone who has never heard Chicken Huntin before. Miracles is probably a more current example too.

Yeah Warrant actually had SEVERAL big hits that have all been obscured by that one very, very doofy song. I kinda get why they're so bitter about it.

Uncle Tom's Cabin was a very well written song, Janie was probably the best, at least one of the best lyricists for their style of music. I feel if was in another genre, he would have been more appreciated. I seriously hope he didn't take his own life because of "Cherry Pie", I know that it ate at him greatly.

having made 1 whole music video suddenly had casuals being able to identify a Grateful Dead song with Touch Of Grey, even at some Dead & Company shows, if they play that the crowd explodes for that over anything else they play. Was surprised a set that included Althea, Box Of Rain and Ripple was out popped by Touch Of Grey as I find that song to be a overall weak song. But thats still the power of the music video. Plus it really is one of the more radio friendly songs they have.
