Anyone notice that 99% of the sex positive or LGBTQ gimmick performers who get even a shred of mainstream wrestling attention turn out to be f***ing creepy assholes?

I do hope the talent that Quincy outed at least finds the reaction positive enough that they're able to officially come out on their own terms.

I do hope the talent that Quincy outed at least finds the reaction positive enough that they're able to officially come out on their own terms. As someone that can speak from experience, outing someone is some foul shit to do to a person. It took me a long time after high school to trust anyone after all the stuff that happened to me after I told the wrong person (who I thought I could trust) that I was gay. The last two years of high school were a shit show. One time literally. I hope whoever it is can bounce back, and do things on their terms. Whether they choose to officially come out or not. I hope it doesn't impact them too negatively. Just the idea of a gay person outing another gay person is like "you know the society we live in....the closet exists for a f***ing reason..." Like, what the actual f*** is wrong with Quincy? Apparently has issues with Trans people, and now also has issues with other gay people? The more I think about it the more pissed off I get.

This is an extremely unhelpful post, man. I like you a lot and we agree on a lot but this the rhetoric that ends with people like me having our rights taken away

also not to throw oil on any flames cause I’m quite a big fan of everyone in this thread but as someone who is lgbtq+ it really is confusing and exhausting that every time we seem to get someone that can push things forward in not only a positive way but inventive way that sings true to being lgbtq+ itself, insane shit happens
that’s not to take away from those who aren’t who espew crazy shit too (hi ronda) but it really sucks that seemingly as soon as things are going great everything goes up in a dumpster fire

I am not saying that sex positive or LGBTQ performers turn out to be creepy assholes. I am saying that a lot of sex positive or LGBTQ gimmick performers who get mainstream attention are creepy assholes. Val Venis. Velveteen Dream. Joey Ryan. The person this thread is dedicated to. It seems to me that a lot of creeps shield themselves in these gimmicks so they can continue on with their shitty behavior. Maybe I'm off base, and if I am, I apologize. I think my posts show that I have no ill will toward anyone actually LGBTQIA+, but there just seems to be pattern of people playing sexual characters in wrestling and really bad behavior.

Consider how many people got accused of rape, chatting up minors, etc, that didn't have those kinds of gimmicks, though. Like, most of the UK SpeakingOut people, for example. Meanwhile, Sonny Kiss, Effy, Nyla Rose, Dalton Castle, and plenty of other flamboyant and/or openly LGBTQ+ talent have stayed out of trouble. The gimmick doesn't really give us any indication one way or the other what to expect.

I get that people like Quincy, Jake Atlas, and Velveteen Dream have let people down, but they remain in the minority of what has been an explosion of queer talent in wrestling in recent years.

Even so, just think about how you word stuff like that, especially because (and this is not an excuse to discuss this stuff here) a lot of people are using the wording you've used to push agendas.

Honestly I don’t think it’s too much to expect adults to have some level of responsibility. If they can’t filter themselves on social media then they face the consequences - straight up banning them from using it in the first place is not really the answer here. I also feel like we need to stop acting like social media sites are the cause of these things because, regardless of what we think, they’re only platforms for these things rather than the biggest factor. Hardcore Holly would still have been a dick for his WWE career regardless of if he had a Twitter account in 2001 or not and Quincy seemed like a guy who’d still have these dumbass urges and hateful attitude if he didn’t have a Twitter account, he’d just get it out in a different way like the locker room or on a night out or whatever and we’d be finding it out on a badly directed shoot interview years later. Social Media has allowed some really stupid people to expose themselves for who they really are. As much as I think social media has been a detriment to society... in this case, it's probably a good thing so we aren't propping as many of these people up as we used to because we know who they really are. I don't know.

I will say though that the frequency with which higher profile queer wrestlers turn out to be scumbags is an absolute misery and a problem that absolustely plays nasty and unhelpful and I would like it if they stopped. There's a lot of them who have not run afoul of any accusations or slime behavior, and that's great, but every time one of them with a WWE contract pulls something sleazy it's going to get more coverage to it than an indie or Japanese wrestler by default. That's coverage and perception during a time where it's just fuel for the bigots every time they get caught doing creep shit. I'm glad that the business is now more accepting of openly queer wrestlers, but it's sort of like that Wrestle Queerdom show from last year where it was just a clueless internet idiot scummily f***ing up their first indie show, something that happens constantly, but which ended up attracting more attention and 'reasons to use slurs' because of who was organizing it. There's a scrutiny and a double standard that it feels is still years away from being dropped because this kind of stuff plays into prejudices and ideas right now so hardcore in their revival as public, 'acceptable' rhetoric.
Anyway f*** Quincy.

Kidd Bandit & Effy need to start a stable of LGBTQ+ Warriors to run wild through the promotions and be that Shining Light through the darkness.
