I feel like the "there's no f***ing way he comes back" was said a lot about Cody Rhodes. Wonder how that turned out? Never say never.

Mox turned down a shit load of money to stay. He's said that he's got all the money he really ever needs. I'm not saying he's never going to come back but I think he only goes back if he has some level of creative freedom to do his own thing. That was three years ago. That was prepandemic. That was pre-having a child. That was prerehab. There are so many reasons why his mind could be more open than it was back then. And if he really isn't open to signing in WWE, why hasn't he signed a new contract yet? I didn't say he was unwilling to go back, read my last sentence... I literally said the opposite.

Regal or...King booker... or somebody makes him lord Ambrose of Moxley.
It's a tough one, can't see it happening outside of a nostalgia run at the very end of his career and who knows which name will mean more by then, or if Reigns and Rollins will be around to make it worthwhile.

If anything, WWE has become even more of what Mox hated about it in the first place.

And if he really isn't open to signing in WWE, why hasn't he signed a new contract yet? For the same reason anybody whose contract is expiring does: leverage. WWE will almost certainly offer him better terms than AEW's current offer, which puts him in prime position to go back to Tony and say "Offer me better than this and I'll stay."

If.
Cody's not necessarily a great example, either. Cody was "management" who didn't get what he wanted creatively, butted heads with Tony and it led to his own bizarre multiverse opening up on AEW TV before he departed. He's way more a WWE-style guy than Mox and it shows.
Moxley, by all accounts, is creatively fulfilled. He gets to do mainstream stuff on AEW and make great money, he gets to go work indie/NJPW dates and explore those passions. Working for AEW gives him the flexibility to do whatever he wants, and we've heard nothing to suggest he's been dumb with his money.
Yes, he's got a kid now, but the WWE schedule doesn't really afford you a ton of time at home. Probably not ideal for a newly sober gent, either.
Is it possible we see him in the HOF? Sure. I don't think the bridge is torched, he was just done. But in terms of guys I think you could see make the jump from AEW to WWE, there's an argument that Moxley is at the very bottom of that list.

Cody was "management" who didn't get what he wanted creatively, butted heads with Tony and it led to his own bizarre multiverse opening up on AEW TV before he departed. He's way more a WWE-style guy than Mox and it shows. Honestly when you look at his trajectory in retrospect, I think Cody always intended to go back to WWE, and 'All In' was simply a way for him to show the biggest show in town that he was a Main Event draw along with his friends. Before Tony Khan came knocking, it's almost certain that he and the Elite were all headed to WWE under lucractive contracts; clearly history changed that in the short term, but Cody has always come off as a guy who wants more for his career so that he can create his own legacy. Mox on the other hand has been someone who has been very vocal about his desire to have passion in what he's doing, and up until the end of his contract his passion for the business was all but gone, driven out by being worn down both his work as well as his complete lack of control over his character and creativity (one could argue that his alcoholism certainly amplified his hopelessness). Since stepping away from the WWE, he's had a rejuvenation of both his confidence and his passion for his work. That doesn't necessarily mean that he's "done" with the WWE as far as personal relationships and connections are concerned, but he definitely saw a toxic connection to where he was at compared to where he is now. I agree that we could very well see a 'Shield' induction into the HoF for he and his colleagues, but I doubt he'll ever work under the name Dean Ambrose ever again.[/quote]

He wants to bleed and work indies and he is independently wealthy. I am not sure any WWE structure would ever work for him now.

Honestly, I can do without seeing another Shield reunion (outside of their HOF induction) anyway.

It was a typical example of "how can we miss something if it never goes away?". especially since... Roman was still doing the one man Shield schtick until his most recent heel turn... which even still had a lot of the shield trappings until way later.

When a dude leaves saying it doesn't matter how much money they offer, I hate it here...then works death matches for 1500 bucks...
Dude ain't coming back, what he wants they can't offer.

Moxley is not going to want to fall into a role similar at times to KO and his forced performances (at little fault of his own) will show that. Some guys just aren't WWE guys especially when WWE doesn't know what it wants

I think he should only have a 2 year run

I hate to say it as well but he seems to be in a safer environment for himself personally instead of on the road drinking to cope with the sheer workload outside of the ring that WWE requires...Moxley hopefully will be the AEW Dreamer

He's returning to the WWE for a Hall of Fame induction for the Shield, if that, if ever
Like seriously, listen to his Podcasts when he left, he was so beyond done with the place, he literally stated himself he'd rather work Gyms full of 20 people for the rest of his career just about, he was so creatively sapped dry it was the first time he felt robotic doing what he loved by the end. It wasn't healthy, and it was not a Cody situation.

They’re way looser with handing those out these days, I know AJ got one when he re-signed, Orton’s had one for years, I believe Roman’s on one now but I might be wrong on that one.

That as well as house shows as they were are pretty much done it appears...Certainly not nearly as prolific as they were as Covid showed they could be extremely profitable without them...hell without fans haha
