While I'm in agreement that things can change, Rampage was still a top 10 show and doing well when it was consistently in one timeslot, and that's for a taped show. No doubt TNT was happy with that. The issue is the playoffs keep moving it around... and that's very much on them. Hopefully when this blows over, Rampage can get back to its normal median. No question. I’m just saying after 3 years with a proven track record of doing much better than the original ‘TNT-would-be-happy-with’ number, Dynamite’s expectations are much higher. That’s a compliment to AEW: it has earned higher expectations by exceeding original expectations. All I’m saying it we’ve moved past that point (TNT wanting at least 500k). There’s no reason to bring it up anymore. I think the only time it should ever really be brought up is when people are trolling about AEW "Being in trouble" or "Being on death's door", as you said, it is a high compliment, and AEW's doing just fine to be honest with the deal restructure coming up. Their growth year over year has been marked, and I hope it continues. Rampage being knocked around is annoying, but it's not the status quo, thankfully.

This is going to be an annual thing as long as Discovery/Turner have NBA playoffs. And frankly they’d be nuts to give that up given the ratings, so it isn’t going away. So a few times a year Rampage gets moved. And there will be a ratings dip (for WWE as well) during NBA playoffs because it is a ratings magnet and takes viewers away from everything. I don’t see anything about AEW’s ratings that concern me or make me worry for the company at all. But they’re not going to beat the NBA head to head and Rampage is going to yo-yo around the NBA schedule because they have to do that because of their contracts — they can’t tell the NBA to move their games, haha.

Rampage still provides AEW a great tool in negotiation, even if their numbers settle around a .16 to .20 in 18-49. NXT gets WWE somewhere between 30-50 million for their two hours and do similar numbers. With the one hour, let's say Rampage brings in 25 million in value. That's really good!

There’s no reason to bring it up anymore. That’s incredibly sound logic, that I legitimately hadn’t thought of before. TBS’s expectations for Dynamite now are probably 700k minimum, possibly more. Rampage gets moved more so it fluctuates more, probably gets more leeway, but totally agree with what you’re saying It’s important to realize that TNT also renegotiated the deal and is paying AEW a lot more than they were when they first signed on, so their ratings expectations even monetarily are also higher.

In both cases, it's a completely irrelevant anomaly which will be irrelevant by next week, let alone the next time negotiations come up. I just don't think there's that much room for pearl clutching about sad Twitter wars about Rampage and ratings, when Tony Khan revels in it and partakes pretty frequently (which reminds me, when is he releasing that report on Vince's bot farm?). Your take might be that Tony was totally justified in doing it, but he was still doing it. Even though you have obvious disdain for Tony Khan, AEW did beat WWE in the demo ratings when they went head to head. That's an objective fact. That's something WWE itself used in answering a lawsuit brought against it, as an objective fact. That there are competitors out there that have beaten WWE. It wasn't just something on twitterverse. That’s true, it did happen. There’s definite context to it that makes it a pointless fact for purposes of what’s going to happen in the future, similar to how it’s pointless to get upset at a low Rampage rating when it aired at 5:30 pm.
