That dark side of the ring skit put it into 10/10 territory for me

10, as good an episode of a weekly wrestling TV show you'll find.

The other thing about the main event I'll say is I know the spot had risk to it, but Darby hit nothing but Jeff and the flats of the chairs, you can see Jeff and him talking post spot just to make sure all was good and it seemed to be Darby was a professional stuntman before this wrestling thing, I actually think I'd trust him, as insane as he is, with these spots more than anyone else. He literally pissed off his first wrestling coach because his first bumps didn't hurt him at all. Yeah there was obviously risk due to the position of the chairs and height but you can trust Darby with Jeff's help to make it as safe as possible. Anyone else not so much. Sammy's was worse imo, that was just reckless. Anyway 9/10.

Botches are always going to be a risk with high flyers, but Jeff and Darby are trained for this stuff. They know how to fall.
Which is why I found the knee-jerk comparisons to Owen's death all the more disrespectful. He didn't die doing a botched high flying wrestling move. He died from equipment failure.

The big high spot didn't bother me though it did all feel somewhat out of place in an Owen Hart tournament match, like it made no sense for these two to actively try to kill each other to the extent they did.
I know he's free to do whatever he pleases but hopefully Jeff isn't doing this much longer.

And looking back at it again, it’s actually a much safer bump than a lot of others both men have done.

Both bumps have some risk for sure and were designed to look painful. But they're also designed to at least somewhat protect the performers. Jeff breaks Darby's fall on the first big bump and they land flat back onto chairs which have some give to them. And the stair spot is similar. It looks painful and makes a good thud but that part of the steps actually has a good amount of give to absorb the impact on Jeff's back. Was it painless? Of course not. But I'd rather do both of those spots than that Adam Cole spot where he lands back first on the top of two chairs back to back.

I gave an 8
I thought the show looked totally mediocre on paper and it blew my head off multiple times

8. Great show. Loved Punk troll and MJF stuff. I think they should tone some stuff down though. Sammy almost killed himself the other week and that Darby spot tonight was insanely dangerous. Save it for PPV. My take on it is, Darby and Jeff may never wrestle again... you gotta do one crazy spot After some of those bumps, I was afraid this part was going to be literal

First full Dynamite I've watched in a long time.
I do wish the main event was given more time, I hope they get to face off again in the future. And I have no idea how Darby didn't destroy his lower back on the move from the top of the ladder. Loved the sprint out of the gate start, I just wish it had more time to build.
Overall an 8.

So recently I had been finding AEW really boring, and had even considered taking a break from watching it.
I thought tonight's show was a solid 10. It felt like there was more character tonight, a bit more 'entertainment' whilst also putting on quality matches, but also different types of matches. Women's match and main event were fantastic, yet completely different.
I think it helped they had a few shorter matches too, on TV you don't always need to go 20 minutes especially if it's on obvious outcome. We all know Punk isn't losing to a low-level guy on free TV, we know the BCC aren't losing a trios match 2 weeks in, sometimes you just need to get to the punchline.
So match wise tonight was paced much better, but also there was more development. BCC finally helped Kingston, Punk feuded with New Jersey, MJF was great and that Dark Side Of The Ring parody was EXACTLY what AEW should be doing more of, and used to do a lot. I feel that's the stuff that is missing, I've never seen DSOTR but the Jericho bit about being paid, Taz crying, the pure arrogance of it, random cameos to make you pop...more of that AEW. You have so many creative minds who can create this stuff, personally I prefer that and things like Jericho-MJF singing, Kingston and Mox chilling chatty bob etc. to interrupted interviews and generic in-ring interviews
Great episode, and enough to bring me back in lol
Edit - forgot the Hook - Danhausen segment, again something more fun between wrestling matches. If that was another ten minute wrestling match squeezed in to fill time the show would have dragged, great variety is needed and it is making those two guys stars (and bags of money)

Went back and watched this one, though I completely skipped the opener since I kind of paused it for a second at the start and then was just kind of realizing no part of me cared at all about Dax / Cole. Also skipped the Britt promo because yeah.
That said for the most part definitely enjoyed it, think maybe an 8? Were parts I wasn't into - thought the JAS promo was terrible though the segment on the whole was good from when Moxley showed up so kind of not too inclined to hold it against it, main event was kind of a moronic clusterf*** but at least it was short and it's not like a straight match would've been any better, though I always hate that stupid, "I'm just not going to sell your finish and then pin you," ending - but for the most part found it a pretty easy sit. MJF / Wardlow segment in particular was excellent.
