Any sci-fi movie where a spaceship flies like an airplane. Physics doesn’t work like that. You can’t bank left and right and you can’t dive straight at something and pull up at the last second. Realistic space flight is about straight lines and thrust vectors and making sure you don’t run out of fuel. All sorts of stuff that would make a really boring movie. So I fully accept when Han Solo does a loop in the Millenium Falcon to blast a Tie fighter that is bobbing left and right.

Sometimes, people get really angry about a character doing something illogical in a film and don't ask the question of, "But does it make sense for THIS character to make this mistake?" Case in point, Infinity War, Starlord's error in judgment. In that moment, that is what that character would do. Losing people is a particularly harsh thing on him, and as we saw in GOTG 2, he will lose his cool in these situations over it, even if it puts him in danger. Not saying these movies are high cinema or anything, but these are not flaws in the films themselves. That level of criticism makes me wonder if these types of people would have an absolute meltdown watching Othello. I've never heard anyone say it was illogical (or out of character). Stupid? Absolutely. Cost them an easy win? Possibly. But Starlord had already shown through 2 films that he's hot-headed and doesn't think things through, especially where family and friends are concerned. I mean, he attacked an immortal planet after learning said planet killed his mom. Tony Stark and Drax, who are both hot-heads themselves, even see what's about to happen and try to stop it. It seems to me you're defending something that no one is attacking.

While Star Wars looked like that because Lucas was trying to recreate the look and feel from WW2 actual dogfight footage, there are a few logical ways to explain why you might fly like that in that universe. Namely, it’s because the pilots tend to fly with not all of their momentum compensated for in order to be able to have a better feel for their craft’s motion. Because they they are still subjected to momentum, it might be necessary to fly that way to prevent harm to the pilots.

Force ghost Anakin being changed from Shaw to Hayden. It showed that Anakin truly did returned to his old self.
Hell most SE changes for continuity or better visuals are improvements. I mainly draw the line at the silly Han/Greedo scene where Lucas bends over backwards trying to retcon that and the dumbass music number in Jabba's palace.

Strange made no move to stop him, Star Lord had to attack Thanos for them to win. It didn't cost them an easy win, it was part of the only way they would win.

Babylon 5 yields as closely to physics as a show can, and is able to make it look good.

Force ghost Anakin being changed from Shaw to Hayden. It showed that Anakin truly did returned to his old self. I wasn't sure on it. Personally I liked seeing Hayden because I liked Hayden's Anakin and I felt that it tied things up, but it was a shame to see Shaw go at the end there. His performance as the unmasked Vader is a lovely little gem. But I've made peace with it especially in the last couple years, having seen a lot of people doing first watches of all the Star Wars films and/or big Clone Wars fans doing the OT for the first time. For them, it's their Anakin returning at the end, rather than the old guy they don't have a connection with. And clearly very special for them when that happens. So I think that's rather sweet. As for the wider point, I'd personally prune some Special Edition bits, but like 80% of it is a real improvement in my eyes. Something like Cloud City is wonderfully transformed, for instance.

The purely visual-related changes are mostly good, but the nuking the original theatrical cuts from availability is what really sucks.

I'll defend the Aliens in Signs to the end.
"BUT VAL, WATER KILLS THEM AND THEY ARE INVADING A PLANET FULL OF WATER LOL ALIENS IN SIGNS ARE SO STUPID"
There's a lot of environments that are deadly to humans but we put tons of effort into acquiring resources from them. So why is that a "dumb thing" for an alien to do?

While that's true, we also still send people to their deaths all the time for even mundane resources. Maybe that first wave of aliens was the "1900's coal miner class" of alien ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

I mean, this wouldn't have been such a sore point for people if they would've just included some throwaway line about how the aliens really didn't have the fuel to get to another planet with life, so it was Earth, water and all, or imminent extinction.

Or it's not the water that's melting their faces, it's what's dissolved in the water. The Fluoride that's added to the water is what did it. The government knew all along!

I actually love the fan theory that the aliens that were on Earth were dumped there as if Earth were the aliens' Australia. It's like, "All right criminals! We've dumped you on a hellscape as your sentence for your crimes! If you survive and successfully transform the planet into a place we can live then you are welcome to return to society with your debt considered paid. If you die instead, well that sounds like a whole lot of "not our problem!" Basically, it's the plot of the game Planet Crafter except the planet the convicts have to transform is currently occupied.

If you genuinely think I haven't seen people complain about it, it's a little weird considering the sheer level of people talking about the movie. Do you really think no one's said that? Like, people can and will be wrong about shit on the internet, that's just how it is.

On a similar note, I know Gravity obviously got a bunch of stuff wrong about how space works period, but I didn’t care because the elements that were changed help make things more fun. The fire extinguisher might not really have worked but it was creative. I know satellites don’t fly that fast, but that made it more intense. I had a big crush on Sandra Bullock growing up so I was gonna have a good time even if none of that could really happen.

The hate for Star-Lord got so intense online that the Russos had to put out an article explaining why it wasn't his fault and Chris Pratt was asked about it. Which in turn led to stuff like this:

Midichlorians. How else do Jedi find other force sensitive? Planets submitting health records of newly borns to a government database and Jedi having access to those with high Midichlorian rates would make sense for recruiting. .....the Force? No...THE SCHWARTZ!
