I figured Joe's situation was different. Man lived through the highs and absolute lows of TNA. Also got shook around WWE for a bit before his release. Man is almost loyal to a fault. I remember nL almost got Samoa Joe on a stream with them in 2014 but he dipped out cause one of their Twitch chat mods made a TNA sucks joke in a tweet thread he was @'d in.

I get that he’s underpaid but this MJF stuff is disappointing to read. A lot of people put a lot of time into legitimizing him and he’s walking out when he’s supposed to help bring along another young star. f*** that dude.

The fact that there's now a worry that everything is a work makes me want to shoot Vince Russo into the sun. Bro you just don't understand what he was going for... and standards and practices neutered it... and and... the wrestler couldn't pull of my genius... the point is I take no responsibility for any of my writing being dogshit... -Vince Russo >_>

To this day I say the whole Vince Russo "it's a work" thing has been the worst part of wrestling discussions these past few decades. I'm just glad he doesn't seem to have enough fans that his stupid ideas don't get spread as far and wide anymore... like his insistence that the WWE is bankrolling AEW ... and his reasons are basically cause trust me bro.

I’m going to say this is a work and until he actually no shows the PPV nobody will convince me otherwise….brother. I'll still believe this is a work until he doesn't wrestle Wardlow tomorrow. And even then I'll be 50/50 on it, though regardless at that point even if it was a work it would be the worst work I've ever seen. Hahaha, I agree with that general point, but with MJF I take that as gospel.

Wow. That's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy later than I thought it would be. I've never heard of a contract situation like this in wrestling this far out. Like, within 4 months I get but that long? Wow. It would make it about a 5 year deal. It also could've been quietly extended from an initial deal as some talents like the Bucks and Omega already did that. He signed for AEW early 2019 and then June/July that year it was reported that he signed a new 5 year deal

Also consider this match is for Wardlows AEW contract... So what are they gonna go? Just count to 10, Tony come out gives Wardlow his contract while the crowd chants f*** MJF? Probably send Spears out in his place, the commentators pass it off as MJF being so spineless he skipped town rather than face Wardlow, and it's a quick squash. That's not a good idea, if they dona match it has to be something big to makeup for what happened.

Naturally I'm seeing a lot of people trying to go, "What, you're mad about this but you think Sasha and Naomi were fine?" over this, like there's no difference between walking out of Raw before a match that wasn't advertised and no one would've cared about to begin with and skipping a contract signing, causing the company to have to pay out refunds, and then ditching town before a match years in the making that's one of the biggest selling points of the PPV. I mean both MJF and Sasha/Naomi are unprofessional as hell about this. Also the six pack challenge was advertised at the start of the show, and Fightful's latest report on Sasha/Naomi mentioned they left pretty much right after that match was advertised. Nah, a more comparable situation for them would be if they actually decided to go with their title matches at the PPV, go through the entire build, and then left the day before out of nowhere. I’m not saying there isn’t a similarity, but this MJF thing is WAY worse.

Bryan Alvarez just tweeted that the Samoa Joe thing seems to have just been a communication issue. Not a proper no show. You think AEW could hire one translator who speaks Samoan and knows how to convert Island Time to Mountain Time.

If the match doesn’t happen, then MJF would have screwed Wardlow loyally. If I were Wardlow I’d want to beat his ass legit for pulling that shit. Hopefully cooler heads prevail and the match happens.

Wow I look away for a couple of hours and flights are booked out of LV.
Have to imagine this is about much more than just MJF wanting more money. Seems like there’s some type of legitimate personal beef between him and Khan for things to get this far.
Hopefully he stays and puts Wardlow over and then Tony can release MJF if he wants.

Frankly I'm not ruling out the possibility this is the entire point. That he's pulling this shit now to play the hardest hardball over "give me more money with no strings attached" and holding the program hostage at the very last minute with the idea that if Tony doesn't want to mess up a long-term build to make his new star he's going to have to pony up the cash.

If he's doing that, if I was Tony I'd just release him immediately and wish him luck in WWE.

MJF pulling Ultimate Warrior contract negotiations is not something I would have ever expected until today.
