I keep my same stance on it as I had when MJF was doing it, I don't like that "lemme always be a heel even in person" shit. Not even Corbin of all people is like that anymore. I mean, in Corbin’s (slight) defense, he’d still be that way if he didn’t bite himself in the ass with the tweet to the marine. That was basically the end for that aspect of him.

Yep, there comes a time when they realize that nah maybe they need to turn it off. Corbin was smart.

I don't get the people who are saying this is a work. There's being a heel and then there's screwing fans out of their money they paid to meet you at a meet and greet. The irony is a lot of people loved MJF acting this way even when he was insulting people, all because "it's part of wrestling." Now however there's backlash. I keep my same stance on it as I had when MJF was doing it, I don't like that "lemme always be a heel even in person" shit. Not even Corbin of all people is like that anymore. Agreed, he has been pushing this envelope for a good min and people ate it up until they didn't anymore because he is doing stuff they don't like If this is indeed a work, keep the same energy about him f***ing himself over. If he is indeed being an ass, it was only a matter of time. At some point you have to turn off the character and he's blurred the line so hard it is hard to determine what is what

If he somehow ends up being "ok" with AEW after this then surely some things will change. Like, this thread is a weird one because even in other contract threads we got people saying "this is a work" but in this case yeah we see that...but it's also about MJF who's entire character is always blurring that line and you can't even tell if what he did is "good or bad" because people don't know if he's in character or not. Shit's just weird. I hate this part of wrestling lol. Like bruh, just let us know what's real and what isn't lol.

Has MJF really kept the heel persona out of the ring? I know he stays in character for podcast interviews but if he’s staying in character during normal everyday life then dude has issues.

To my knowledge it's just interviews and conventions and stuff. If he's there as MJF, Professional Wrestler, and fans are consuming it in some way, he will stick in character. I don't think he's doing this thing in everyday life at all.

And that makes me think, whenever I hear about someone method acting it's always a bad story. I've never heard of a good one.

If it is a work and him and AEW agreed to this, they both deserve the hate that will come from this because this is going to far in trying to work the fans. Plus it would just look low rent copying the Sasha and Naomi walk out If he just upped and left then he is just as unprofessional as Sasha and Naomi and people can't be mad if he gets hate. However, this is a business for yourself and if you are unhappy, leave. But yeah this is dumb all around. I didn't read the thread but you would expect a statement from AEW (if they did release one) about why he didn't show up or an apology.

You think in the history of cinema at least one dickhead method actor would have played a really nice, sweet character and we’d hear about how wonderful they were on set. Brings in an ice cream truck during a break and has everybody order whatever they want he pays for it. “Nah, he’s a dick IRL. He’s just in character.”

With MJF you always have to wonder if he is working or not.
That being said, legit Tony could just say you have a contract till this date, and you aren't getting out till this date if he really wanted to.

No matter what line of work you're in, if you're unhappy, leave.
Hopefully, this situation gets sorted out in time for the PPV, if not well, at least it will be interesting to see how they try to salvage the situation...

I do think if MJF is indeed going to miss the PPV then AEW needs to be forthcoming about that ASAP. Waiting around to disclose that during the show itself would be very scummy.

Meltzer posted audio where him, Alvarez, and Zarian all agree that no showing the signing gives WWE no pause on MJF. They still want him full stop. That's full on speculation though, like this is such a volatile situation it's real easy to say "Oh WWE wouldn't have any issue with that", like... we know how Vince is, you can't really confirm anything these days

They're probably either trying to get MJF to not leave or see if he gets on the plane himself before they start issuing statements, I do think if MJF leaves they will though, like they'd have to.

The AEW Instagram just advertised the match about two hours ago. So they're either feeling confident he's not leaving or are really stupid.
