I do think if MJF is indeed going to miss the PPV then AEW needs to be forthcoming about that ASAP. Waiting around to disclose that during the show itself would be very scummy. The AEW Instagram just advertised the match about two hours ago. So they're either feeling confident he's not leaving or are really stupid. Again, that stuff is all automated because that’s how companies do these things so not really sure how much we should take that as anything. |

Listening to Meltzer and Alvarez and they’re throwing out different scenarios and here’s one:
Wardlow is going to be massively over tomorrow because people view him as an aggrieved party, so you throw him into Hangman/Punk as a three-way and put the belt on him.
I don’t hate it.

Honestly, I’m 80/20 that it’s not a work because it all feels harmful enough to the company itself for it to not make logical sense as a hit.
I mean, the only way to tell with WWE if something is a work is if they hype about it (or in Charlotte/Becky’s case, spin the hell out of it) and the only way to know it isn’t is if they whine about it (Sasha/Naomi).

I have been impressed with AEW's attempts at hinting at the real world while in kayfabe (Page hinting the locker room is uninterested in Punk as a leader, Kingstons distaste for big time Charlies like Jericho, MJF using being the victim of IRL anti-semitic bullying to trick Punk ect) so if this is some Dixie style working the marks shit with MJF coming through the crowd to blindside Wardlow tomorrow then I will lose a lot of respect for Tony Khan (who I usually give more of a free pass to than Vince due to his inexperience).

This would be the dumbest work of all time. Putting one of your biggest PPV matches in jeopardy would cost the company a fair bit of money (not to mention the people that paid for the signing). There are gonna be folks that really question buying the show, or even ask for a refund, just because this match might not happen. There's no benefit to this being a work other than...I don't know, twisted pleasure from getting one over on people?
