So 20 pages worth of engagement in 12 hours on one message board is bullshit No, wasting the time and getting up the hopes of a bunch of people waiting in line for a meet-and-greet, as well as putting needless work on people trying to report on the story, in addition to leaving one of the biggest matches on your PPV in limbo the day beforehand is bullshit. The show's tomorrow, unless it's due to some outside factor like an injury, an illness, or weather there shouldn't be any uncertainty as to whether the second biggest match on the card you're expected to pay $50 for, that probably is part of what sold a good chunk of the tickets for the show,, that's been built up for literally years, is actually going to f***ing happen. Do you understand the MJF gimmick? Abandoning a match like this is the most MJF shit imaginable, and if anyone wants a refund because they only bought a $50 show for what was being built as a squadh match they should be allowed to get it. If you pay for an MJF meet and greet, you're signing up to he abused so either you're okay with a full refund, you are okay with seeing someone else, or you're totally cool with spending money to get treated like an asshole and then you get upset with being treated like an asshole

Sapp basically said on stream the odds of the match happening as is at 50/50.

If it’s a work, I’ll honestly lose a lot of interest with the product. This bullshit level of working the fans is something I don’t want in a product I’m watching. So 20 pages worth of engagement in 12 hours on one message board is bullshit You don't get this many pages in this few hours on a message board by telling a captivating story. The "CM Punk is back in AEW" thread ended on page 20 and that was massive. Discussing the merits of walking a contract and speculation on if it's a work are not good engagement. Actually, honestly, if there's a large contingent of people going 'I wonder if this is real" then you've honestly failed at telling a story. Even an immersive one. If people are getting pulled out of your story and starting to make judgments about the real life people behind them then that absolutely is not good engagement, that's a problem, and if people who dont want to get jerked around with line-blurring worked shoots find out they got jerked around with line-blurring worked shoots, it's going to further put distance between them and the product, not enrich the experience further. And call me a traditionalist, but the story you tlel should aim to make consuming your product more enjoyable or interesting in some way, not push people away.

SRS saying based on when the flight was booked MJF missing the meet and greet would not have been an accident. Reiterates the flight was not delayed and in fact left early.

Vince has voided contracts due to people not making previously contracted dates. MJF had to be the dumbest motherf***er alive if he thinks that abandoning the biggest match he's ever had is a good idea. Wardlow is already over enough to be handed the TNT Title yesterday.

Honestly, the weirdest thing about all this is how little we know about what’s going through MJF’s head in all this. Not mentally or anything but just in motivation of contract or wanting a move. This isn’t me wanting justification or to choose a side but with Sasha/Naomi, we at least have a story of what happened and what lead to a walkout (even if the finer details are up in the air). With this? It was about money until it wasn’t, it was about booking until it wasn’t.
Like, again, I don’t want to be trying to set the battlelines or anything or justify it but that’s the thing that feels like we’d get some sources on by now?

MJF's entire character is built around blurring the line between shoot and kayfabe. His public appearances are works, he had a public comeuppance on Wednesday that mirrored a previous fued with someone now in WWE, DoN is overloaded with matches, and he's been allowed to play up contract issues on TV. This is clearly a work that is within the boundaries set by AEW, I'll bet anything on it.

So 20 pages worth of engagement in 12 hours on one message board is bullshit I’ve been watching wrestling since 1995, and to me it is bullshit. This is the Vince Russo level of BS I’ve never liked in a show I watch. You’re more than welcomed to gush over the fact that a company advertised a talent for a meet and greet and then pulled him out because it’s so “meta”.

The entire point of working is to draw money. He drew the money and they in this line of thinking f***ed that whole situation over. In no way is this not complete dumbass bullshit. He's been a top level heel without doing this, and this adds nothing to his storyline.

So in the likelihood this was legit, hopefully, this means cooler heads prevailed and the match goes as planned. That said, there needs to be some sort of consequence on ditching the meet and greet because that's pretty shitty.
If this entire thing was an elaborate work (which I personally doubt), that's some WCW 2000 shit right there.
