Also rumors swirling Michael Thomas is going to be cut, he tweeted and deleted that the Saints medical and training staff is ass. It’s unfortunate, but he’s been nothing but a cap liability for a cap-strapped team for mostly 2 seasons now. If the Saints were willing to eat much of his contract, someone would trade for him hoping that he both returns to form and improves his attitude in a new city. Unfortunately for the Saints, I doubt they can afford to swing such a deal.

He's been f***ed for 2 years, they can't really afford to keep that contract going He will be a decent buy low candidate hoping he can stay healthy. Crazy how things can go left so fast for talent like him and Julio Jones who were dominant and then just fell off

If nothing else, this is amusing. Back in December Klayton Adams quit as the Colts TE coach to join the staff at Stanford. He just quit his new job as OL coach with the Cardinals to be the OL coach with the Cardinals (the NFL variety, of course).

In re: Jones looking for a big payday. If that's what he's looking for, then the Giants are best suited to in a different direction.
I might have (lol) mentioned before that for the Giants to even be considered an average football team, they need players that they have to improve dramatically and upgrade throughout the roster, particularly their defense. At this critical time where both of their main offensive producers are hitting free agency and the results they yielded aren't championship caliber, then it's time to hit the reset button and let both Jones and Barkley walk. I'm certain that Jones can grow into a franchise-caliber QB elsewhere, but when you're lacking offensive playmakers and interior offensive line play like the Giants do, him signing for think of cash is basically handcuffing the Giants from making necessary improvements. Andrew Thomas and Dexter Lawrence are a couple of clicks away from hitting the open market, and need to be kept in Blue. The Bills could seriously use Barkley's services to turn their team into a monster, but I'm fairly certain they have cap constraints.
Next thing is the fact that they weren't beating their in-divisional rivals with Jones or Barkley. The Eagles whip the Giants asses without breaking a sweat, and the Cowboys maul them physically year in and year out. The Giants aren't going to the playoffs with a 1-4-1 record against divisional opponents. They have to find a way to stop teams from running all over them. With no AFC South or NFC South opponents to be found, the chances are pretty high that the Giants would backslide into utter mediocrity even with Jones and Barkley back in the saddle.
So S-Chrome says grab Mike White from the Jets, let Jones and Barkley walk, draft an ILB or CB in the first round and then go with a combo of WRs, Interior O-Linemen, MLB, RB with those compensatory picks, switch back to a 4-3 defense, and get a medical staff worth a damn. Embrace the suck knowing that it was a possibility from the get-go. Is it too early to stake their claim in the Arch Manning sweepstakes?

If the Saints were willing to eat much of his contract, someone would trade for him hoping that he both returns to form and improves his attitude in a new city. Unfortunately for the Saints, I doubt they can afford to swing such a deal. According to Spotrac, if the Saints cut or trade Michael Thomas before June 1, they'd have to eat $26.1 million in dead cap money. If they move him after June 1, that number goes down to a more palatable $11.9 million in 2023 but also $14.1 million in 2024. Also, the Saints are about $55 million over the projected cap for 2023. They're between a rock and a hard place with Thomas. He's played only 10 games over the past three seasons and he's entering his age-30 season. It's not just hard for the Saints to justify his salary, it would be hard for any team to justify it. Their best-case scenario, considering their ghastly cap situation and the fact that they probably won't be very good in 2023, might be just to rip off the Band-Aid now and cut Thomas before June 1.

If you look at his injury history he’s injured almost every pay of his right leg from his hip to his toe. There’s an obscene amount of talent there but he’s too injured to be a permanent number one. A team like KC or LA could utilize him when needed seem like the most decent options

In a move that I do not understand, the Colts are allowing the Browns to interview Bubba Ventrone for their freshly opened ST coordinator position. I get why the Browns want to potentially hire him as the Colts ST play under Ventrone was still stellar even this past season. I just don’t get why the Colts would risk losing him prematurely (Ventrone will probably eventually be a HC for someone and definitely should have been the Colts’ interim coach this past season(.
I don’t even get why Ventrone would want to leave the Colts for a lateral move. Staying with the Colts means continuing to work with the same personnel that makes him a legit HC candidate. The Browns, however, are a mess. Not only that, they play outside, something that can severely impact the play of special teams, making it less likely to earn that coveted promotion with another team.

The Titans cut Taylor Lewan, Robert Woods, and Zach Cunningham....looks like a team tearing it down. With an aging QB and a RB that likely is coming to the end Mike Vrabel may not survive this.
Lotta bad decisions there though, blown some drafts, traded AJ Brown while keeping a RB..just not savvy moves and their door is closed.

They’re probably going to try to trade both Henry and Tannehill, though the latter will be a harder sell. Someone might trade a Day 3 for him, I guess.

I’m not sure what teams would be willing to give up for Derrick Henry either. I think that he’s still got some good seasons left in the tank, but you never know with RBs and don’t want to give up too much in the event that he breaks down on you. He’s got roughly 2500 carries between college and the NFL.

Lotta bad decisions there though, blown some drafts, traded AJ Brown while keeping a RB..just not savvy moves and their door is closed. Mike Vrabel is hardly the problem. Look at his record as head coach of the Titans (48-34, two division championships, one Conference Championship appearance) and compare that to the talent that he's had around him. He's gotten the absolute most out of teams quarterbacked by Marcus Mariota, Ryan Tannehill, Malik Willis, and Joshua Dobbs. The Titans have made some head-scratching personnel decisions, but that's not the head coach's fault. Vrabel has done the best with the roster he's been given and Tennessee would be foolish to cut ties with him after one "down season" in which he almost got a Joshua Dobbs-led team into the playoffs. I’m not sure what teams would be willing to give up for Derrick Henry either. I think that he’s still got some good seasons left in the tank, but you never know with RBs and don’t want to give up too much in the event that he breaks down on you. He’s got roughly 2500 carries between college and the NFL. Henry is entering his age-30 season, he's recorded 300-plus carries in three of the last four seasons (and was on pace for 400-plus in 2021 before getting injured), and he'll cost $16.3 million against the cap in 2023. Whatever gas he has left in the tank is going to basically hit E this coming season. I wouldn't consider parting ways with anything higher than a third-round pick for Derrick Henry.

Reports are that the Browns are hiring current Colts ST coordinator Bubba Ventrone to be assistant head coach/ST coordinator. That probably meant that the Colts couldn’t block the move if they wanted to as it technically isn’t a lateral move. Considering that the seat under Stefanski seems to be warming up, perhaps it’s not as bad a career move for Ventrone as I initially thought. I had heard that he was upset that he wasn’t made interim coach (as were A LOT of Colts fans, myself included), so angling at a different shot at an interim position makes perfect sense.
I still hate that Saturday was hired as interim coach. It should have been Ventrone.

Al thought he got tackles about as often as he scored TDs

So it’s been reported that Russell Wilson tried to get Pete Carroll and John Schneider fired prior to being traded by the team. So on top of Russell Wilson making his team mates hate him in Denver and helping get his HC fired mid season, he’s also a snake who tried to get the seahawks HC fired.
