I liked Asiasi as a prospect, not sure what happened there. And giving up on Mond already is something.Lest we forget that Chris Simms, who is arguably the worst analyst covering football on a national level, had Kellen Mond ranked ahead of Trey Lance and Justin Fields in his 2021 pre-draft rankings of quarterbacks. He also had Zach Wilson as no. 1, ahead of Trevor Lawrence, but that's probably attributable to Simms being little more than a hot-take-generating attention-seeker who is clearly warming up for his spot on "First Take" or "Undisputed." The #Vikings have waived guard Wyatt Davis. So far, three of their four third-round picks from the 2021 draft have been waived (also QB Kellen Mond and LB Chazz Surratt). What a terrible draft.

Some notable releases are already starting to trickle in ahead of the 4 p.m. roster cutdown deadline. The Bills have released tight end O.J. Howard The Vikings have waived quarterback Kellen Mond The Jets have released running back Tevin Coleman The Dolphins have cut wide receiver Preston Williams The Browns have released quarterback Josh Rosen The Buccaneers have waived wide receiver Tyler Johnson The Chiefs have cut wide receiver Josh Gordon The Patriots have released tight end Devin Asiasi - this brings to an end the Asiasi/Dalton Keene tenure. The two tight ends were each drafted in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft, and over their three seasons with the Patriots they caught a combined 5 passes for 55 yards and 1 touchdown. Just an all-time whiff by Bill Belichick. Not surprised about Coleman considering Hall and Carter are expected to be Thunder and Lightning combo

EDIT - Actually, calling Simms the worst analyst covering football on a national level is really unfair to Dan Orlovsky. It's a neck-and-neck race to the bottom between those two. Simms thinks JimmG is basically football Jesus.

I'm very much looking forward to the day when society finally gathers up enough courage to admit that Kyle Shanahan is a woefully overrated coach.
For being this supposed genius offensive guru who has revolutionized the game, do you know what his head coaching record is? 39-42. His .481 career winning percentage over five seasons puts him in the same company as luminaries such as Rex Ryan (.480) and Norv Turner (.483).

Alex Leatherwood, waived. And it’s reported that the raiders contacted the 31 others teams and got 31 nopes. That’s not great.

I hate this fxxxing stat because it’s attatched to Jim, but when he has a quarterback who is halfway decent his record is 24-9. When he has guys like CJ Beathard, Nick Mullens, and whoever the hell they had before they traded for Jim years back (Edit; It was Brian Hoyer) it all goes to shit. Shanahan has his flaws. He sure as hell ain’t perfect. He chokes when he makes the big games. He’s stubborn and arrogant. He thinks he’s the smartest man in the room. He fixates on bad players. But I think he’ll prove to be a better than .500 coach in the playoffs more often than not. A tier below the truly really good coaches, but one you keep around for awhile until he wears out his welcome.

I noticed that Dak is currently the only QB on the Cowboys roster. That has to mean that they expect to complete a trade for a backup, because they can’t trust a decent WB to fall to them off the waiver wire. I figure that means one of the possible trades is already worked out in principle:
1) Mason Rudolph, who is better than most Steelers fans care to admit (you know, for a spot starter) 2) Sam Ehlinger, who lit up the preseason something fierce (though I’d rather keep him and trade Nick Foles) 3) Jimmy G, though that seems unlikely at that price tag

I liked Asiasi as a prospect, not sure what happened there. And giving up on Mond already is something. Hoodie can't develop rookies That’s objectively false. He unquestionably had a stretch of bad drafts from 2017 through 2020, but he’s developed rookies from low-level Division I and Division II schools into talented NFL prospects, and an undrafted free agent has made the Patriots’ roster every year since 2004 — often becoming starting NFL talents, Pro Bowlers, or All-Pros along the way (Jakobi Meyers, Gunner Olszewski, J.C. Jackson, Jonathan Jones, Adam Butler, David Andrews, Malcolm Butler).
