This just verified every single report that Trey isn’t ready. What an absolute vote of zero confidence.
Jim’s starting in a month.

I swear. If Jim so much as touches a football this season I’m throwing my fan card in the trash. Rooting for LA and Seattle and Arizona and for this franchise to miss the playoffs and for Shanahan and Lynch to be fired.

I mean as long as he doesn’t play and they just let Trey go out there and have the issues that all young QBs have it’s an ok insurance move. If they actually yank him and stick Jim G in there it’s some clown car shit though.

If they actually yank him and stick Jim G in there it’s some clown car shit though. Jim’s starting in a month. This is the biggest most blatant vote of zero-confidence in the history of sports. The man gave his farewell address. They tried to trade him to the entire NFL. They didn’t give him a playbook. They didn’t invite him to practice. They didn’t invite him to preseason games. And he’s now back And the team has cancelled practice and in-person media tomorrow so the braintrust can do a conference call. About their “back-up” QB.

So one of the reports I'm seeing about this is that the restructure actually makes Jimmy more tradeable if he waives the clause. Teams weren't biting on the 25 Million dollar tag they'd be stuck with, so they got rid of it. Will that actually mean he moves? No, but it doesn't completely mean they're keeping him or just want to lose all faith in Trey. Jimmy isn't the worst idea as a backup, but he's also burned a lot of bridges, and would be the highest paid backup, meaning he should probably go start somewhere. It's gonna boil down to if he wants to go to a team like Seattle and if Seattle wants him, which, they're starting Geno Smith, Jimmy G's an upgrade there...

What cha gonna do hashtagdaley/JudasDay when PURDYMANIA runs wild on YOU! *points* I shit you not when I say that he's the most talented QB you got on the roster, however he's very "Favre-ian" and his talent is still pretty raw. He'll have a couple throws that will blow your mind like "how the hell did he pull that out his ass?" when he's running around the field like a chicken with it's head cut off. Then he'll toss a bad interception that even a mediocre high school QB wouldn't have done. Give that dude 2 years with a legit professional QB staff and he won't be Mr Irrelevant.

Handsome and shrewd, is there anything Jimmy can't do? I hate this guy more than any other guy that’s ever been on my teams. And that includes Marvin Bagley. And the entire fanbase and team and front office adores him. I don’t fxxxing get it.

Some notable releases are already starting to trickle in ahead of the 4 p.m. roster cutdown deadline.
The Bills have released tight end O.J. Howard
The Vikings have waived quarterback Kellen Mond
The Jets have released running back Tevin Coleman
The Dolphins have cut wide receiver Preston Williams
The Browns have released quarterback Josh Rosen
The Buccaneers have waived wide receiver Tyler Johnson
The Chiefs have cut wide receiver Josh Gordon
The Patriots have released tight end Devin Asiasi - this brings to an end the Asiasi/Dalton Keene tenure. The two tight ends were each drafted in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft, and over their three seasons with the Patriots they caught a combined 5 passes for 55 yards and 1 touchdown. Just an all-time whiff by Bill Belichick.

I liked Asiasi as a prospect, not sure what happened there. And giving up on Mond already is something.Lest we forget that Chris Simms, who is arguably the worst analyst covering football on a national level, had Kellen Mond ranked ahead of Trey Lance and Justin Fields in his 2021 pre-draft rankings of quarterbacks. He also had Zach Wilson as no. 1, ahead of Trevor Lawrence, but that's probably attributable to Simms being little more than a hot-take-generating attention-seeker who is clearly warming up for his spot on "First Take" or "Undisputed." EDIT - Actually, calling Simms the worst analyst covering football on a national level is really unfair to Dan Orlovsky. It's a neck-and-neck race to the bottom between those two.
