I really can't help but read that as "They don't know how to silence their conscience as well as I do to squeeze more cents out of our stock price" It's almost like Vince's legal (and moral) obligations are to the stockholders and not to prop up his own family. Not gonna defend anything the McMahon family has ever done but to act like this isn't actually the right thing to do in terms of running a company is absurd They've been a publicly traded company for about 23 years now. Having family on the payroll or not was never about obligations to stakeholders.

Not gonna defend anything the McMahon family has ever done but to act like this isn't actually the right thing to do in terms of running a company is absurd The stock traded publicly on the NYSE carries no voting weight. The only voting stock is mostly in the hands of the McMahon and Levesque families. If Vince is thinking of a decision's impact on stock price, either he's looking to sell the company, or there's an issue with the company that's drawing unwanted attention. That's exactly my point though. You can't complain about nepotism but be upset that Vince runs the company like any other publicly traded company.

Who had Shane and Steph gone and a Stone Cold WrestleMania main event in their 2022 bingo? I did. And I won a lifetime supply of Stacker X and Lugz Boots.

This is fascinating. Does anyone here think that Stephanie and Paul will ever start their own promotion to challenge Vince? No. Paul's in his 50s and has a pacemaker and Steph's not super young anymore, either. If they find themselves on the outs with WWE, I think it means their day-to-day lives in wrestling are over. Could I see a world where Paul makes appearances for NWA or indies one day? Maybe? That's one of the scenarios I play out in my head that seems less crazy than others, but it's still a stretch. Triple H should retire and enjoy his money and health

It was taken away after it was sabotaged and his FIL decided he didnt like it. Now it is obvious his FIL would rather sell off the company than let it be run someone elses way. So the best thing is to just walk away and enjoy all the money.

The parallels to succession are fascinating, Steph and Shiv have so many similarities (but Steph presumably has a better marriage).
Big difference is Vince and Logan's approach to pushing Roman.

Not to mention that knowing Vince/WWE contracts they would likely have a lifetime no compete clause written in there Yeah that isn't happening. A contract preventing someone from earning a living in their industry is only legal against people who cannot afford a lawyer. Non-compete’s are legal, but limited in scope. You’d never be able to enforce a lifetime one, but a big wig at Coke wouldn’t be able to quit and start at Pepsi the next day but they could go become an executive at McDonald’s or something. Brock, Punk and Alberto fought WWE and won because they tried to enforce some insane restrictions on them that were completely beyond reasonable, WWE considered any sport or entertainment competition and tried to block them and basically got laughed outta court. Same with trying to block Brock from doing NJPW, the court said that can’t be considered competition because they operated exclusively in Japan at that time.

Brock even agreed to his no compete (no wrestling or mma for 10 years) because he was sure he was going to play football. And he was still able to get out of it.

In terms of how employees are treated? 1000%. But this is a conversation about nepotism, are we really going to go to bat for someone who is probably going to end up a billionaire simply because of their parents?

I meant in general, I didn't mean in this situation, no I don't feel bad for someone that is rich and has a cush job because of where she happened to be born and will always be rich. She was born on 3rd base so no I don't feel bad for her when I think about what most people have to deal with.

Now lets talk about what I think may actually be going on here. I don't think Vince thinks he's kids have the acumen to take over his business. In his eyes Shane, Steph and H have all failed. H also has serious health problems now on top of all that. While I think Prichard, Dunn and Johnny L are in Vince's ear, I don't know how much that has to do with this situation.
I think the goal now is to do everything possible to constantly inflate the profit number, inflating the stock number until they get to what they view as the apex numbers and then sell the company. Probably to Fox or NBC. I don't think Vince think's they can run the company so he's going to "give back" by making all of them filthy rich before he dies.
Even after a sale they'd all likely have figurehead positions, today you get a ton of positive PR for having a woman CEO, I could very very easily see whoever buys WWE giving Steph the public speaking role where she talks about direction and all that while never having any power on what actually happens.
Every single move they are making looks like a company that is prepping to sell at the highest price point, it's hard to not see it.

Other than the family connection, WWE has treated Steph just like they do anyone else.

Also, I don’t think they have the capital to realistically launch a major promotion. Don’t get me wrong, they’re rich but they’d have to gamble everything to have a shot at competing with AEW or WWE and they still might not have enough to launch a promotion. I don’t know this for fact, but I imagine AEW launched with $50-100 million backing them, Paul and Steph have nowhere near that sort of scratch. Their estimated net worth is $150 million, most of that being shares of the company I’m sure.
