Maybe a little late to the party here, but I only got to watch the match late last night.
Anyone, including Bret Hart, can piss right off if they EVER try to indicate that Seth Rollins isn't a ridiculously safe wrestler again.
The care he took of Cody in that match was unlike anything I've ever seen. The way he swung the weapons, always making sure to catch the back of the arm. The dropkick to the outside was delivered with pinpoint accuracy to the other side of Cody's chest. Making sure Cody was controlling how much pressure was on the kendo stick or his foot when he was grinding those in. Every single thing he did was done with such amazing care.
Seth Rollins did an absolutely amazing job of not only taking care of his seriously injured opponent, but actually turned it into an incredible, brutal looking match.
Cody deserves a massive amount of props for the guts to go out there and perform, but Seth Rollins was the real MVP of that match. It was the performance of a lifetime.

Outside of a few incidents close together, Seth has been nothing but the best, and when the buckle bomb onto the barricade caused a second injury he promptly stopped doing that shit immediately because he realized it was too risky. Since that point a few years ago, he hasn't had any further issues, and hey, in the end Sting didn't even get retired by the botched buckle bomb anyway.

I can't speak for other places, but no one here's really called him unsafe for a long time. Well his name unfairly got dropped in the the nia jax discussions about her being dangerous in the ring as some way to prove that Nia wasn’t dangerous. |

You also got to remember there was hyperbole on his name as well as Seth was not getting a ton of love after overblown comments he made

Seth straight up should be WWE Champ on RAW while Roman's Universal Champ on SD. It's a crime that he's not. He's in the top 3-5 wrestlers on the roster.

I think that idea has stuck around only because people still remember what Bret Hart kept saying about him. (Cue the Bret gif.)
Fortunately, Seth hadn't done anything major since ending Sting's career, and apparently even that wasn't permanent since Stinger now does stuff for AEW.

Here it is   Seriously though, it's been a while since I've heard people call Seth reckless so I don't think it's a highly held view of Seth and he did do good in protecting Cody as much as possible at HIAC. |

There was the time he broke Cena's nose with his knee. I suspect at the time a lot of the flack he got was that he injured Sting and Cena, two of the biggest names in the business. I'm pretty sure he took the move that injured Cena out of his repertoire immediately though. |

Based on a Sting interview afterwards it sounded like the straw that broke the camel's back. Sting was actually classy as hell and put Seth over if I recall correctly. But it seems like part of it was old man's body was done and the buckle bomb is a high impact spot where a lot can go wrong if it's not done just right. |

I'd argue Rollins absolutely was unsafe back in 2015-2016 - the dude injured Cena, Sting, and Finn in the span of a year - but he's improved a ton since then, and I don't think he can be labeled as such anymore. Especially not with the care he showed Cody (which is is definitely to be commended).

The type of injury Sting had is not something that just happens, it's built up over a long period of time. also when he badly injured someone he stopped doing the move usually. Like after Finn I don't think he did the buckle bomb to the barricade again, after smashing Cena's face he didn't do that specific knee strike, and he stopped the buckle bomb from most of his matches after Sting. |

I'd agree with the view that he did have a rough couple years, but it's thankfully been a good few years since then and he's not had a problem. I don't think it's a label you could stick fairly on him.
As a Sting mark of 29 years and counting, I didn't hold that injury against Rollins at all. I suppose my only quibble is they went for the buckle bomb a second time, pushing their luck there after the first hit hard. But still, Sting's bump card had been punched so many times by that point over his career that it was practically confetti, so it just happens. And fortunately, this farewell AEW run has happened as well.
