Ever sence the likes of CM Punk, MJF and Daniel Bryan were off TV for various reasons, and the NJPW stars taking up TV time, and yet another tournament for a new title. I’ve all but lost interest In AEW for the time being, just ain’t nonthing grabbing my attention right now so I haven’t watched. Iam guessing other had feel the same I guess

Iam guessing other had feel the same I guess I'm sure some people aren't watching for various reasons, but this was a cable wide issue and it's been expressed as such Even if a few hundred people were tuning out for this reason, it would not effect the number this much

"Weak lead-in resulting in a weaker number" is a weird-sounding excuse on paper, but there's decades' worth of evidence that strong lead-ins help with ratings on both network and cable. Just one of those quirks of television ratings. Oh i am sure it helps it's just weird all together and opens up so much room for discussion as to what really are the real number of viewers for these shows (in all of wrestling). To me it would be like if I was going to have a birthday party and the party next door was already going on and just finished up and came over cause they saw balloons outside..Then I got online and was like "LOOK AT HOW MANY PEOPLE CAME TO MY BIRTHDAY PARTY!"...Technically correct but just feels false.

To me it would be like if I was having a birthday party and the party next door was already going on and just finished up and came over cause they saw someone outside..Then I got online and was like "LOOK AT HOW MANY PEOPLE CAME TO MY BIRTHDAY PARTY!"...Technically correct but just feels false. This is why they average out the viewership though. They don't just rate Dynamite, or RAW, or Smackdown, or NXT by their highest, or lowest rated segments, they average out the viewership they got the most out of the show, consistently The lead in for a Dynamite being a 1.2 or a 1.1 leading to an average show of like 970K say, is still a good show that retained A LOT of people even with the numbers usually dropping as the show goes, for most wrestling programs, they ebb and flow usually. If a lead in is going to be substantially lower like this week, like 850K, the average being near 760K is still a good retention of viewers. The more people who tune in to start, usually helps more people stick around, in most shows case, the number will always steadily climb and fall, because of commercial breaks, stuff on in hours one or coming on in hour 2, and different things interesting and not interesting who is watching, but the lead-ins absolutely mean something to every program and it's not some false shield, it just means more consistent viewership, and that's consistent viewership that does more than often stick around when they're there, which means something for the overall show.

I think it has more to do with hockey and the lack of Punk/Danielson/MJF than it does cable having had the lowest Wednesday viewership since 2018, unless it was a glitch by Nielsen. The other top show Real Housewives actually increased viewership from the week before with the demo going down about 0.2.

Just gonna leave this here... I love how when the show does awesome, it barely gets any replies but when it's a not-so-good week for Dynamite, these threads are 3 or 4 pages long. That was in last week's viewership thread 🤣
