This was apparently in the works three weeks ago, so I’m not sure this is exactly Brock being used as a distraction from Vince. It seems this was in the works before WWE even knew the WSJ story was coming. That said, it’s a tired, tired match. If they just built anybody up as a legit threat, they wouldn’t have to go to this well. My guess is Rollins is about to steal the WWE Title back and bring it to RAW and so they don’t want to feed Lashley or any other slightly believable babyface to Reigns. The key thing is Orton being injured more than the WSJ story. He was the guy pencilled in for this match, I believe.

I was listing potential Summerslam challengers for Roman a day or two ago and only included Brock ironically thinking even WWE wouldn't main event another major show with that match. I underestimated them.
Roman has beaten Brock 3 times in a row in world title matches. It’s ridiculous to have someone like Brock lose to anyone 4 times in a row but the alternative is Brock winning and being the person to end this historic Roman title run and I don’t think that’s a good decision either.
How difficult is it just to put them in different matches. I’m almost certain at this point that Brock and Roman simply being advertised for the PPV is a bigger selling point than them specifically facing each other. You could have done like Roman v Lashley and Brock v Drew. We never got Brock/Drew in front of fans and it would make sense as a no.1 contender match. Hell, do Brock/Cena in a big attraction match. They haven't faced each other in years and it would probably do good business. Roman v Riddle at the PPV instead of on TV and Brock v Lashley who have unfinished business from earlier this year. Almost anything would have been better than going back to the Roman/Brock well.

I understood the interest the last time around, with Heyman being with Roman now. But I'm sick of this tired ass feud personally. Yep, stopped caring for it a long time ago. Only reason I was remotely interested in it last time was because of Roman/Heyman instead of Brock/Heyman but that's done now. Ah well.

That was just isolated to the background of one Summer. This is over 8 years of this happening over and over and over and over again And them having the SAME match. Yep. Multiple spears, multiple suplexes, multiple ''superman'' punch (hate that punch lmao), kick outs of finishers, something to do with Heyman, probably a bit of blood and then either outside interference, or a pin after however many kick outs

Also who the heck wants to see Brock as Champ again? And they keep teasing it. It’s like more padding for Roman’s Reign (pardon the pun). I want Roman taking on Challengers who I WANT to see dethrone him not the same match we’ve seen for 7 years now.
This will be the 3rd time they’ve faced at Summerslam right? If you count the fatal 4 way with Strowman & Joe. 3 times at Mania as well. It sucked arse the last 2 times at Mania. It sucked arse at Summerslam last time. Just never f***ing ends. And you bet your sweet arse they will do it in Saudi again for a 3rd time.

I mean there's no way Brock is winning, right? If Roman loses any time soon it'll be to Drew in the UK.

This is rough. They have to one, drag it till Summerslam with now the champion and the challenger sporadically appearing for months, but there's literally nothing more these two can do together
I concede the build to the Mania match was for the most part fun and entertaining, but the match itself? Absolute dogshit, it was a complete mess and literally spelled out how burnt out these two are together. Finisher spam and then it's over, that's it. That's what this Last Man Standing Match will be with some weapons. And given Roman's last Last Man Standing? Not really enthused about that stipulation either.
I get the situation they're in, I do, but when I talked about them being in a tough roster spot and that was their fault because they've built Roman up so hard that no one is a credible threat to him that they have to keep bringing Brock back on diminishing returns... to ALSO keep losing to him, it's a failing strategy, and it's really worn out its welcome long ago.

Brock's return video is already at 2.5 million views on youtube(including WWE's and Fox's version) in less than 24 hours. He's a draw and people are still going to tune in for this feud.

How did WWE revive Moses and Wilfred Brimley to main event Summerslam?

I'm fine with Brock being back because I've been loving his babyface work, but I'm pretty sure he hasn't been in a non-title program since 2016.

I like Brock but he doesn't need to be involved in a title program to get people interested in seeing him. Unless it's in his contract maybe?

If you're going to beat Lesnar at SummerSlam, just have it be like...murder. Flip the script on Lesnar - let him finally be the one to get dominated. How does he respond to that? Where do they go from there? At least that's a new story instead of Roman spears Brock 6 times over 15 minutes and wins.

who wants to see Brock vs. Roman 657? no match has been more exhausted than this one has... John Cena vs. Randy Orton is fresher than it since at least that hasn't happened since like 2013? Hell Ziggler vs. Kofi feels fresher and they were in a race to see who could win best of 1000 at one point... The Jimmy Valiant vs Paul Jones feud feels fresher
