1. It's good for AEW that their TV partner is promoting them. 2. Using the bump from last week's blip which we were informed was due to a power outage is a bit disingenuous but nothing outside the ordinary when it comes to marketing practices 😂

If Warner is happy with what they are doing.... anything we say is meaningless.

The one week I got pissy in one of these threads about people saying the ratings were bad almost nobody did and I looked like an asshole
But it does seem to happen every week
No wonder the mods hate this subforum

I feel they shouldve considered adding 1 more match to fill tv time better.

It feels like they put out the press releases almost every episode of Dynamite yet we still have 4 and 5 page threads every week about how they're in jeopardy. Not to mention Disco over on K100 and the litany of other people who just talk about how AEW is going to fail because they didn't get 6 million people to watch their show like they did in the late 90's. 🙄 AEW is beyond safe. It's getting old.

The one week I got pissy in one of these threads about people saying the ratings were bad almost nobody did and I looked like an asshole But it does seem to happen every week No wonder the mods hate this subforum I've made this argument before, but I think for too many people it's that they've gotten a bad case of "American Pro Wrestling" brain since the 90s. Like, for those of us of a certain age we did grow up in a time when it genuinely felt like things like ratings or various booking decisions could literally kill a company. No, bad booking didn't actually kill WCW or ECW, TNA and ROH never technically died, etc., but there's a bunch of people out there who I think view and critique pro wrestling on a basis of "if you don't do things EXACTLY RIGHT, this promotion won't be around much longer!" It's why you see people basing whether they liked some shows on a scale that includes things like "how would a casual fan think about this segment?" and it's like, dude, you're not a casual fan, let the company and the casual fans worry about that. It gives us things like "this show sucks because the wrong person won this match", or "they're putting so-and-so in this quarterly segment and it's bad for business!", and while those can be perfectly interesting things to talk about in isolation and in a conversational manner, some folks try to turn them into blaring sirens that we should care about beyond discussing our own personal enjoyment of the show or beyond just being compelling topics of discussion. To be clear, I don't think most people take things to that extent, but it doesn't change that it feels like there's often an undercurrent of it even in conversation that doesn't go that far. Some people are just too scarred from the experience of following pro wrestling in this country for awhile, I guess.

We just had a thread not too long ago of Meltzer saying AEW was in jeopardy and everyone was up in arms when Dynamite did 800k or whatever it was the other week. People might not be using the exact same words I said but the implication is the same. You know what I meant, dude.

Saying the company is dying is hyperbolic, but that doesn’t mean any discussion when ratings go down a bit should be shut down in the same way as those that are claiming that the company is in jeopardy. There are levels to criticism/non-positive discussion.

Just to add, Meltzer didnt say them company was in Jeopardy but he added it as the worst case scenario so people had to jump towards that one, but that in itself is a whole other issue

People are reading things that don't exist, or bringing attitudes from other platforms to this board. It's bizarre.

Well not sure if it helps the discussion at all ,but gonna add that WarnerBros was touting Dynamite's Rating Success. I've been watching wrestling long enough to spot an incoming heel turn/swerve First the President of Warner is going to pat Tony Kahn on the back and tell him what a good job he's doing, and then he's going to Super Kick him through a barbershop window and say the show is cancelled!

Warner President towards Shad Khan: He is going to be running the Jags out of a wheelchair, your son is a piece of shit, you raised a piece of shit!
