To me, Shawn was doing what the previous generation did before him. There’s famous stories of what the Bulldogs did to people both backstage and on the road, which made them extremely hard to work with. Everything I hear about the Dynamite Kid and British Bulldog makes me hate them more. From spiking the Ultimate Warrior with drugs and letting him drive to getting into fights with people backstage to maintain some kind of dominance over the locker room.
Hogan and Shawn are the easy answers here but to me the Bulldogs paved the way for how the clique acted backstage

I think JBL and Bill DeMott get joint first place for literally causing pain in people's asses.

Warrior absolutely has to be on the list, JR regularly cites him when asked about difficult workers to deal with (along with mid-90s Shawn). Mil Mascaras I'd support too, doesn't Mick Foley have a strong dislike for him? That should tell you everything really! Foley and Jericho both found Mil very selfish. Foley's situation was made worse by him having to put over Mil on a random WCW PPV for frankly no goddamn reason. Mil was a big deal in this region, yes, but then just have it be a dark match, or have a jobber put him over, not someone who was being given some level of push. Foley even asked if he could kick out at least once after taking a big planned bump off of the apron and was told, "This match isn't about you." Lest you be confused into thinking WCW was run worth a shit before Eric or Russo were calling the shot, they were always just... like this. Cornette defended having Foley in the match, as he was part of the booking committee, and told Foley that rather than it being punishment, it was due to the belief that Foley was one of the only ones who could make the most of the match that the booking committee wasn't terribly thrilled about, either. I can buy that maybe Mascaras explicitly wanted no kickouts in the match, but I doubt that part is excused. Doesn't explain why they didn't just TELL him that, but maybe working the boys by keeping everyone in the dark for no apparent reason was also an early tradition. JBL once called Mil, a selfish bastard, on commentary. Jericho in a segment with ADR, both as heels, to him "You know I hate your family!" since Del Rio is Mil's nephew.

I really don't think we're giving Low Ki his just dues here. This is a man who: - Refused to job to Claudio Castagnoli in PWG because it "wasn't realistic". Low Ki is 5'6", 160 pounds and Claudio is a human horse.
- Wrestled in a featured title match on a January 4th Tokyo Dome show wearing a cosplay of Agent 99 from Hitman. Hitman is published by one of Bushiroad's biggest business rivals, Ki hid backstage until right before the bell so no one would see what he was doing, and when he was told that it was his last strike said that they had to let him wear it because he was worried about nuclear fallout from Fukushima, despite that not making any sense in any way.
- Walked out on WWE after his first main roster match was an IC Title match because he didn't win the title in his first main roster match.
- Threatened to walk out on indy shows that he was main eventing mid-show unless he was going to win, despite previously agreeing to lose.
- Purposefully tried to knock out opponents if he thought it would help him get heat. Including in the main event of a PPV immediately after the bell rung.
- Cancelled bookings in areas with mask mandates because he claimed the mask would harm his respiration. The man was one of the first in the industry to work out while wearing a mask to improve his cardio.
- Turned down a main event spot in MLW because he demanded that they pay for an 8-week fight camp.
- Had to be carried out of the ring by security like a child because he refused to continue the match unless he was allowed to get his shit in after botching multiple times.
I was randomly thinking about that last one a couple days ago, and the picture posted on here from the event. I love it. I've never seen a single picture sum up someone's reputation better

I believe it was a Clash of the Champions Foley wrestled him. Day of the show…no Mils. Foley gets excited because they change his match, to him going over a guy who I don’t recall….then Mils shows up. Decided he didn’t feel being on time, so he took a later flight.

And yet Bob Holly was one of the "respected" veterans backstage for showing the newcomers the type of "respect" that was required for a WWF/WWE wrestler.

Does Kevin Dunn count or because he’s mostly in the production truck he’s not backstage

Dynamite Kid sounds like he has to be a contender.
Endless stream of brutal "ribs" that are really just torture, perpetrated by a guy who could legitimately f*** you up if you stood up for yourself.
At least Shawn was apparently a total wuss when confronted.

I think the training camp was actually him ripping off GCW. Think they had him v. Riddle booked for one of the Bloodsport events, and after accepting the booking and a deposit Ki said he needed a training camp for a fake fight. Then when the company rightfully called him on his bullshit and booked Suzuki instead, Ki put out a lengthy video about why he needed the camp.

Can we get Mil "NO YOB" Mascaras on the list too? If we're gonna bring in Lucha into this the first ones I'd bring up are the Brazos. Don't like that Ultimo Guerrero was named the new head of the union instead of one of your brothers? Film yourselves smashing his sports car 🤦🏼♀️

The full story to go with that image, it's hysterical. And apparently the Agent 99 thing was a "silent protest" regarding wrestling in Fukushima.

You're right, they used this as a storyline in MLW and I mixed the two up
