I really have no idea how any female wrestler is on Twitter. The fan base is frightening. Seriously. Like, it can definitely be a powerful tool for promotion, but even ones who are good at leveraging it for their careers like Jordynne Grace still often end up having to take time away from it when abuse gets too bad. Jim Ross retweets an account called WWE Porn way, way, way more than you’d suspect. It’s just Attitude Era and slightly after, Divas in “sexy” moments. I love giving one of my buddies a hard time about Sasha Banks. So I wanted to text him some pics of her losing matches. Found page after page after page of “Sasha Banks unconscious”, her just selling…but that’s how all these pics from PinTrest or some shit were tagged.

I think more and more, we're going to end up with media managers running Twitter profiles purely for promotional stuff, which I think unfortunately is how you have to do it. People can't be trusted with this kind of access to celebrities.

Social media sucks. Twitter most of all. Yeah, I have long felt that everyone should avoid social media unless you’re monetizing it (business, brand, etc). Unfortunately wrestlers fit into the “brand” category so being accessible will likely help them, but social media as a whole is just an awful place for mental health. It gives cowards a voice, and there’s no upside in that.

Sad to see there remains a section that has learned nothing from what happened to Hannah.
Hope Shotzi will be able to just leave this shit behind and move forward because while her in ring abilities are divisive amongst fans she is still very much beloved and people want to see her succeed.

Social Media can be fun, I use it a lot, but you always run into those pockets of people who don't give a shit, and essentially live to take others down, because their lives are just that miserable, they need to try and make everyone else miserable around them. They see it as a badge of honor, and they have no remorse, it's sickening
It's not just wrestling, but wrestling's fandom has a very toxic fanbase section, so this doesn't shock me. I just hope Shotzi's ok, whether she comes back or not, take a mental health break.

Shout into the void by all means (within reason) but I just don't get why so many feel the need to tag/@(/whatever it's called) the person they're critisising. I can't tell if they're just mean or don't know how twitter works. Or maybe I don't get how it works. Stupid twitter. That’s my take from my limited experience with Twitter. People who type things like “Shotzi is having an off night” or something perfectly reasonable like that, tend not to tag the account of that person they’re criticising. The ones who want to type toxic and hurtful comments nearly always tag that person specifically. Yeah Plenty of wrestlers vanity search themselves anyway, and that really is on them I once got a like from Austin Aries for saying something insulting about him, no tag

Yeah I noticed how female wrestlers get way harsher criticism then makes do on Twitter for botching A woman botches or is sloppy in a match, they're terrible and shouldn't have a job. Somebody like Punk botches in a match, that's just realistic and storytelling.

I really have no idea how any female wrestler is on Twitter. The fan base is frightening. Yeah I noticed how female wrestlers get way harsher criticism then males do on Twitter for botching The insane contrasting pressures put on women in a patriarchal society are enough to drive anyone who has to put up with them insane. On the one hand you have the assholes who decide that they’re going to tear into women’s wrestling and the women themselves because they’re either rank misogynists or think they can grow an audience by acting like one. On the other you have the “stans” who treat the women they’re fans of like divine idols of worship, which leads to all kinds of creepy behavior from simple “white knighting” to full on stalking. Often, the two seemingly overlap, contradictory as that might seem. It’s the “Madonna and Whore” demand on a different scale: you’re pressured to be everything to everyone, which just isn’t feasible, and you’re facing toxicity from one end of the spectrum and, well, toxicity disguised as love from the other. Maddening. ETA: seeing what Shotzi posted on Instagram, I’m suddenly reminded that I’m pretty sure she lost her stepfather, whom she sounded really close with, this last year. Girl has been putting up with a lot.

Girl has been putting up with a lot. She did. Also last year, she helped Brandi Lauren move into her new place, and Brandi got fired right after. So, a close friend of hers got fired, that's gonna hurt.

No, yeah, she was absolutely close with her (biological) dad; if you watched the last season of Tough Enough, there was this beautiful scene after tryouts where she calls him after learning she made the cut. She also missed a few months with a back injury earlier this year. It's been a rough 2022 for our girl

In this "fandom", it feels that the women(or at those that aren't favored) gets much worse criticism than men do. Shit like this does make me ashamed of being a fan honestly.

Timothy Thatcher is the smartest human being in all of wrestling for not having any social media.
It’s just not worth it, at this point.

The ones who want to type toxic and hurtful comments nearly always tag that person specifically. Years ago, probably around 2010/2011 I used to do drunk TNA live reviews on Twitter and generally shit all over the product. I never tagged anyone or the company. What’s the point other then being an asshole? "Being an asshole" on Twitter makes people feel better about their own shi**y lives. I truly believe that.
