Recently I had gotten back into Ninja Turtles due to playing Shredder's Revenge. I had started watching the 2000s cartoon on Paramount+. I had also watched some episodes of the old cartoon on Dailymotion. I had watched the old movies, although the third one I could have done without. Hell, I had checked out the old Mirage comics compiled in a trade just to see how the old comics were (I plan on reading the newer IDW comics, and maybe the Archie Comics version at some point).
But here is what I want to talk about. I remember watching old episodes as a child and I often noticed that they wore clothes as disguises to blend in with society when getting a pizza or something. But a lot of the time, the disguise is a trench coat and a fedora hat. However, their face isn't concealed. Wouldn't people see something odd about someone with a green face with no nose and stuff? I know that a lot of the time the turtles keep a low profile, but it's kind of weird that the disguises didn't do much. I remembered an episode with Mikey wearing some mask to cover his face, but that was about it.
What are your thoughts?

Animals wearing people clothes makes them people. That's a fact, Jack!

Their rubber masks were so creepy that I feel like it'd be less scary to see a weird green man. I can sort of excuse it in the 1990 movie since Raph was out at night, anyway.
I imagine the real answer comes down to animation and letting them reuse facial animations more easily, plus you want to not minimize how often the Ninja Turtles were onscreen and clearly visible to channel-surfing children.

I mean the Trenchcoat and Hat has been the go to "i'm in disguise" outfit forever. I mean who could that be... it could be anyone.

the classic 80s series never took itself entirely seriously so it was part of the joke.

A question I have is, if ooze has let a rat live this long, how long might the turtles live? A rat can usually live to be about three, tops. Turtles are famed for very long lifespans, on the other hand.

In the original movie however... that's more difficult to work out >_>

I thiiiink 2012 also had Hamato Yoshi and Splinter as the same guy, so not just they '80s cartoon, yeah. *I mean... kinda. IDW sorta has it both ways, depending on how you look at it.

Also, ninjas wouldn't really use a Bo, Sai or Nunchaku, since they would need to kill quickly and quietly.

It's still not as inherently ridiculous as the handful of times in the G1 cartoon and comics that you had frickin' Transformers attempting it.

Despite what some characters like the aforementioned Raphael and MK's Mileena portraying them as tri-point daggers, Sai are blunt weapons used like a truncheon. The prongs are to catch and entangle a foe's weapon.

What’s weirder than a mutant English speaking, ninja practicing, up-right walking, Pizza loving turtle in people clothes?

This wasn't exactly stealthy like a ninja either.
