There's a great Twitter post going around pointing out that stuff like Festival of Friendship, Pipe Bomb and that insane parking lot brawl with Becky, Ronda and Charlotte all happened during the PG era. It's not about the rating, it's about what they actually do. If it's the same 3 hour show with slightly edgier stuff, it's not going to work. It actually makes me wonder if some of the riskier stuff we've seen on NXT lately has been a trial run. RAW's about to get horny. We joke but you hit the nail on the head. There's shit from the Late 70s-Early 90s that makes me wonder how that got in TV.

No reason now against the return of the Electric Chair segment. Now more electric than ever.
Seriously, i dont think this is going to change a lot of things, but maybe now some characters could start speaking like normal people.

Seriously doubt they’ll bring back things like Bra and Panties matches. Considering the current climate, they'd be unbelievably tone-deaf if they did.

Like some have said, there was a time when this would’ve been cause for celebration. But the moment has passed. I wish I could ring in the news with some Funyuns and Mountain Dew. Bu I'm almost 40, so it’s an apple, water, and fleeting interest.

This is HUGE.
Hopefully blood, risky storylines and more edgier content will return.
I think AEW is the cause of this. Their Blood and Guts match just exceeded anything WWE has put on Raw in years.
Wrestling NEEDS blood and an edge.

Toxic Attraction on their way to Raw. I don’t watch NXT so help me out here: I often read Toxic Attraction described as some stable of super sluts so what exactly are they doing? They don’t dress much more provocatively than the other women. When I read a recap of last night’s show, it didn’t read “Before her NXT Title defense, Mandy Rose banged three dudes on the way to the ring while Wade Barrett gave himself some bad news under the desk.” So where does this Toxic Attraction= Attitude Era-level sexitude come from? I mean there’s more to them that’s just that. But being “sexy” and “look how hot they are” is a very large part of their presentation for sure.

Smackdown was TV-14 when it debuted in 1999, then WWE switched it to TV-PG by the end of the year after the Parents Television Council convinced some sponsors to drop their advertising.

The reality is that most of the best stuff in company history was either shown in PG or could have been. And a lot of stuff they did that could only fly in TV-14 is stuff that has aged terribly in regards to what they did to women.

Can't wait for the promo about Cody Rhodes ending the PG Era His sperm ended racism, so I could see how the blood if his tit could end the PG era… This could possibly suck like hell for me because if the content gets too outta hand my 6 year old won’t watch again till he’s older.

I'm really curious how this will change the product in 2022 now. I've heard talk about them pushing the envelope. But we've seen them push it pretty far on NXT in terms of sexuality. We've seen them use foul language. We've seen them discuss things like death ("I wish you died in the womb") or dead wrestlers (the time Reid Flair was brought up). They've done a lot of stuff that certainly isn't kid friendly and certainly pushes the bounds of PG. Maybe it's just blood and a little more T&A? I'm sure they'd be willing to bring back blood but it would still be hilarious given how they've described AEW as recently as 7 months ago. But Vince has always been a hypocrite when it came to that stuff anyway. It's going to be interesting though. I've heard folks here and elsewhere say they like AEW but prefer WWE because it's something they feel like their kids can watch. I wonder if that will still be the case six months from now.

Probably means they’ll be more lenient with blood and language. Seriously doubt they’ll bring back things like Bra and Panties matches. I have a hard time thinking they'll ever go back to blood with the rules they have now.

Blood was not part of going PG. The 80's were considered PG and how often did like Hogan bleed?

There's been blood on the TV-PG shows. Like any time Ric Flair showed up.

Bring back the PG Era, like if you agree! You say suck it, I say acknowledge me You say blood, I say viscous, acidic liquid You say bring back Austin, I say bring back Cena You say PPV, I say PLE You say Cactus Jack, Mankind & Dude Love, I say Ezekiel, Elias & Elrod You say Hell in a Cell, I say hey, no need for that kind of language here, friend 89% of smarks have turned to tawdriness. If you’re part of the 11% that still loves real wrestling, please copy and paste this message

Great.
Doesn’t change the fact that the product still sucks. Now they just went from a bad kids show to a bad adult show.

That last bit is particularly interesting. I cannot see them A.) rushing and changing the product that much in six months and B.) jeopardizing the “family fun” aspect the product has. That being said wouldn’t be surprised if we get a curse word here or risky content there first thing on Monday.
