Over your years watching Wrestling are there any storylines where the payoff really angered you?big or small. Mine will always be Rikishi as the man who ran over Austin.i thought it was such a good build and story at the time and for it to be revealed as Rikishi was such an anticlimax to say the least. Another one that still annoys me is the Owen Hart v Sean Michaels after the screwjob.that could have been such a good programme and really could have put Owen in a top spot but it fizzled after the first ppv and that was that

I was angry at the outcome of WM12, which was a storyline given how much they hyped it as deciding who would lead the new generation. Was not a diehard fan of Bret, but hated Shawn. Hated the sudden death overtime call. Hated babyface Shawn. Hated the idea of Shawn being the new chosen one in the WWF.

The Angle/Stephanie/Hunter love triangle. One of my favorite storylines of all time until they got cold feet in the end.

Punk v HHH in 2011. I'm still not over HHH going over.

Punk v HHH in 2011. I'm still not over HHH going over. Beginning : CM Punk pipebomb. Ending : Triple H vs Kevin Nash in a Ladder match. Ridiculous.

Yep, to me it was the first big storyline with no payoff and you can chart WWE's creative downfall from that point. Once that became acceptable many others came along, Raw anon GM is another (minimal payoff in that case).

Punk v HHH in 2011. I'm still not over HHH going over. Definitely this one. Unforgivable bullshit. It was the worst payoff until... Sting in WWE. I am a massive Sting fan and I was still following WWE at the time, so I was extremely excited to see him finally make his debut. We all know how that went. Funny how the same guy was involved in both of these shitshows.

Wrestlemania 35 should have been Ronda v Becky with a decisive win for Becky. It was the main event of the biggest show of the year, the most popular star in the company and a heel who was going away (in the end for 3 whole years). There was no reason to protect Ronda with a fluke roll-up finish. And Charlotte should've never been in the match to begin with.
I've never went from such excitement for a match to disappointment so quickly as that week or two period between Becky confronting Ronda the night after the Rumble and then Charlotte being added to the match.

The Angle/Stephanie/Hunter love triangle. One of my favorite storylines of all time until Triple H put a stop to it because he didn’t think Stephanie leaving him for Kurt Angle was believable. Fixed that for you.

It turning out to be Mysterio’s mask in that burlap sack, segueing into a Kane/Mysterio program that literally none of you remembered until this post.

I guess I'll be the first to say Hogan/Sting. Not only at Starrcade but 2 months later at Superbrawl too. It wouldn't have erased the debacle that was Starrcade but they at least had the chance to save it as best they could by giving Sting the decisive win this time with no shenanigans but nope, again Sting wins in a screwy fashion and needs Savage’s help.
The NWO in general could and should have had multiple amazing payoffs. You have Hogan/Sting which is the first big victory for WCW. Then when it splits into NWO v Wolfpack there could have been big money in a major Hogan v Nash PPV match and Hollywood v Wolfpack wargames but the feud just kind of peters out. Even after that you could have had Goldberg ultimately be the one to kill the group off completely when it had ran its course but in the end there isn’t even a proper ending to one of the biggest angles of all time. Instead it justs limps along for a while, Hogan turns face and the top stars eventually stop wearing their NWO shirts and it’s left to like Vincent and Stevie Ray to carry the group.

Flair turning on Sting at Havoc '95. Flair got his ass kicked by Anderson and Pillman for like a month just to convince Sting to be his tag partner so he could double cross him and be like HA HA STING YOU ARE SO GULLIBLE. The commentators raving about Flair masterminding Sting into this trap which just led to another month or two of unbearable paint by numbers Sting/Flair matches where Flair gets his ass beat repeatedly and ends up looking a complete fool. Not only was it an insult to the audience's intelligence, but it turned an actually interesting new chapter in the Flair/Anderson relationship into a nonsensical contrivance just to book a bunch of boring/pointless Sting/Flair matches because they didn't know what else to do with them.

Except Ronda was coming apart at the seams and they added Charlotte to keep the match smooth and make Becky moment even bigger Sure people can be iffy about the finish but that whole storyline was to put Becky on the level she is now Ronda had a decent PPV match with Nia Jax. In fact all of her PPV matches in the year she was there were pretty good. Her and Becky could have easily worked a fine 15 minute match. No one was expecting Okada/Omega. Adding Charlotte to the match didn't make it bigger. It diluted it. There was far more hype and excitement behind Becky v Ronda. The example I always use is if Triple H or Kurt Angle were added to Rock v Austin at X7. Would it have detracted match quality wise? Probably not. Could you have made it make sense, storyline wise? Sure, HHH and Angle had been feuding with Rock and Austin on and off for a year so they all had history. It still wouldn't have been the smart thing to do. The real money was in the 1 on 1 match like it is 99% of the time.
