But there are many other sports entities that do this? F1, Golf, etc? Guess some things just hit different for me I guess And they're crappy if they run state-sponsored propaganda shows, too. I think the reason you don't see tons of uproar about golf tournaments run by Saudi princes on a pro wrestling forum is kind of self-explanatory, but I'm fairly sure you can find people in F1 communities who also don't like that that stuff is done that way. But conversely, tons of companies pulled out of Vision 2030 deals after the Khashoggi incident, like UFC even cutting off what was arranged to involve a partial sale of the company to make KSA part owners in the company, which would have been extra lucrative. Contrasted against WWE going right over to do a show like two weeks later, yeah, the issue kind of spoke for itself. The LIV golf tournaments that the Saudi family is sponsoring is very controversial in golf circles. It's gotten a lot of chatter the last few months and Phil Mickleson caught a lot of heat when he was one of the first names tied to the tournament and with how cavalier he was about the Saudi government's many human rights abuses.
But as said, there's a difference between running shows in the area as a private entity or even doing business with repressive governments. And running shows as a propaganda tool of said repressive government. The only other thing like it was WCW's infamous show in North Korea. At least the Saudi Arabia shows are attended by people who actually want to be there and not forced to under threat of torture and/or death.

I mean if we can park the awful allegations for a second, Vince lost wherever magic he had years ago and should’ve stepped down then but he didn’t. Even his biggest detractors have to admit his on air presence was great and Austin wouldn’t have gotten over as much without Vince on the other side. So I can completely understand why some people are conflicted tonight, by condemning his misdeeds that have come to light(well mainstream anyway) but having fond memories of his on screen character.

Oh no the gold tournaments is getting a lot of shit People are getting suspended and quitting the PGA over it because they rather take the money The only thing I know about golf is that I never see anyone online talk about golf, like they'e the most isolated fandom on the internet or something. So thank you.

Just had a really crazy thought and to make this as non political as possible, but...given they're friends and his wife's role in his administration, what of they found something about him linking him to January 6th. Linda wasn’t in the picture then, so I doubt it. This is definitely about the involuntary favors he kept asking for. More on topic though, I’m not conflicted about a thing. This is a great day for wrestling. And honestly, a fantastic opportunity for WWE to move into the 21st century without the 20th century anchor.

I doubt the likes of Dunn or Prichard actually get booted out that fast. Triple H has come in as even a 'safe' replacement for the guy implicated in the scandal alongside the boss, but outside of filing spaces as people move up, there aren't going to be any huge shakes for right now. THis is exactly the kind of period where you want stability to keep investors from getting gunshy, to keep your partners feeling like things will still continue day to day as normal, and it's only once that feeling of safety is there that anything major changes. For stability's sake, you'll want to keep a guy like Prichard on, you'll want to keep your head of TV production. The firings and the severance packages are going to come a few months down the line. More immediately, we'll see wrestlers drop from TV in the coming weeks pretty fast, but for the time being, any sudden motions will only hurt the company more during this transition. Yeah, Steph and Hunter really dislike Dunn... but they aren't going to do anything major to spook the shareholders right off the bat. There might be rumors of people moving into position behind Dunn or something... but I don't think he'll be out on his ass immediately.

It became an issue when they started doing the shows at the behest of the oppressive government for propaganda purposes. It they were running their own shows the same way they did in the past no one would care at all. But there are many other sports entities that do this? F1, Golf, etc? Guess some things just hit different for me I guess ? Sports washing in golf is causing all sorts of issues at the moment.

So wild how I thought the most shocking news story of the year was Cody leaving AEW and that wasn't even 6 months ago. I know this is arguably the biggest wrestling story in the past 50 years but when the dust settles I think Cody returning is still actually more shocking. Like if you told me a year ago that Vince would step down I wouldn't want to put money on it happening but I could see it being a possibility. He's 77. The law of averages say that either due to death or stepping down he probably wasn't going to last many more years as chairman. The thought of one of the AEW EVPs showing up at Wrestlemania though and people talking about them possibly winning the Royal Rumble and ending Roman's reign would be so far-fetched that it honestly wouldn't even have entered my head as a possibility until the news actually broke.

Yeah, I follow enough sports account to know that this is getting the outrage that WWE doing Saudi Arabia should have gotten and really is splitting golf down the middle and the only reason it doesn’t is because Golf is seen as credible and WWE…is WWE.

Linda wasn’t in the picture then, so I doubt it. This is definitely about the involuntary favors he kept asking for. Vince is way too fixated on his work to be politically active. He obviously holds beliefs and those beliefs can often find their way onto the show, and he'll follow through with his beliefs through his company where he can with things like Tribute to the Troops, but uless he can make a wrestle show out of it, I don't think he'd be involved in a single thing. He's got TV to write rewrite rewrite.

People Who would be back in wwe’s good graces with Vince out of the way? Maria Gail Kim Martha hart Christy Hemme Mickie James Dean Ambrose Cm punk? Punk seemed to have issues with Hunter. Mox has said his big hang to ever go back was Vince, so yeah. edit: also Mickie was already back in the Rumble... I doubt there's any real bad blood there.

For those of you who ever saw the Family Guy episode where they force Carter to retire, you already know what’s gonna happen.

"KEVIN DUNN? YOU'RE FIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDDD" Bruce Prichard joins the new McMahon KMA club. Becky for some reason shows up to give Steph a stunner.

This could go all sorts of ways. Could just be puff piece, could be they launch a story. Genuinely interested. Prepared for disappointment.
