Whether he went into business for himself for not, it’s pretty smart move. Maybe a huge dick move, but still smart. Punk gets how this whole wrestling thing works more than the rest.

When you have unscripted promos, you're going to see way more of the real personalities. Punk was, is, and probably always will be, kind of an asshole. I think he's an asshole who has his heart in the right place, but he's still an asshole.
Last night was SO f***ing weird, though. It's like neither Mox nor Punk really want to be babyfaces anymore and were trying to outdo one another on the edgelord scale.
Unless the long-term plan is getting the crowd behind the idea of Hangman decapitating both Mox AND Punk with lariats, it just seemed real dumb and out of nowhere.

Poor Hangman, he's sitting in catering with his friends, gets called out without warning, and then gets called a coward for not responding to a challenge he literally didn't even know about. Punk is such an entertaining dick. He's the guy you don't want in your own social circle, but enjoy watching from afar. He's the person that everyone knows he's a complete asshole, but they consider his friendship a holy grail, because just imagine if you could direct all of his assholishness on all the people you don't like...

The problem with that is, if everyone loves to see him ether people on the mic, they're not going to want to see someone who can't ether him on the mic right back get one physically over on him. And one of Punk's biggest advantages is that he has no compunction about airing people's real-life dirty laundry to make himself look good, whereas he has _NO_ dirty laundry of his own (with the possible exception of the Colt stuff) that you can hit him back with. No drug use, no criminal charges, no worldviews that don't comport with the current cultural zeitgeist. He's untouchable.

Me during Punk's promo: "F*** Punk, I hope Mox kicks his ass and bleeds all over him." And I don't mean that in a bad way, since it seems like that's what he was going for. It's just a testament to how great he is at pushing people's buttons when he wants to.

Punk, in some ways, reminds me of this other wrestler. If you were in his group, his clique, if you will, then he'd bend over backwards and look out for you, take care of you. If you weren't, then he was kind of an acerbic dickhead. He also got away with a lot because he was just that good, so his ego went unchecked for forever.

I daresay Max found the hot buttons to go after if anyone ever really wanted to dress down Punk as a face would to a heel.

Weren't there reports of Punk and Page having bad blood behind the scenes months ago? I think Meltzer even compared it to Bret/Shawn which seems a little exaggerated even if they don't like each other.
Maybe it's due to Cabana? Like Page is friends with him and isn't happy that Punk's mere existence in the company is screwing over Cabana. He was never going to be a massively pushed guy but he seemed to be having fun doing the Dark Order stuff but he virtually stopped appearing once Punk debuted. There was that awkward fan video backstage when Punk is walking down a corridor, spots Cabana and turns back the other way so he doesn't have to walk past him. That's a pretty toxic environment if you're caught in the crosshairs and the solution seems to be to just stop bringing Colt to the shows. Apparently TK wasn't going to renew his contract until the Bucks convinced him to keep him for ROH where he'll be away from Punk.

I’m guessing Punk still had one in the chamber for Hangman based off whatever was previously said and he couldn’t think of another opportunity to get his beef off his chest. I got what they were going for with him and Mox, two popular stars coming at each other with intensity and neither of them are flat out villains, but him throwing Page into the mix made it come off less “the champ is ready to fight” and more “damn, who pissed in your Pepsi this morning bro”.

Meltzer is mad Punk blew up his story on Punk missing more time 😆 jk
Also really we going with single sources for news now even if it's SRS, Alvarez, David, etc.
I know news and rumors are big thing here, but maybe fix the rules again about news reports/reporters. It causes way to much unnecessary arguments fighting all the title.
Just a though Mods.

We are still questioning Meltz as a source? This is like last All Out when everyone said he didn’t know that Hangman wouldn’t be at the PPV. He was right, had it well before everyone, and everyone just forgets.

Meltzer is a pretty legitimate source but I still find it hard to believe Punk was going into business for himself, especially when it doesn’t seem like there’s another path for Page at All Out unless he’s joining the Dark Order team for the trios tourney.

I'm questioning why are we going of one report. How about if another reliable source from can confirmed this. then let's have the conversation we're having.

I did like when Punk adlibbed about being the “dollars and cents” and Mox adlibbing back about Punk only coming back because he needs the money. That struck a chord.

Punk is unparalleled at zingers and bringing the heat, but you just don't do that in what SHOULD be a face vs face match. Heels can afford to take verbal abuse, and should, but your two biggest babyfaces trying to cut the nuts off each other with edgy promos is just really bad business, unless one of them is working their way to being a heel. And, hell... maybe I'm getting worked, here, and Punk is genuinely a sweetheart backstage and everything is sunshine and rainbows unless your name is Colt Cabana, but Punk really does strike me as the kind of guy who wants to straight up Ether you on the mic, but would get boo-boo face if you did the same, because I'm quite sure Mox could have loaded bigger ammo in the clip than what we got out of him last night.

Because it’s Meltzer (and to a lesser extent Alvarez). Since when do we wait for two sources in order to even have a conversation on a message board? We’re not reporters, we’re just going off of what’s being said.
