I don't think Punk was on board with that at all. His hop off the top rope before the match looked like it was him showing he was fine, and the angle during the match was BS. It's something Shawn Michaels would have done in the 90's, like his moonsault off the top rope after he "injured" his knee. And if it's all a work, it's too much. Between MJF, Omega, and this, it's too many worked shoots. The thing about a sudden injury is you can do that, and be absolutely fine, but when you torque your foot, in kayfabe, you essentially could sprain a tendon or worse if it wasn't fully healed Punk agreed to it reportedly, and he sold the f*** out of it I'm not saying that it wasn't plausible. I am questioning the booking of the title since Punk's original injury, essentialy wasting potentially the biggest match in AEW history to pop a rating. And to me it seemed like Punk was subtly protesting the whole thing.

I honestly think this was a work and that it will be more fuel on the fire for a Punk heel turn. He lost his title because of his own hubris.

Thought it was super lame and tuned out when it was clear nobody was coming to challenge Mox. A very discheesing display.

If this was done by necessity, it was handled way better than, say, Dark Order vs. the Super Elite. Moxley came out of it looking stronger than ever.

Punk is finished. I can envision a lot of fans being pissed over the brevity but it had to be done.
I'm sure AEW is anticipating a return and has an angle in mind but in my view dude is done-zo.

I wish they didn't say the trios match was after the title match. Make it like a super emergency standby match. Kinda spoiled something was going down

I don't see this as the biggest match that AEW can feasibly do, but overall I don't think they had a choice, and again Punk agreed to it via reports, he didn't have to do it, but if the man's too hurt to wrestle it's not like he had much choice

I really think it’s as simple as Punk not being ready but not wanting to do that at All Out in Chicago, so they had him drop early and in this manner.
Cause they need a ME that can go. And it needs to be the Champ already, not interim. That being said who the HELL knows what the main event is now.

Kinda spoiled something was going down Well, it kinda had to be, there are two Dynamite tournament matches left to get through and next week's the go-home show. What they should've done was opened with Punk / Moxley if anything.

Said it a few times but I doubt Punk was anywhere near 100%. He was probably closer to 60%.
Just on personal experience when I broke my foot and had to have it fused I wasn't cleared to walk for the first two or three months, even after being cleared I wasn't able to really walk on it until month 4. Even if his went better I don't see how he could be able to wrestle a full "banger" style match this soon. Given how protective he is off his health following his WWE run I can see him disappearing for awhile.
Plus this adds some crazy intrigue to All Out.

But it made no sense whatsoever kayfabe wise for him even to be out there agreeing to work hurt on free tv...No sense. It mirrored how extremely thinned-skinned he is reported to be in real life and ended with him upsetting a large portion of his own fanbase.

There's precedent for world title matches opening the show and it would have teased a time limit draw, making the swift end even more shocking.

What confuses me is, if it’s because punk wasn’t ready for a match and is still injured. Why do the whole thing calling out hangman? Teasing something that may not come in to fruition due to the “injury” now it makes punk look even worse. This has to be an inevitable heel turn coming.

I'm seeing people complain about Punk selling his left foot even though he kicked with his right.
It's called your "plant leg" and it takes more of the tension of a kick than the actual kicking leg.
