It makes sense for Punk to vanish for a month or two before returning healed and probably a heel with some excuse or agenda or whatever for his weirdness explained but would he really skip All Out? Even if he can't wrestle the crowd are going to expect a promo, interview or run in from the hometown boy. Also likely expected him to do a promo or something at Forbidden Door and he didn't show up for it either.

They’d better have a good back up plan for All Out now. Those Chicago fans will be p***ed otherwise. Its what they get for getting a tv wrestling show what seems every other month. I have said it before but I am convinced it is because Khan is from the Champaign area (Not extremely close to Chicago by any means but this state is Chicago and everything else)

Then my question is, why do the hop in the ring? The whole thing felt off, and diminished the impact it could have had. And it's the biggest match I can see. Their two most over wrestlers, both with a claim to the title, winner takes all. Anything else they can book for the main event in 11 days will be a lesser match. If Punk really wasn't ready, then just wait until he is. When you're injured, you can do a lot of things and then you actually try and perform the thing you've been hurt by, and you can reinjure it if you're back too soon Punk decided to try and wrestle, it's way different than just hopping around, he twisted his foot for a kick, and it gave out. But overall I think Punk needed time away, not just for the injuries but maybe for well, this, all this drama. Just reset. If this was all just to write Punk off, that's a great disappointment and a big missed opportunity. But my feeling on this is based off of Punk's reputation, plus the Hangman reference last week seemingly out of the blue.

Still, they've been getting fed well for years due to it.

My biggest complaint is, individuals kind of already knew that CM Punk's injury was worse than initially reported and accepted the idea of Jon Moxley as AEW Interim World Heavyweight Champion. So, why not continue that until Punk was actually ready to return? Because the unification match should have been a bigger deal than just built for two week's to be given away on an episode of "Dynamite"
And if the issue is that Tony Khan started to sour on the idea of having an AEW Interim World Heavyweight Champion, why on the same episode did they announce the crowning of a Interim Women's Champion at "All Out"? I think this may have been a bit of a misstep by Tony Khan, and while it's going lead to a lot speculation and chatter, it may also leave a bad taste in some casual fans mouth.

It’s a always a hot wrestling market, their tickets have always sold crazy good there, it’s essentially the birthplace of all elite (All In)…. I see nothing wrong with them basically approaching Chicago as THEIR home away from home the way the E has always approached NYC (Never mind the geographical difference of Jacksonville/Chicago vs Stanford CT/NYC)

I posted in the weirdness thread. But CM Punk is not on the posters for the next two AEW shows. Both are after All Out in Chicago

I feel like the negativity for this online has boiled down to how much you like, or don't like CM Punk as a whole
A lot of people seemed to love how it went, and also just hate CM Punk lol

My reaction for this (and the Punk promo) seems to be so different from so many other people's, I'm wondering what I'm missing. To me, it didn't feel like particularly strange booking: just telling two stories, where Moxley becomes the real champ and gets to be a brutal tweener asskicker, and where Punk's arrogance and brittle self-esteem lead him to an official heel turn.
Honestly, the weirdest, most inexplicable booking for me is the whole interim champion thing in the first place. I guess they just want to show off a way they're unique, but it sure looks like it'd always be a weird cul-de-sac, in terms of narrative.

If that match was any shorter, it could be an AEW wrestler.

Watched the video of the match.
Punk's status is all guesswork but I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to take the interim off Moxley and let Punk have more time. Another guess in the ether. Punk was moving fine and I extremely doubt that Moxley is doing a random ankle lock after the elbows if Punk is legitimately hurt (or two moves that require the dude flying through the air and landing flatback).
I didn't see it as a burial. it was a well told, abrupt story. Taz was pounding home the "too soon" drums and JR got in the "But don't take away from Moxley" bravado. The ongoing story of Punk being able to sustain after all his years gone and the stress of high caliber opponents laid bare for everyone to see. Punk looking back in seeming realization that he let his ego write a check that his body simply can't cash anymore. Simple and effective.

I laughed and yelled "get f**ked" at the TV so that finish was over with me, brother.
