I’m a 54 year old AWA/NWA previous lapsed pro wrestling fan who never liked WWE and became an instant fan of AEW at its birth.
Going back to being a lapsed pro wrestling fan.
It doesn’t matter if this is a work or shoot. It’s just stupid either way and I’m done.
Congrats Tony Khan if this was your intent in driving home your AEW brand as being a bunch of unprofessional nut jobs running the asylum.

He really needs to go His behaviour at that press conference was a sackable offence, to then throw a punch at an EVP should be the final straw. I couldn't care less if he's a draw or that he's the champion, you can't let him embarrass the company like this and get away with it. Cool. Sure sounds like the EVPs were playing games in the media, too, though. The whole idea that talent are also management is dumb. Strip the Bucks and Kenny of any power. Get a real booking committee with vets who aren’t talent. Sit everybody down, squash this shit and move on. Tony needs to f***ing man up. And that doesn’t mean firing either side. They’re all important. I didn't think they had any booking power. Didn't Khan take over completely back in December 2019? I thought the EVPs mainly dealt with other stuff these days (Matt with the merch, Kenny with the games etc) and with general locker room stuff. |

Taking away the fact that Matt and Nick are also wrestlers, you can’t go around punching EVPs and get away with it Look. I’m with you there. But it also seems like the EVP’s were actively trying to sabotage the top act in the company, too. Is it 100% proven? No. But it sure seems like there’s something to it. They shouldn’t BE management if they’re actively leaking stuff to media because they’re friends with someone and feel he was slighted. Punk is in the wrong. But this feels like some personal petty shit between two groups of people getting out of hand rather than the EVPs taking a stand against somebody ruining the company. Except what evidence beyond, "Punk says so," is there to support that? There was at least one quote from a reporter where they directly stated they haven't talked to the Bucks or Kenny outside of an interview capacity. You're talking about punishing them for entirely hypothetical behavior offered up by someone who basically openly thinks everyone is out to get him. |

Sources: There was an altercation between myself and a bowl of cereal early Monday. I confronted count chocula about his marshmallows at the kitchen table. It did get delicious with me throwing strawberries in the bowl at least one bite with them in there. Milk intervened to separate everyone. More 2 come

But yeah, I agree with the consensus that this should be the last media scrum. Between the Punk meltdown, Tony's "deer in the headlights" look during said meltdown, along with choice editing taking other things out of context to make them sound worse than they are, it's not doing anyone any favors.
Too many people in wrestling live by the "no publicity is bad publicity" creed. But I think there is absolutely bad publicity. This kind of thing is harmful to your image and can be detrimental to free agents otherwise interested in signing. I knew if I was some free agent considering my options and looked at how things were going between WWE and AEW, this would make WWE's more recent stability look far more attractive over the recent chaos of AEW.
I also think you strip the Bucks of their executive positions and suspend them if anything about them leaking shit to the media is true. It doesn't justify Punk taking a swing at them, but that is incredibly unprofessional even for wrestling.

The plan was for MJF to be champ anyways, but now it looks like it will happen sooner than expected.
I imagine it was planned for the Arthur Ashe show as it is but honestly even letting Punk keep working without any kind of notable consequences for another two weeks would just be ungodly stupid. This is his second giant meltdown in three weeks, and this time apparently got physical, the dude can't be allowed to just carry on like it's business as usual.
Suspend him for 2 weeks like how Eddie and Sammy got punished, he would be in time for GS, MJF wins and Punk either is forced to stay home or gets released
